Good morning all and Happy New Year. To bring in the year it's snowing. There's a bit on the ground but not a lot if that makes sense. It's still snowing but it's a light snow and it's still not sunny.
Ginny, happy sewing. I know your table topper will be beautiful. It has to be hard to decide on what fabric colors to use. That's just one of the reasons I don't quilt.I have a hard time putting colors together. I did finish the aviator hat. It's the one with goggles and those goggles were really hard to sew on and I'm sure they're a little crooked. Now I'm putting together the Paw Patrol hats. I don't know anything about Paw Patrol but the designer of the pattern had the colors for each one. I chose by what colors I had. I know that Marshall is one that I made and I think that Chase isthe other. Marshall I think is the Dalmation and sewing on those little spots on the ears wasn't too bad.Now I have the badges with the paw prints. Have to sew on the paw prints then sew the badge onto the hats then sew on the ears. I like your color choices for the houses and skies. I think the darker skies will work well because I know you're good at placing pieces so they go together to make a wonderful finished product. I do hope you get to move this year. It doesn't sound all that safe where you are. It will be hard for you since I think you said that you're lived there all your life. Also all that packing and deciding what to take and what to dispose of in some way.

Yes, that is right, Happy New Year!
CJ, think you have discovered the secret of scrappy, just shake things up a bit and try not to obsess too much over what color goes where. That is a great idea to wait till you have a month or two done before you begin sewing. Its really going to be an adorable quilt and the trees will help it look more cohesive. One quilt I saw at the last quilt show was scrappy, each block had scrappy stars, but the corner of each block had orange triangles. The orange triangles really made the rest of the scrappy part look like it all belonged together. Think your trees will accomplish the same thing. You have mentioned moving in the past, do you have an idea where you want to relocate to? Its a difficult decision for sure - most importantly I would want you to be safe and happy- and preferably near a quilt shop and or Joanns. Its a big decision and I know you will make your decision wisely. LOVE the idea of a temperature quilt from a previous year. Why not? Then you know what it will look like sort of. A fun project.
Ruth, you have snow? Hoping its not too much and that you’d not have to clear your driveway. Oh yes, I know who Marshall is…although I do not really know my paw patrol dogs well. The kids sure do however, and its not a bad show. Gosh that sounds like a ton of sewing getting the spots on the ears, the badges, and paw prints. You are a brave woman Ruth, I am not so sure I would do that.
The table topper is done, except for the binding which I will do tomorrow. Its not a good piece of sewing and is loaded with imperfections. I made a last minute fabric change toward the end, but am happy with that change.I am looking forward tomorrow to getting the binding on it, so I can put away my cutting mat and get my dining room table back. I know it sounds silly but I needed to get a project done that I could accomplish quickly…as crazy as my schedule can be, I needed to accomplish something, and this was that something. Lots of mistakes yes, but its cheery and fits well where I want it.
I got up early this am, showered and went for a 2 mile walk at 7:30 am. It was delightful, I walked on a trail that goes along a stream and around a lake. So nice to hear the sound of flowing weather and the birds. After my walk I went to church. Great way to start a day.
Phyl and Sue, hope you had a great New Years Eve…and that we all are blessed with peace and good health in this next year. See ya in the morning
