CJ, I remember you mentioning the Oh My Stars quilt and am glad you're making one as a table runner. It's such a pretty pattern. I watched the video too. I hope you're having an enjoyable day today
Ginny, not home until 8:30 pm...that is a long day and sorry about your car. I finally got rid of my two 1990's vehicles a couple years ago. I was going to donate them to charity too but some people approached me about buying them from me so I gave them to those people instead. I was glad to be rid of them. Now my oldest vehicle is a 2004 which is, of course, still pretty old but it runs, my 4x4 vehicle is a 2006 I think. It's good to have spares. I left the 2004 one at ds' house in Indiana so that we have something to drive when we get there. Are you babysitting again today?Did you work this morning? You do keep busy
We liked the potato soup I made the other day so much that I'm making more right now. Last evening I didn't get much crochet done because I started a pattern for a really pretty hat but it was taking so long that I had to rip it out and do something faster. I didn't finish it either though and will do that today.I need to get the yarn together that I need for the great grands' hats.Christmas will be here before we know it. DD's youngest already has a gift that Grandpa gave him when he was here visiting but I do have crochet things for him too. The rest will get only crochet gifts except the great grandchildren who will get toys (as if they need more toys!)

Ruth, my mom used to make homemade potato soup- it was one of her favorites. Glad you made another batch. (I made it once, really liked it, but Dh was not a big fan, so I never made it again). Did you get to taking out the yarn you will need for the additional great grands kids hats? How sweet that DD’s youngest already has a gift from grandpa. Nothing like having an early start.
I am working on getting the car towed to my pastor- who is really handy and does enjoy repairing cars. If he can fix it (who knows what is wrong with it) then he knows of several people who are in need of a car. Think I would get minimal money for it- if not, I will see if the local towing company will give me money for the scrap metal.
Had an eye doctor appointment this am, which I think went well. Slept poorly last night, and so I will wish you all a good evening and see if I can get some rest. G

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well today and having nice weather. It's sunny here and cool.
I went out yesterday so I didn't get any quilting done. I did finish piecing my table runner on Wednesday evening and I found some batting and backing to use. This morning I was able to sandwich and pin the quilt so it's ready for quilting. I also made the binding. I hope to get it quilted tomorrow.
Ruth - I'm glad you are enjoying your potato soup.
Ginny - I hope things work out with your pastor and your car.
Take care and have a great weekend!

CJ you were missed yesterday but I thought you probably had errands that you were out taking care of. It sounds like you're moving right along with the table runner.
Ginny,, I hope you had a good day and also hope that your pastor can fix it without you having to spend money on such an old vehicle. Hopefuly he will find a worthy person to be the new owner.
Phyl, nice seeing you again. Yes Sue did tell us about her dh's passing and her vein surgery but she hasn't stopped in in awhile.

Good morning and Happy Saturday! I just checked and realized I did not check in at all yesterday.
Ruth, how was your day? How are you doing with the mosaic hat, did you finish it? I wonder what you are cooking today, I cook much much less now, and sometimes miss the opportunity to cook for more than one person. Are you making good progress on the hats for the great grands?
CJ-glad you were able to get the materials together to finish the table runner. You are using Christmas fabrics for that right? I am sure it will look lovely, wilth Christmas only a short time away, will you be using that table runner to decorate your home? With a table runner, hand sewing a binding is not such a big job- will you hand finish the binding or machine finish it?
Phyl, great to hear from you! Thanks for the update on Sue. She had shared with us about losing her Dh and her vein procedure. I hope she heals well from her surgery. The holidays are a tough time after losing a loved one. Glad to hear that you are doing well and getting some fabric cut for future projects. Nice to get set up to be able to work on a project when you are ready to sew.
Dd stopped over with DGS#3 yesterday, then I had a practice at church that went very late last night. Did not get home until almost 10. Today I will work on getting that car emptied, and towed to my pastors house. And have some phone calls to make…perhaps make a bit more headway on my Christmas cards. Hard to believe that its only 2 weeks till Christmas. Yikes. I also have to get busy on Janes pin cushion, knowing that I am facing a 2 week deadline.
See ya later. Ginny

Hello Everyone - Hope you are enjoying the weekend and having good weather. It's cloudy and in the 40s here today. Phyl - I'm glad to hear you are doing well. Hope you can get things ready for your sewing days. Ruth - Hope your crocheting is going well. Ginny - Sounds like things are busy for you, hope you can get everything done. Sue - Hope you are well. I finished the table runner this morning and I'm happy with it. I only machine quilted it in one direction using the wave stitch and I liked using that but it does use more thread. I also put the binding on. I did have a problem joining the binding ends, I tend to forget how to do that and I was being lazy and didn't look up the tutorial I like to use so I had to improvise joining the ends but it worked and the binding is on. I do have it laying out so I can enjoy it. I need to get back to my hand quilting since I haven't done it for several days. I just have a place I'd like to get through at least by the end of the month, so I hope I can. I also might make another Christmasy quilt top with a layer cake that I have that is blues and silvers with ornaments and other designs. I'm just trying to figure out a pattern to pick, I want something really easy. I was thinking about this one that I like because it's easy: www.fatquartershop.com/layer-cake-lemonade-quiltHope you all get to do some crafting today. Take care!

CJ, both are lovely. The table runner is perfect for the season. I like both traditional and other quilts. You did a good job , and although the scrappy quilt may be outside your comfort zone, it's great!
I'm doing well, sort of. I saw the doctor yesterday for the follow up of the second leg. It's still very bruised but healing is progressing normally. I expect to be ten years younger by the end of winter! lol!
I'm working on several scarves right now. Each stitch is part of creating the end product. I will probably never follow patterns!
I finally received a large order from Lion Brand yesterday. The order took weeks, more than a month for sure. Most of it was Vanna's Choice. Great price. I plan to finish squares for throws for my two grandchildren. The squares will be several different colors and stitches.

Sue, wonder why your Lion brand order took so long! Glad it got there and that you got such a good deal on Vannas choice yarn. I have never worked with it but it seems like a nice yarn when I see it in the store. Your granddaughters are very fortunate to have a talented grandma who can make throws for them!! That sounds like a pretty look, throws with varied squares in colors and stitches. good news indeed that your second leg is healing well. If you do find yourself 10 years younger by the end of winter, please provide the name of the doctor so I can see him/ her also!!
CJ- You did it!!! The scrappy quilt is so colorful and pretty!!! Great job distributing the blues throughout. I know its not your comfor zone. Still very cute. The table runner is great. Yes I can see the red in the border fabric, which was an excellent choice cause it really sets the quilt off well. Nice job on it- and I have also gotten to finishing a binding and just winging it. As long as its not being judged for a quilt show no one cares! Looks great. That is a cute pattern for your next project!!!
Where did today go? I did get the junker car towed to my pastors home- a process that actually went pretty well. Did some housework and laundry. This evening I went to another holiday light display with DD#2 and her husband and little one.

CJ,Iagree with Sue and Ginny, both items are very lovely. I love the table runner and you definitely got a good distribution of blues in the scrappy quilt. Your planned quilt will go well since you already have the fabric all picked out Sue, same here, I want that doctor's name too so I can look years younger Well on the subject of patterns, I mostly start out using pattern but I do a lot of modifying them as I go. Ginny, I hope you can get rested over the weekend (which is nearly half over already) I did get that mosaic hat done and today got two more hats done and am working on a third. I still have the dggc's hats to complete. I have two of the three started. Today was a non cooking day because dh loves leftovers and we have some.I have a feeling that if it comes to a time when I'm the only one in my household that I'll exist on tv dinners

Hello Sue - I'm glad you are doing well and that you received your yarn order. Ginny - I'm glad to hear you were able to get your car over to your pastor's house. Going to the holiday light displays sound fun. Ruth - I'm happy to hear you've finished some hats and that you had a no-cooking day. Phyl - Hope you are well today. Thanks for your kind words on my quilt tops, I appreciate them. I finished the layer cake quilt top this morning. That was a really quick pattern and very easy. I don't think it was the best choice for the layer cake I had since the fabric designs are kind of jumbled all together. But I was happy to use this layer cake I'd had for awhile. I'm going to try this pattern next with a charm pack and this time I'm going to be more careful how I lay out my fabrics in the rows. I've been wanting to use some of my pre-cuts so this is a good time to use them since things are quiet with quilt alongs. Hope you all got to do some crafting today. Take care!

CJ- are you pleased with how the quilt top turned out? What color scheme was the fabric collection you used? I remember the quilt pattern but not the fabric. Charm packs are fun…and sure make things easy!
Ruth, making good progress on your hats. The mosaic hat sounded a bit complicated and it must be nice to have that behind you. Having 2 of the 3 started is great, most hats go quickly enough. And leftovers are the best!!! I love them. Yes cooking for one is a challenge sometimes, just because it seems like a lot of work for only one person. But there is something so nice about a home cooked food.
Started cutting out the rest of the pieces for the pin cushion and I will finish that shortly (getting the pieces cut and the iron on stabilizer applied) then I get to start hand sewing.

CJ, I think it's a good idea to try the same pattern with other fabrics.Sometimes that gives it a whole different look even though the same pattern was used. Of course you know that already and have probably done it many times.
Ginny, It's good that you're making progress on the pincushion. It's hard to believe that there are so few days remaining until Christmas.
Mosaic crochet looks much more complicated than it really is.It's pretty easy. The hard part is tying all those ends that you have on each and every row, and on both sides, and making it into either fringe, weaving it all in,or making an envelope border if you do a mosaic blanket. In hats you just carry the yarn up the seam inside the hat.
Today I'm working on hats again making some with leftover yarns although I did finish a hat with a heart crocheted in but with a different method than I used a couple days ago.
