It doesn't matter how irrelevant he is as long as he's in the spotlight. The day I saw that thing coming down the escalator. I knew he would never, ever go away. He's a pathetic being that needs to be noticed. His supporters bother me more than he does. WTH do they see in him? Or, are they all exactly like him? I know an 89 year old man who pays for, I'll say companionship. Wink, wink. He thinks trump is the greatest president we've ever had. 89! With all the presidents who came before trump he believes trump is the greatest? Beasts of a feather. Fin, I like the new picture too. It's a great shot. You outta be in pictures.

birdgal, my thought about DT's appeal is they love him giving them some easy answers to all their woes (it's not their fault for anything! Someone else is always to blame. And these bad people who are in control are doing it on purpose! And they are evil!). And then he gives the finger to those they have decided are behind all the evils in the world.

That does sound exactly like them. Poor things. Either they are pretending to be clueless or they really are clueless.

Here's hoping Georgia votes with their brains today. (I gave up on Texas, but I have hopes that Georgia will break the chain of stupidity).

That does sound exactly like them. Poor things. Either they are pretending to be clueless or they really are clueless. People want simple answers to complex problems, black and white, good vs. evil, no shades of grey. It's human nature but we have to try to evolve. But when people educate themselves they become "elites" and evil, according to the Book of Trump (and his ilk).

I don't understand people who love trump. What is it they love about him? Or, are those people exactly like him?

Two things that I found amusing today (and hopeful for the first thing): 1. Apparently on early voting for the Warnock/Herschel runoff, approximately 60% of the early voting was for Warnock. The article I was reading stated that Herschel would have to get well beyond that on election day and that with the polls showing him falling behind Warnock, it is unlikely he will get it. 2. Senator John Kennedy was supporting Herschel by saying that it's better to have Herschel than "high IQ stupid people" who eat bags of kale for energy. Great endorsement, John! www.yahoo.com/video/sen-john-kennedy-urges-georgia-201000780.html

Warnock got it!!! Yes!!!
Now hopefully the GOP will leave that poor man alone that they used as a pawn. It was like making a choice between a child and an actual grown up for a grown up’s job. Or as the Daily Don instagram put it, choosing between having a PB&J or cancer.

The fact that anyone voted for Walker is just a crime.

Yes, it was so close! Makes you depressed.
The SCOTUS case re: North Carolina legislature vs. its courts and the state constitution looks worrying. It's all about gerrymandering but could have far reaching consequences if the Supremes back the legislature.

The handmaid’s tale and the rest of the conservative SC justices worry me. Every so often they surprise me but not often enough.

The handmaid’s tale and the rest of the conservative SC justices worry me. Every so often they surprise me but not often enough. From what I can gather it's 3 vs. 3 on this, with 3 not tipping their hands, yet. The legal scholars I've seen discussing this compare it to states being able to throw out the system of checks and balances that the federal government is based on. Judicial, executive, legislative. They are supposed to exist in counterpoint with each other, not have one branch be all powerful. Seems like a no-brainer to me, but who am I? This is about gerrymandering but could eventually be applied to presidential electors in the states. Hence the alarm.

The fact that anyone voted for Walker is just a crime. Prior to the runoff election on the news someone was talking to a Republican in Georgia. The woman said she did not like Walker, thought he was an idiot, but she was voting for him...for the team. It didn't matter who the candidate was as long as there was an "R" by his name (the last are my comments).
