Santa bought me a new Instant Pot for Christmas. It's a multi-functional pressure cooker. I've been following an Instant Pot group on facebook and am literally overwhelmed by the group, the multi-functionality of this appliance, and have decided it's just overkill for my needs, and the fact that I'm just cooking for 2 people. I've decided to return it, unopened... even though Santa got a good deal on it.
I think I'll stick with my crockpot and stovetop cooking methods. I think for my needs, one of those Phillips Airfryers would be used more.
Anyways... did anyone else get a kitchen appliance?

Not a kitchen appliance but I got a Homemedics neck and back massager. All 11 of us tried it out and it was a huge success. I had been thinking about an instant pot but nixed it also.

Hubby and I went out yesterday and bought a big TV instead. Our sound on our living room TV is going out, so it was time for a new TV.
I'll apply the money from the Instant Pot towards the new TV.

Yay!!!! Cristi found us!! *calls off search party* oops so excited forgot to answer question. Santa actually brought one last year, and it still looks very lovely in its original packaging I need to actually open it for the Black eyed peas this year.

azcristi I came to the same conclusion about the Instant Pot. I read numerous postings about them but I decided that I wouldn't use it much since it's just DH and me now. I don't use my crock pot too much either since I'm usually at home so I don't need that. Plus, I also didn't care for a lot of the food I prepared in the crock pot. I know, I'm weird!

I actually used a crock pot a good deal (suits this lazy cook), but hated the *white meat* after cooking; I have a multi-cooker and adore it because I can sauté the meat before it slow cooks. Since the only thing my mother used her pressure cooker for was to cook rutabagas, I have never been drawn to one, LOL, so don't know what I'm missing. Do AirPods count as an appliance? Oh, I remembered I got a electric diffuser for essentials oils, too, LOL...I bet I do wear and smell them in the kitchen. Good to see you, Christi!!

Not an appliance but definitely a tool. I got my daughter a Pampered Chef whipped cream maker. It churns whipped cream in about 30 seconds and you control the sweetness level. A fun tool that all my sisters loved too.

Oh, you have an IP from last year and still haven't opened it? Wow - that would be me. If you're on facebook, there's a very active Instant Pot Community. This appliance is just not for me and my needs.

I love my slow cooker because I can brown the meat and then start the simmering. Actually, my slow cooker has been used a lot making hot apple cider and then keeping it warm. I just have to remember to remove the spices before it gets too spiced.
I have an IP and don't use it too much. My hubby he's a table grill when we have Korean barbecue. He used the IP at keep warm setting when we were cooking our Korean feast for 12 people. It worked perfectly.

I got the Nutri Ninja with Auto-iQ Kitchen system from Sams. The one with the blender and food processor. We have begun to make Dr Oz green smoothies and protein drinks and I was using an old, old blender from college days. Think, 1970's, Harvest Gold Osterizer. (remember Avocado Green, and an orange color I think.) They're now vintage on Ebay, lol.
So far I like this thing. I've only used it for smoothies, but it's got bells and whistles. It knows when your smoothie is blended enough, it starts and stops and then gives you a time estimate of when it is the right consistency. How cool is that? Oh, having another food processor won't hurt either I suppose. Just have to make room for the thing, it's fairly large in size with all the extra pieces. So I've got to clear out some unused kitchen bowls, glass ware, and stuff.

As for the instant pot, I had to look up what that even was. Pressure cookers make me have a panic attack and shutter. I have my mom's old fashioned one that you put on the stove has the bobble thing on the top that wobbles and hisses as it cooks. (I've never used it nor will I ever, and it has no instructions on how to use it) My mom used to always make pinto beans in it, but one day.... even she doesn't really know what happened or how it happened since she was an expert using the thing but one day the lid happen to blow off as she checked on her beans. She had beans all over the ceiling, walls, stove, and floor. Ever since that story, I will never use a pressure cooker, no matter how good or how greatly improved they are these days.
She gave it to me years ago as she no longer uses it, but it just sits in my garage. And she wonders why I will not use it. I am scared of the thing.

Once upon a time I had a pressure cooker and used it a lot for Swiss steak. It could take a really tough cut of meat and make it fork-tender. But that was back in the days before WW, when I dredged meat in flour and browned it in Crisco before putting it in the pressure cooker. Eventually I had that same classic mishap with the pressure cooker and ended up with meat juice and gravy all over the ceiling and walls and stove and floor. Never again.
