Curious ... what would u do? I ordered Caruso steam rollers from Amazon. A couple of rollers didn't steam properly the first time I used them and haven't tried since. I wanted to return them so I sent an email to Amazon telling them what was wrong. They emailed me back immediately and said they would credit me the $28 and I didn't have to return the rollers. I could keep, the whole set or donate it or dispose of it. It could have been a fluke that a couple,of rollers didn't work & I feel like I'm stealing something now. Should I tell them to,hold, off crediting my account until I try them again,,,or should I just go with it? (I'm on a one month free trial with Amazon Prime). Honestly, I kind of feel like a thief. Thoughts?

I would keep them and not think twice about it. This has happened to me twice and that's what I did each time.

Sulli, I think it's their policy with things *not worth returning*...I've had it happen to me a couple of times; I just consider it good customer service.
To me, stealing would be if there wasn't anything wrong with them, and you tried to get the refund. When I buy something, the whole set should work, IMO.

You had a legitimate complaint. They resolved it. End of story.

Thanks everyone. I guess I felt guilty because I can still use it, just not the several rollers that didn't work & might work on another try (&a I guess might still not work). It is good customer service.

ditto...again!
I've had it happen several times recently. Ordered a set of 4 small flashlights. 1 didn't work so they replaced it with 2 at no charge. Ordered 4 bottles of shampoo---2 leaked. So they told me to keep them and sent 4 new ones--no charge. This month I ordered a 'monkey' hat for my grandson--it was supposed to have attached mittens. They sent just a plain monkey hat AND a frog hat. When I requested a replacement they said keep both and refunded my money as they didn't have a replacement.
Am sure they take all this into account with the volume of business that transpires.
Enjoy your rollers---no guilt.

They cannot accept that kind of return because by law it cannot be sold to anyone else. You are fine. It saves them tie and money for you to keep it. They won't be paying anyone on their end to handle the return package.

My daughter had a package delivered to her from Amazon that was meant for someone else last Christmas. It included a few things, one of them a computer game thingie that cost over $100. She called them immediately. They told her to keep it, thank you for calling, and they would re-send the items to the intended recipient. Her response was "Keep it? You're kidding. Really??" Yep, really. So yeah, keep it. Amazon really does mean it when they say it.

Thoughts? I’ve had numerous times when Amazon CS told credited me and gave me a full refund. For me it has always been for Amazon Prime items that were sold by a 3rd party and fulfilled by Amazon.
It’s really just a matter of practicality. If you return the item, Amazon has to give you the money back AND pay for the return shipping. If they tell you to keep it, they save the cost of the return shipping.
So my advice: keep it with their compliments. As far as you know it is a defective product. Use it or don’t…but if it truly is defective you might want to consider whether you want to be plugging in a defective electric small appliance…it could eventually malfunction in an unexpected way and cause a fire.
