Good morning and Happy Monday!
All crafters are welcome here as we discuss crafting, life and our weight loss journey. Crafting includes actual hands on crafting, such as crochetting, knitting, sewing, quilting, needlepoint, painting, jewelry making, etc.....plus reading craft catalogs, craft blogs, watching craft you tubes or other crafting videos, chatting here about crafting, chatting with another person about crafting, reading craft emails, thinking about crafting, organizing crafting supplies, going into craft stores or the craft aisle in a store , attending craft fairs,or any other activity that inspires or directs your mind toward a crafting activity- even visiting us here to join in our posts!! There are plenty of days in which the closest we get to crafting is a visit here, so even if you have no time to craft, we would love to hear from you. We welcome newcomers to our friendly discussion! So glad you are here!! Please feel free to stop in and say hello!!

Ruth, yes indeed time does fly. I forget- how did we all manage to congregate here? And yikes- DGS#1 was only 18 months then? Your memory is better than mine. I do remember WW board shutting down and the kind moderators here starting us up here. Don’t know why but I did think you were making a hat from camo yarn. The RH I used about 5 years ago was not very soft, so if what you have is similar a scarf would be better. Have all your Christmas gifts (those that need to travel a distance) been mailed ?
I did get a little bit of crocheting done last night, and also got off to a start on my Christmas cards. I did struggle falling asleep last night but did not sleep all that badly.
CJ, Ruth, Phyl and Sue….and all others who check in just to read. Hope you have a good week. Ginny

Just called the cemetery (what a lovely subject) and all the graves where my Dh is will be getting a wreath during the wreaths across America program. So that holly spray I will use to decorate at my house.
Got little people sleeping now, probably have another hour before they wake up and I am taking them to the park when it warms up.

Ginny, i'm glad to hear that the cemetary where your dh is will be getting wreaths. That's such a nice thing for people or organizations to do
I just got home from some shopping, picking up prescription, and a couple other errands. I'm now exhausted. This evening I plan on doing nothing else except for crocheting and a little reading maybe

Hello - Hope you are all doing well today Ruth, Phyl and Sue - Hope you are having a good day. Ginny - That's really nice that your DH's grave will get a wreath put on it for Christmas. Hope you and the grandkids were able to go to the park. I used to give gift cards for Christmas but for the last several years I just give cash, it's easier for me. I went out this morning to get groceries, so I haven't done any quilting today. I'm not sure I'll get my hand quilting done, so if I don't then I'll just double up tomorrow. I'm working on a small (18x18) mini medallion wholecloth quilt that is pre-marked so it's easy to quilt. It was difficult picking the pieces for each of the 9 patch blocks for the scrappy quilt. I had many more blue and red pieces, so I was trying to figure out how to spread them out and also how to use the other colors. I'm just glad that's done and I've figured out the layout of the blocks, so I just need to sew the rows together. Hope you are all getting to do some crafting today. Take care!

Ginny, it was like a fresh start to have the old WW board closed and to come here. You and CJ were already here when Meg invited me to join. Of course I jumped at the chance because I was on a thread run by Meg over there too.I met a couple good friends on that thread and still keep in touch with one via email. I mostly was on a journaling thread where I also met several people but keep in touch with only one of them. There is one other that I didn't meet on a particular thread but she and I stay in touch too.
CJ, it sounds like it was a challenge to get those reds and blues planned just right but,of course, you did it.And yes, we both went out grocery shopping today.I have one more trip out that I have to make then dh's doctor app't right before Christmas. So probably only those two outings before Christmas. Sure seems like Christmas came around fast this year.
I'm almost done with the mosaic hat but it seems awfully big. I probably really need to do gauge swatches but I never do.Next one of these that I make I'll use a smaller hook. I never did get the other two hats done yesterday that I had thought I would do.I'm still deciding, too, what kind of hats to make for the oldest two great grand boys since I agree with Ginny that they probably are too old to want a dino hat although they just both turned six a couple months ago. And the dad of the youngest of those two is a huge fan of hats so the dggs probably is also. I don't think they are sports fans.

Good morning, Ruth, gauge swatches? What are those? Ha ha ha I have sort of done them, but honestly have never made an entire swatch. At your level of crocheting, I figure you are good at determining size in relation to hook and yarn size. My mom used to contact me in late summer early fall and ask me what color each grandchild’s coat or snowsuit they were wearing that year. She crocheted hats each year to match, or to suit an individuals taste. Sure seems like your scarves and hats will fall into that category, as cherished gifts. When its cold out, can you have too many hats? Kids seem to leave stuff everywhere, so having more hats is better. And yes, I am glad we are all here - and it was sure nice to meet you and CJ here. CJ- cash sure makes a whole lot more sense, then the individual goes where they want or spends as they want. Hope you can get some time today to work on your mini quilt. Sounds like a very pleasant project to work on without having to make decisions regarding fabric selection or location (something I think all quilters are victim of) Babysitting the little boys today. And its supposed to rain this afternoon. BBL G

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well today. The weather here is dreary and wet and in the 40s. Hope yours is nicer. I finished piecing the quilt top together with the scrappy strip sets. After I finished I did see a few places where I put the same fabrics next to each other But I'm glad it's done. I do not think I'll be saving pieces of fabric like this in the future. It is nice to look at it and see fabrics that I loved. I also cleaned out my sewing machine and put in a new needle. There was a lot of lint in it and I accidentally dropped a screw inside it so I ended up turning it upside down to get it out of there Next up is doing the next clue for the Melodic Melody Mystery quilt along. This one is just putting together some shoofly blocks and 4 patch blocks, and using half square triangles we've already made, so it should be pretty quick. Hope you all get to do some crafting today. Take care

CJ- sounds like you had a productive day, taking full advantage of a dreary, wet and damp day. Like yours my weather is pretty similar.
Glad you got your machine cleaned and a new needle installed. You use your machine a lot so taking good care of it is important. And it’s completely ok if you choose not to make a scrappy quilt again! I figure you will find other ways to work with your scraps, even if you choose not to keep them.
Full babysitting day, with the 2 little boys so that means I get little time to myself.
Hope Ruth had a good day Ginny

I did have a good day although tiring. I made a huge apple pie and will freeze part of it but it involved peeling, coring and cutting up about 24 or 25 apples. Then I shredded cabbage and peeled carrots (shredded carrots in the mini food processor, cabbage by hand but in strips not small shreds)and made fried cabbage and put some leftover pork roast in with it.
CJ, I know it's great to be able to look at quilts and remember each fabric and cutting and piecing it. Plus you end up with a pretty quilt. I'd hate to get rid of small pieces of fabric also. I hate getting rid of small pieces of yarn.Sorry your weather was so miserable.
Ginny, I bet those little boys are so cute together. Do they get along well? Taking care of two toddlers must be tiring though and I bet you look forward to their naptime.

Good morning! CJ- hope you slept well and that your weather has calmed. A good rainy day is nice, as then there is no temptation to go out, but its nice to see the sun shining outside. The melodic melody quilt sounds like a fun quilt to make. Hope that it works up well for you and that you are happy with how it turns out.
Ruth, that is a lot of apples to process. I have one of those apple peeler/corer devices, but that is work also and sometimes its just easier to do what you did, peel and core by hand. Bet the house smelled wonderful while that pie cooked. All that cooking and the subsequent cleanup is tiring. Hope that you can get back to crocheting today.
You bet! The two little boys are tiring, but their “relationship” is where I had hoped it would evolve to. They get along pretty well now and seem to like to be with each other. DGS#2 takes a good nap- around 2 hours. DGS#3 is an awful sleeper- sometimes you get barely an hour from him. Yesterday I left him in the pack and play (sort of a port a crib) for awhile because he woke up after 40 minutes….
Think I have some residual rain today, but its mostly gone….
Have a good day G

Ginny, as you probably can imagine I've had a couple of the pack and plays. They certainly come in handy. Those and the stationary "walkers" that are for younger babies and have the built in toys. Both are invaluable for someone taking care of little ones.
It's a sunny day here. I haven't looked to see what the temperature is yet.
I didn't get much crocheting done yesterday. I did start another hat but didn't get far. I don't know what I did with my time after kitchen duty.

DD#2 had a pack and play last year that was a nightmare. I could not get all 4 sides to lock in. This years is much better and I hardly struggle with it at all. Both my daughters have opted for excersaucers, walkers that do not move. IMO, the little ones find them boring, and I am much happier when they follow me around. I always use a gate to protect them from stairs, Glad you have sun, Ruth. Not here, its cloudy but no rain at the moment. I just put my sweater on as the temps are beginning a gradual fall.
Got both little ones in for naps, so I am getting some crochet time in.
CJ- hope your day is going well

Hello Another rainy day here, but warmer. Ruth - That is a lot of apples you had to peel and core!! I'm sure it's nice to have some frozen to heat up and eat later. Ginny - I'm glad your two grandsons get along and hope you are enjoying spending time with them. I finished making the blocks for this month's Melodic Melody Mystery quilt, so I'm caught up until January. It is nice making something at a slow pace. Pat Sloan is doing a quick table runner quilt along and it started today. I checked my Christmas fabrics and found some to use, so I already started making my table runner. I hope to have it done by the weekend - and that is actually quilting and binding it - I know it's a shock that I'm planning to finish something www.youtube.com/watch?v=H3loxjpw6KcHope you all got to do some crafting today. Take care!

CJ- didn’t you make an Oh my Stars quilt not too long ago? Think so, and that would explain why you would love to make a table runner. Hope you were able to find some nice fabrics to use, sounds as though you have already. She is from what I heard giving the directions over the course of 3 days- nice and quick and easy. Right up your alley!
Insane day. I got home at 8:30 which was expected. What was not expected was that my junker car broke down, right outside where I work. Ds took it out for a spin….so its in the parking lot there. Think I am getting rid of it - the decision is made. Why pay to insure and maintain a car that hardly ever gets used. I am thankful that it broke there, its a 1997, so it owes me nothing. Think I will donate it to a charity and have them take it away, I just hope it can stay in the parking lot at work for a few days and will speak with my department manager about it tomorrow.
What the heck!!!!! I got a Christmas card in the mail from Dh’s cousins yesterday….inside it was addressed to “Virginia”. Makes no sense to me at all, I have known these people for many years, and actually almost consider it an insult as I never use my full name. Wonder what they were thinking.
Yes, I got a few rows of crocheting in this afternoon.
Off to bed. Ginny
