Hello Everyone Ginny - I'm glad to hear you are doing better, hope that continues this weekend. Ruth, Sue and Phyl - Hope you are well. We finally had some colder weather here today, down in the 40s after many days in the 60s. I know that's very cold for most of you, but I'd love it if it would get milder again. I was able to get a few quilting things done today. I made all the blocks for the monthly clue of the Melodic Melody Mystery quilt along. Looks like next month we'll start assembling the quilt top since all the pieces are made now. I also sewed together two rows of blue tumbler blocks. I'm going to try for 2 rows of every color in the Rainbow Scrap Challenge (usually at least 8). When I was going through my tumbler project bag I saw that I had a lot of 5 inch squares in there. I didn't realize I had that many. I'm going to sort them by color so I can get them stored away for any projects using 5 inch squares (I know there are a lot of patterns for these). But of course, it would end up being a scrappy quilt to use them, and I'm so tired of scrappy quilts right now I'll probably just store them away again. I'm using a 5 inch tumbler ruler from MSQC. I fell for those sales pitches on their youtube channel I have the 2.5 inch tumbler ruler, the 5 inch tumbler ruler and the 10 inch tumbler ruler! I may try and make a small quilt top with the 2.5 inch ruler if I can find a good mix of fabrics to use. I'm hoping to get some fabrics pulled this weekend for my bitty house blocks, since I want to try to make 7 of them each week. It's easier just making them all at once instead of each day. Hope you all have a great weekend and that you get to do some crafting

Ginny, I'm glad to hear that you are feeling better and I hope you still do. It's great that you were able to get the oil change done. I hope you are able to rest up this weekend.
CJ, I love the sounds of all your quilt plans. I know you don't like scrappy quilts but it still is nice that you found those blocks because I know you'll figure out something to make with them that you'll like.I think the temp here got to about 40 today too but most days in the near future will be in the 30's.
I made a nice pot of chili today and then spent most of my time crocheting and reading about crocheting. I started a low ponytail hat last night after finishing the fringe hat but the pattern starts the hat from the top and has you start with 15 dc's in the magic loop or whatever method you use so that's just too many beginning stitches and makes the hat wide, wavy, and flat at the top. I ripped it out and started over with less and used a different pattern of stitches for the increase section than she had in the pattern. It looks better already. Now I'm trying to make a decision on what I want to make next and also for the immediate future.I'm going to try to make a list of things I really want to get done. Some of those will be ufo's that I have sitting around.
Have a good night everyone.

Hello Ginny - Hope you are continuing to feel better Ruth - I'm sure your chili is good on these cold days. Even with my limited crochet experience it sounds like 15 dcs for a magic loo was really a lot. I'm glad you were able to figure out what number really worked. Phyl and Sue - Hope you are well. It's sunny and in the 40s here today, so not too bad. This morning I made some more of the bitty house blocks, so I have 24 done. I just need 7 more to have the 31 for January made. Some of these are a bit wonky looking because I was being lazy and not ironing them in between each step Hope you all get to do some crafting today and have some good weather. Take care

CJ!!!!!! Those house blocks are adorable and I KNOW you do not like scrappy, I hope you can see how much fun scrappy can be! The white or off white sides to each house and keeps colliding colors from colliding. Its a precious look. When I see a scrappy quilt like that, my mind tries to find the same fabric twice and if it was used elsewhere. It surely does take viewing a quilt to a whole new level. And I am glad you decided to take this project on. So sorry that winter has returned - well a bit.
Ruth, bet that chili was good! Do you prefer the magic loop or just a traditional closure to start a hat? (once I mastered the magic loop I loved it). How nice that you were able to adapt the pattern so it does not look so huge. What a good idea to come up with a list of projects to make and to finish. It will keep you structured so that if a project becomes boring or tedious (and they all do) you have your fall back project lined up already.
Made some banana bread and tried making my own chicken nuggets in the stove (which has an air fryer). I figured air fryer chicken nuggets would not cause any problems for me, and so far so good. They turned out well, think Ds liked them also. Not totally sure if I am going to church tomorrow, only because I am not feeling completely normal just yet. I had hoped to get to work on my PMQ , which I will get busy on now. Between Dd and a friend who is struggling, I have not had a ton of time this afternoon.

CJ,as Ginny said those houses are adorable and yes the sides sure work well. I can't wait to see how you put it all together. This gives a whole new idea on scrappy quilts.
Ginny, I hope your struggling friend is feeling better and that you were able to help. Tomorrow can be your craft day. I'm glad you liked the chicken nuggets you made. I make my own too only I do it on the stove top with a little oil. I'm going to try them in the air fryer. It sounds like you have a built in convection oven.
The first thing I'm going to make next is the wallhanging organizer I promised dh that I would make for him. Then I think I'm going to try the baby blanket that has the words Jesus Loves Me in bobbles. I paid for this pattern I think and I'm sure it wasn't much but after looking at it I realize I could have made my own chart. After that I will try to finish my tiled squares blanket I started several months ago and set aside.
The recovery of Damar Hamlin is truly a miracle!!! I hope this shows the world the power of ernest prayer

I got some work on the PMQ quilt last night and hope to get more time in later on. Ended up texting my friend a lot last night and she really has a struggle. IMO she is going to have to sell her home and move somewhere that is easier and less expensive for her to care for.
Ruth, how will you make the wall hanging organizer for Dh- is that also a crocheted project? Sounds like a busy crafting day ahead for you….have you started the baby blanket yet? Please do try chicken nuggets in the air fryer! They do turn out great.
CJ- hope you are able to get some good crafting time in today. Is there such a thing as bad crafting time?
Sue and Phyl- hope you are both doing well

Hello Ruth - Sounds like you have some interesting projects lined up It is very good that the football player seems to be recovering. Ginny - I'm glad you were able to work on the PMQ quilt. Sorry to hear about your friend's problems. I worked on a mini tumbler quilt this morning, using up some of the 5 inch squares from those that I was organizing. I have it ready to be quilted and bound and hope to get it done this week. I also pulled out a panel that I've had for awhile and want to make into a quilt. I have lots of panels and I'd love it if I could use at least one a month to make a quilt. Hope you are all having good weather and getting to do some crafting. It's cloudy and in the 40s here with rain on the way. Take care!

Ginny, it sounds like your friends problems are pretty serious. It's hard to find places to live now that aren't horribly expensive. I'm glad you were able to get some crafting in last evening. I hope that you're feeling better now
CJ, the weather here is not great either but at least it's not snowing. There's too much wind. Yes it sounds like a great plan to get one of the panels made into a quilt every month. Do you know how many you have altogether?
Ginny, you asked yesterday if I preferred the magic circle or another method. Well I used to just do a chain of three then put all the required stitches into the first chain. Then I finally found that the magic circle is not the complicated process that most of those teaching it made it out to be. Basically, as you know, it's just a slip stitch left open a little bit. People do say that the magic circle makes for a more closed ending circle but my method of using the chain always left a very closed circle and one that didn't come open. So I use both depending. The wall hanging organizer is crochet and basically a large rectangle with panels put on the front that are then divided into pockets. I'm not sure how I'm going to do the top yet.
