I motivated myself to log into Post Images so I could share the picture of the quilt top There's also a picture of the closeup of the fabric. It's really pretty in person and a great quality fabric. I was happy to get to use it. Quilt top finished at 66x75.

Thanksgiving is just like any other day for the most part for dh and me. We are very thankful for many, many things.
I hope you all had a good Thanksgiving It was cold here and snow is on the ground but being that the temp did get a little bit over freezing some did melt.
Ginny, I'm sorry that your dd's family are sick and were unable to be with you on Thanksgiving.I was wondering if your son had the day off and it sounds like he did
CJ,I wasn't crazy about the house block but now that the quilt top is put together it looks wonderful. It's a beautiful top and it's a good size too.
There is a man on youtube who has crocheting video but also several channels that are other subjects. On his crochet channel he has reached 300,000 subscribers so is having a giveaway and the item he's giving away is a quilt he made. It's his first quilt. His mother is aquilter and you can see some of the things she's made in the background of his video. He didn't actually quilt it but used the tying method..It looks like he didn't put on binding either but it's a pretty quilt.
I'm back to working on hats. It's finally dawned on me that the scarves I had started were going to take me way too long. Therefore I'm giving Hats instead and also bowl cozies. The bowl cozies are very easy. Some people use them in the microwave and others use them to protect their hands after the bowl is taken out of the micro. I've never heard anyone mention it but they would be great for on serving bowls on your table. They also would be great for bowls of cold things such as ice cream. So the girls will get knot bags and hats and the guys will get hats and bowl cozies Another downside of scarves is that they use a lot of yarn and to spend all that time and yarn for something I don't even know will be used doesn't seem like a good thing for me to do

Ruth, glad that you are not too cold, and that you did not get much snow. That way if and when you and Dh want to head out to run errands the roads, will hopefully not be bad for travel. Were you ever able to get an antibiotic for a possible UTI? Depending upon the quilt, tying can be a stunning and simple way to secure the quilting together. Pretty cool that he is giving it away. Scarves can take a long time, and I would think that in your area everyone can use another hat. Bowl cozies are adorable! I had seen some quilted ones (SUPER easy to make) when I was last in Lancaster with Dh, really all that is needed is some pretty fabric, a special batting that can take heat, thread and the time to assemble. Like what you mentioned they can go in the microwave, and also under serving bowls, as you had mentioned.
CJ- my favorite blocks are the pineapple block and the star block, bottom right corner. The quilt came out so well- thanks for the upclose picture of the fabric, its a joy to work with pretty fabric that is of good quality also. Nice job on the quilt top. Now the question that remains is what will you I be quilting next?
Just heard from DD and she feels awful, still. DGS has had this so I guess she is gauging how she progresses through this by how he did. I just offered to bring over a pot of chicken soup, which I think I will do . Thanks giving is a lot of work, really 3 days. One to clean and cook, the actual day to cook and entertain and today to finish cleaning up (and the house was not that messy, but I usually vacuum on Saturday- so that is done for the week now. I am sitting down, resting my back, finally. The nice thing is its in the low 50βs, so I am outside watching my birds. The other day I had two yellow bellied sapsuckers in the front- so you probably think I am nuts, but I have never seen one before. It was a rare treat.
Yesterday, while busy, actually went well. it was the first I have entertained like that here since losing Dh, and I felt it was time for me to do that. It kind of felt like the return to the old routine, where my SIL and I would switch holidays, one year I would take Thanksgiving and she would take Christmas, and the next year we would switch. With DD#1 not feeling well, it only made sense to have it here. It was nice to entertain at home, despite all the work. But I admit to looking forward to not doing much the next 2 days. I do plan on going for a walk shortly, and then watching the soccer game. I do not watch soccer at all, but figure that this game is probably worth seeing at least a little of.
Mary Maxim and Lion Brand are texting me a bunch about specials. Its always tempting but I really need to work on the projects I have here and not take on anything new.
Sue and Phyl - hope you are well and able to get some crafting time in. Ginny

Ginny, I'm glad you had a great Thanksgiving. I'm sure that it was a little difficult entertaining for the first time after your dh passed. All the firsts are undoubtedly hard and you've had so many of those in the past couple years. I'm sorry to hear that your dd now has the flu or something on top of her already present symptoms. As you know, I'm praying for all of them.
I did give in and order some yarn. Joann's has 20% off on all yarn except doorbusters, Discount is on clearance items also and free shipping but they now charge a handling Fee of $1.99 which is very aggravating to me. I also get a 12% rebate from Rakuten so the ones I ordered were yarns I couln't pass up. Now it looks like my dh got me a $50 gift card from Michaels. I don't llike Micheals but I'll use the card.I'm not on their mailing list so I haven't seen their black Friday deals.I really don't know where I'm going to keep all this yarn. My "craft cave" is full already
It's nice and sunny here so snow should finish melting.

Hello Ginny - I'm glad you had a nice Thanksgiving with your family. Hope you can get some rest this weekend. Ruth - Sounds like you found some good deals on yarn. Phyl and Sue - Hope you are well. It's sunny and in the high 50s here today, nice weather. I finished making the star and pinwheel blocks in the red and white snowflake fabric. I just need to figure out how I want to lay them out. Take care

I waited until dh woke up and asked him about the gift card and he didn't order it so it was yet another of those scams. It has disappeared from my email

Hello Hope you are all doing well today and having good weather. It's sunny and in the high 50s here, we've been fortunate to have some nice weather this Fall. I worked more on the snowflake material quilt this morning and decided to just have 9 blocks in the quilt - 5 star blocks and 5 blocks that have the pinwheels in them. That part of the top is all together so I just need to put on the borders and I have some pretty red and silver Christmas fabric to use for that. I'm also going to put some cornerstones in the border. I hope to get that done by tomorrow since I'm already losing interest on this quilt Hope you all get to do some crafting today. Take care

CJ, as usual you are keeping busy making quilt blocks and tops. YOu must have hige collection of the beautiful tops by now. You are very talented
It's a dreay looking day but pretty warm for this time of year. It got to 50 yesterday and today
I've been crocheting today but now have kitchen chores to take care of them it's back to crochet. I have two of the bowl cozies done except for sewing the end of the handle that's not crocheted on and weaving in ends. I don't think they're large enough though so I may make each of the guys another for larger bowls. I'm just making three sets since my grandaughters have a broken up their relationships

I don't know what time I posted the message that had the weather mentioned in it but very soon after, just like the other day, the temp plummeted and it started snowing
Just had an online chat with Walmart. Dh takes enteric coated aspirin for his arthritis pain so he ordered more from Walmart. Well even though the product info said enteric coated and the receipt that came with it said the same, it was not enteric coated. Of course we had to go through all the rigamorole but them telling us to print a label and take it to Fedex (we don't have a printer) I told that them was not convenient for me and since it was their mistake not ours that I felt they should refund our money and they finally did. It's interesting the names these online people have. It's obvious they are from another country.Anyway that took up a bit of time so I haven't gone back to crochet yet.

Ruth, I just went through a similar incident with a return to Walmart. Yes, I knew from the accent of the individual that they were absolutely not born here and were most likely overseas. She was pleasant and helpful but it took me a few times to describe what actually happened before I knew she got it right. In the end Walmart did send me a return label and my credit has already been issued. I am sorry that they gave you such a hard time over enteric coated aspirin. Glad you finally got what you wanted, that being a refund. Did you get much snow?
CJ- so sorry you are losing interest in this project already. I love the idea of cornerstones in the border, Its just a personal taste of mine. Red and silver Christmas fabric sounds very pretty- I am sure its a lovely quilt top and hope you can get it done quickly to move on to your next project.
Today was sort of low key. I did minimal housework- got a walk in and spoke to Dd. She is feeling much much better, what a dramatic turnaround from how she felt yesterday. She did have to take DGS#1 to the doctor, as he just does not seem to be getting over this bug. He tested negative for strep and covid, they are waiting for results on a flu test. I covered the holly bush with burlap ( the deer ate it severely 2 years ago) and built a nice fire outside. Finished reading my book- thank good ness for that. I dislike this author a lot and will never read one of her books again. this evening I worked on a cat ornament. The pieces are cut out and I think I know what I am doing. The ornament I am making is supposed to look more like my friends cat, who is a tuxedo cat. It took me quite awhile to figure out how I would handle the white blaze on the cats face and chest. Hope I can make it look decent tomorrow, the pieces are all cut out and ready to sew.
Have a good night- hope you sleep well Ginny

Ginny, yes that's why I do the online chat rather than call. First of all I hate talking on the phone and secondly my hearing is so bad and when the person has a heavy accent I can't hear nor understand what they're saying at all. I was glad to have the issue resolved because the thought of paying over $17 for plain aspirin that is not coated at ll did not set well with me or dh. DH was trying to take care of it but he dislikes talking on the phone even more than I do and he always goes to the wrong place on their site. So after he calmed down a little I told him I'd do it for him t i Also wanted to say that there are studies in progress on the lingering affects of covid aka long covid. The studies obviously haven't been going on are very long so there are no real results of whether a covid booster will make people affected better or worse. Yale had a great treatment program for those with long covid.
I'm sitting here in my dining room looking out my floor to ceiling window at the blasting wind blowing the snow around. It will either blow the snow away or make huge drifts. We'll see which it is later. I have an eye app't on Thurs so I hope the weather is good then. I have to have a re check of my eye pressure to see if the drops have helped. My sister still can't see very well since the valve was put in and her eye surgeon says she has fluid built up behind the retina so she has to see a retinologist next week.I would think that in a situation like that that they would have made the app't right away.It seems to me that the fluid sitting there might do permanent damage but then I'm not an eye doctor
Oh and Ginny, sorry the book you were reading was so bad.I have a couple authors who's books I won't read either.
CJ, I know the feeling of 'can't wait till this project is done" However your Christmas quilt sounds beautiful and those fabrics certainly are.

Ruth, donβt blame you for doing a live chat with Walmart. I opted to speak to a real person because the situation I had was so darned confusing- I had serious doubts at explaining what happened whether online or on the phone. I had no idea that enteric aspirin was that expensive. Just glad for your sake that the issue is resolved and that you are getting a refund. For a $17 bottle of aspirin, I am surprised that they were so argumentive. I hope that your weather is better on Thursday, and that you can make your eye doctor appointment. My parents always told me how very important it was to take care of your eyes, (and teeth also) and I was fortunate that they had finances to do that. I think its important that you get the eye checked again, and see if the eye drops are doing what they are supposed to.
About 2 years ago, a woman from my church gave me a bunch of books by this author, she said she was one of her favorite authors. I have read a few of her full sized novels, and found them lacking, just too many liberties (inconsistencies that even an average reader would pick up). As I had nothing else here to read, I decided to stumble through them after reading each one telling myself that I would not read any more. Well I found a novelette by this author, and thought I would read it, knowing it was only 135 pages. I found myself screaming at myself - annoyed at how bad this book was. I hope its the last of her books I find in my house (will have to check my closet to see if there are any others), i will absolutely not read any other books by this author.
Got a nice walk in after church. I did get to work on the cat ornament, and gave up only because its getting late and I need better light. I can see why the shop owner said that she now makes a lot of these felted wool crafts, they are rustic it fun. I got most of the front done, just have to attach the cats tail, put the back on and a hanger.
DGS is home sick, so DD will stay home with him, which means I have no babysitting tomorrow. I hope to finish the ornament tomorrow. Have a good night Ginny
