Ginny, like CJ, I looked on Etsy and saw a lot of panels and fabric with Harley Davidson. They also had a panel on Amazon. Whatever way you make it he will love it. I'm glad you got some time in for working on your quilt even if it was only a half hour. They say we got 6 inches of snow. It was very windy today so, as usual,we wait to see what effect the wind had.How did little grandaughter like the craft you picked for her?
I looked at the yarn I thought I would use for the neck warmer and decided the colors in the one colorway that would look good with my coat are way too bright so this morning I looked at some other yarn and found some in Lion Brand Heartland and also on a skein of yarn that I don't even know where I got it.It's Grundl. which is from Germany. It has 100gms which my pattern calls for but this looks like a thicker yarn so it may not go as far but I'll try it and see. It's very pretty and will go great with my coat and it's 80% acrylic and 20% wool and is very soft.

Ruth, that is great that you found a yarn that you like that will work great with your coat. Are you making something like a scarf or a collar as a neck warmer? Keeping my fingers crossed that you have enough yarn to complete the project. The yarn sounds wonderful, enough wool in it to make it warmer and acrylic to make it nice and soft.
Thanks to both Ruth and CJ for suggesting Etsy for the Harley Davidson panel. I found one that I like, its more of a patriotic theme/Harley than the skull and cross bones version. (Believe me this fabric is so far out of my comfort zone…..)I have to finish some of the projects that I have on hand first, and making a panel quilt does not take that much time.
Its cloudy and breezy. Think the temps are supposed to drop shortly. Think I will try to get a walk in before they do and then get to some sewing.

Hello Ginny - I'm glad you were able to work on you PMQ quilt, hope you are able to work on it today and that you had a nice walk. Ruth - The yarn for the neck warmer sounds nice, hope it turns out like you want. Phyl and Sue - Hope you are well. It's cloudy and cooler (40s) here today and looks like it will be that way this weekend. I'm just happy it's not colder than that. I was able to finish making the second block for Pat Sloan's Sweet Childhood Memories quilt along this morning. I also pieced together the month of March for my Temperature quilt and I've laid out the April pieces and hope to get that done this weekend. And I pulled out some fabrics for the last 7 bitty house blocks I need to make this month and hope to get to those too. I had thought about doing a Pineapple quilt this year, after making the pineapple block on one of Pat Sloan's quilt alongs in 2022. I'm going to make one a month, so it will have 12 blocks which should make a nice quilt. I'm trying to pick colors/fabrics that I think match with the month. I made the January block today and it's in blues and whites. Hope you all get to do some crafting this weekend and that you have a good one

Well my morning of getting bounced around on a school bus did not make my back happy, so my long walk got cut short. I did get some more work done on the PMQ and will finish that months blocks this evening. Cotton cuts is out of the fabric that I wanted for the backing but I found it in another source, so I might order it from there when I am done. Guess I should open up the assembly directions and see how much fabric I need to order. I much prefer this one print fabric to a plain black fabric, which would be my second choice. Yes my temps dropped, and its going to be a colder weekend. Days are getting longer though, and I have gained a whole half hour of daylight- between morning and evening.
CJ, glad you were able to complete the second block from the SCM QAL. Looks like its a quilt that permits you to vary the color scheme for each month, are you doing that? Gosh you are making awesome progress on the temperature quilt! Did you decide to use a black piece of fabric as a marker if a temperature set a record or not? I saw some lovely pineapple quilts at the antique quilt show. Hope that you enjoy picking out colors for that quilt and are pleased with it when its all done. I never made a pineapple quilt, but did make a pineapple afghan for DD many years ago. It came out beautifully, but was a huge challenge for me as it was in 10 inch squares, and each crochet row had different count stitches, so you really had to watch what you were doing.

CJ, it was in the 40's here today also. In fact my online weather says it's45 right now, just after midnight. It sounds like you have a lot of great plans for quilts for this year. You are much more organized with your plans than I am.
Ginny, I've never crocheted any pineapple items...and you say I'M a good crocheter.I've always thought that pineapple looked way too hard. Sorry about your back hurting. I hope you feel better soon.
I really haven't done much crocheting today. I started working on the neck warmer I started yesterday and decided that the slip stitch ribbing is not a good thing to make with this yarn.I've never really done slip stitch ribbing because it's time consuming and is not easy to do but I wanted to get some practice doing it. As I said, though, this yarn is not a good choice for practicing it. I'm still going to make the neck warmer but I'll use sc ribbing and it will turn out just as good. I'll practice sl st ribbing with a more friendly for practice yarn.
I really need to quit looking at other people's work online. I keep seeing more and more things I want to make and it just keeps me from making decisions on what to do next then I kind of panic because I'm not getting anything done.
Great thing happened today. I have a friend who's grandchildren were having a baby and it was a relatively high risk pregnancy. Well now the baby is here safe and sound and I'm so happy for them all.Of course I sent an immediate prayer of thanks.

Ruth, thanks for sharing the great news about your friends great grand baby. That is awesome news and a wonderful answer to prayer. So it sounds like you are going to still use that pretty yarn but with a sc ribbing. Well, I know what a ribbing is, but would never know the difference! Hope this neck warmer turns out great, exactly as you wanted. I still have the instructions for the pineapple afghan, which did turn out well. The only bad part is, I think its in DD’s closet…do not think she ever has it out or uses it. Think we all understand how that happens, when we are looking for a pattern or product online and then spend a ton of time searching the web. For me, its a problem when I am looking to make a gift or craft with the kids. Then it comes down to a search for what my skills will allow me to do, what I have to the time to do and what will be appropriate for the circumstance. The joys of the internet. It allows us to see all kinds of crafts that we would never see without it.
I did finish the block last night and took out the other block I need to make. I also took out the assembly directions - which they sent as the last installment. So I guess I am closer to the end of this quilt than I though if its not too difficult to assemble. Got back a little late from church last night from practice. Think Dd and DGS are coming over this morning. I am so glad that Monday is a holiday- no school.

Hello - Hope you are all doing well today and having nice weather. It's in the 30s, windy and cloudy here today. This is more like January weather than we've been having. Ginny - I'm glad you finished your block and hope you can work on the next one soon. Hope you enjoy time with family if they come over today Ruth - I'm glad you figured out a solution for making your neck warmer. I often change up quilt patterns in the middle of making them I'm very happy to hear the baby is well and safe. I spend too much time on the internet looking at quilts and fabric, so I understand how you feel about looking at other people's projects. But I've realized that is half the fun of quilting for me, so I just do it and enjoy it Phyl and Sue - Hope you are getting to do some crafting. Let us know how you are. When I was talking about making a pineapple quilt, I should have explained I'm making a block that looks like a pineapple instead of the pineapple block. I choose blue fabrics for my January block. I'm adding a picture of my two blocks so far for the Sweet Childhood Memories quilt along. It only runs through May, and I'm using fabric that go with the floral fabric in my block. As of right now I plan to just use the floral fabric, the bright coral fabric, the gray fabric, the gold fabric and the off white fabric in all my blocks. I may think about adding a darker gray, but I'm not sure. That gold fabric is not as bright as it looks in the picture. I finished putting together the Jan, Feb and Mar rows of my temperature quilt and I did separate them by a strip of black fabric. I actually had a package of 20 strips that were 1.5 inches all in black and I'm using them. That black fabric is so linty, I have little black pieces everywhere. I'll probably pull out a lint brush to go over the quilt at the end. I'd hoped to get April pieced today, but didn't have time - maybe later on or tomorrow. And I made 7 more bitty houses, so now I have 31 houses made for January. I'm not sure how this is going to go. There's no way I have 365 different pieces of fabric for houses (at not those that have some design to them), so there will have to be some repeats. I do want to try not to have a repeat in the same month though. I guess I'll see how it goes along. Maybe I need to add in some houses that have a more solid color. I plan to pieces these with 16 blocks on each row. So that makes 32 blocks per month. I will add in the small tree blocks to make 32 blocks for each month. My picture shows all my blocks so far with one tree block. Take care everyone and have a good day day! Light purple is 20s and below, darker purple is 30s, dark blue is 40s, green is 50s, teal/aqua is 60s, yellow is 70s. The gray blob at the end of February is the fabric I'm using for months with less than 31 days.

Ginny, I never see the things I make for family out either. I don't know if the family members are "saving" them or exactly what happened to them. My dd keeps saying that she has a couple drawers full of crochet things I've given her. Well why not use them.
CJ, I didn't think I'd like a pineapple block but I was wrong. I love your's esp the colors so that and the two blocks for the Childhood memory quilt are my favorites. I love the colors in the CM blocks too. That color that looks like peach is especially pretty. In the temperature quilt that black striping works so well.
I haven't done much today so far.
Thank you for the messages of happiness for the great grandbaby of my friend.

Watching all football game and hoping that Buffalo can hold on and win the game.
CJ- thanks for the picture of the pretty pineapple block! Gotta say I greatly prefer this pineapple block to the pineapple blocks that I originally thought you might be making. Love the cheery blue and cream and it will be so pretty with different colors each month. Sweet is a good word to describe the two blocks you put together for the sweet child hood memories quilt. So cute and pretty- I especially like the top block. Gotta say the temperature quilt will sure be unique- and I think the real character will be to see the seasonal changes as warmer temps arrive. Regarding the adorable houses. They are watch so unique that I doubt you will notice if there is a repeat even within a month. Many different fabrics and they are adorable. Hope you are having fun making those blocks
Ruth- most days you accomplish a great deal, so a low key day is in order! Well got a funny story about DGS#2 afghan. He does use it for some of his naps. But somehow they have tied the corner into a knot (which torments me!). Well at least it is getting used. DGS#1’s afghan never left this house (We used to babysit for him here). Its a gorgeous afghan so a bit heartbreaking that it was hardly used. Anyway we make these things to be used. I am sure DH is using that organizer you made for him.
.A lazy day for me. I might get to work on the next PMQ blocks in a little bit. I wasted about 2 hours on the phone with the cable company- again. The main television is ok, so I am able to watch the football game, but the living room TVis still not getting the cable signal. Think I convinced them to replace the exterior wiring, so they are coming on Tuesday to investigate that and then schedule the wiring repair. I sure hope they fix it this time.
Yes, Sue and Phyl, youare missed and we hope you are well.

I watched the Bill's game also.I doubt they can beat the Chiefs though. In a way it was sad that the rookie quarterback for the Dolphins didn't win. The second game doesn't come in on the tv down here and I don't feel like sitting upstairs to watch it. I'll probably watch the later game.
Ginny, it's always sad when people don't use what we make for them. Your dgs#1 was already born when I came to this channel so I don't know what blanket you made for him but I do remember the one you made for dgd#2 and for dgs#2. I know you shared the pattern you used for dgd's and I started it but it's among my unfinished projects. I really need to finish those.I think I'll move it down here so that I can work on it between other projects. Well the wall organizer, although dh requested this and also suggested how I finish it, when it was pretty much done he mentioned that he didn't know what he was going to put in it and so far hasn't hung it so we'll see what happens with that. He did say he thought it would be good to use in the upstairs bathroom.
I'm still working on the neckwarmer and I do see mistakes but I also see a way to use it so that the mistakes don't show so I hope to finish it today.

One more thing. They keep talking about egg prices and it's true the prices are ridiculous. The thing I find strange is that the organic, cage free, free range, and whatever other normally higher price eggs there are are much cheaper than the generic Kroger, Walmart, etc eggs. Here anyway. We have some called Pete and Gerry, some called Happy Eggs, and of course Eggland's best and another that we bought this week that was a usually pricey egg all for $4 and change while Kroger, etc were $6.99 and more

The baby afghan I made for my grandson the oldest was made from 3 inch granny squares, into the pattern of a quilt. I forget how many different colors the squares were maybe five or six different colors but because the gray scores were small it was a lot of work. I thought it came out gorgeous, and I guess my daughter was never impressed. I’ll take a picture of it tomorrow because I still have it here because it never left my house. As far as football goes the stupid Giants won, which I’m happy about, and I was happy that the bills won. Depending on who goes to the Super Bowl I might or might not watch the game, I really do not like Kansas City.
I did start working on the next month of blocks for the PMQ, and I made one small mistake in the orientation of how one subunit was supposed to 50 gather, so I decided to take a break and come back and finish it tomorrow.
Yes, egg prices have been absurd. I’ve been picking them up in BJ’s because at least I can get a little bit better deal. So many of the prices now just don’t seem to make any sense. And Ruth, I hope you finish that neck warmer and I’m sure you will be the only one to notice those mistakes
And tomorrow’s Monday! See you in the morning

I was thinking of you,Ginny, when I heard the Giants won. They must have really improved this year.I don't follow them but I got the impression that their last few years have been terrible. I think I remember you mentioning granny squares in that blanket and I'm looking forward to seeing the picture.I think we had a chat on here about granny squares and I mentioned I had made my youngest dgd a sweater made with 54 granny squares then you mentioned the whole baby afghan you made that had even more squares. I know I took a picture of her wearing it but have no idea where to find it.It was pretty though.I do wonder if she ever wore it after I left.I had gone to visit shortly after she was born..maybe two weeks after. And since she was the last grandaughter it wasn't passed down so I do wonder what it's final destination was.
I did get the neck warmer done but haven't tried it on yet so I didn't weave in the end yet in case I have to rip the part out that goes over the upper part of your chest. I think I remember the woman mentioning not to crochet into two stitches next to the v but I'm not sure.Since I did crochet into those stitches I'm wondering if it made it kind of curl right there but maybe that's just how it is and it will lie flat when it's on.Like you said about the mistakes, no one is going to notice the slight curl either but it would be an easy fix.
See you all in the morning in the new week.
