Ruth, what is it that you do not have the yarn for? I know you have a gigantic stash but do understand that you cannot have every type or color of yarn out there. Then of course, it’s so neat to see someone elses new project, which inspires use of different colors or stitches and well makes us think outside the Box. So glad your yarn did arrive! I know when I was dealing with Walmart and an item that was mistakenly delivered to another location (5 miles from my house) Walmart asked that I be patient for a few days, and in their language they said that sometimes packages are inadvertently left on the truck to be delivered another day. Sure sounds like that is what happened to your yarn.
CJ- I am happy for you that you are getting a Hobby lobby near you ! Is it closer to you than Joanns? HL….well they do not have quite the extensive fabric selection that Joanns has. Their overall craft section is a bit better than Joanns, they home Dec section is lovely. I like their floral section too, and their framing department did an outstanding job on a cross stitch my DSIL made for my son. HL does not really fill all the needs of a Joanns, but mine is a clean store, pretty well run and the staff a bit more available than Joanns (which tends, by me to be short staffed). I am glad you were able to find a grey fabric and a nice off white fabric also. It’s good that you will eventually have an alternative to Joanns.
Getting cold here and the temps are supposed to drop during the day. Ends up, I worked a lot today and had some trouble with my propane stove- so that took my crafting time away. I spent a lot of time reading the manual and slowly working through the troubleshooting. Then Ds came home, and took it upon himself and got it going once again. (I was going to do what he did today tomorrow when I had more energy ) glad it’s running and I can stay cozy in that room during the cold weekend.
Going to go check out my walmart.com cart and order the batting they had. It’s a decent price and I know they will get it to me quickly.
Sue and Phyl hope you are both doing well. So hard to believe its February. G

Yikes, it’s gonna be cold here tonight! Think in the early morning hours my temps go under zero. And it’s super windy. I did get to trip my PMQ, and measure it, now off to measure the inner border pieces so that they can go on.

Yikes is right! Having just experienced several days of below zero my self, I feel for you. The wind only makes it worse. It got above 40 here today, barely, but still windy. I'm glad you were able to get all that you needed for the PMQ and have some time to work on it.
I've been busy much of the day but am now getting ready to sit and crochet
CJ, I hope you're having a good day

Hello Everyone I guess we are all getting some cold weather today. It was in the 20s and windy here today. It's still supposed to be cold tomorrow, but with less wind. Since I have trouble keeping the downstairs warm I do worry about any problems, but I think it would have to get really cold in the house before I'd have trouble with pipes - at least I hope so. The upstairs is so hot most of the time I don't have to worry about anything there. Ruth - Hope you enjoy your crocheting this evening. If those items on sale at JoAnns had been something I didn't have to go to the cutting table for, I would definitely have bought more of them. I really hate getting fabric cut for some reason. Lots of times the employee looks like they hate that job so I don't like to get in line with 20 bolts of fabric to cut. I would like it if they sold more precut 2 or 3 yard cuts of fabrics, but I know that probably isn't profitable for them. The precut 1 yard and 2 yard pieces they have are strange fabrics and I prefer the regular Keepsake fabrics. Ginny - I'm glad your DS was able to get your propane stove working. Hope you continue to make progress with getting your PMQ quilt done. I finished putting together the quilt top from the Melodic Mystery Quilt Along this morning, and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I'll try to put up a picture this weekend. The quilt top ended up measuring 70x70 - one of the largest tops I've ever made. I think I only have about 5 that are larger. It was tough moving it around my small sewing machine. I think this weekend I'll try to get my monthly Rainbow Scrap Challenge quilts done, and maybe some more hand quilting. This month's color for the challenge is pink. I'm trying to use my fat quarters this year so I'll be interested to see what I can pull out of there for these blocks. Take care everyone

Since I'm still on the computer tonight I thought I'd go ahead and post the picture of the quilt top I finished this morning. I've been "wrangling" with the furnace just trying to figure out if keeping it on constantly, even though it only runs about 10 minutes every half hour, is best or if it's good to let it shut off for an hour or so and then cut it back on. Who knows what is best But I'll probably be up several times tonight dealing with it. Hope you all are staying warm.

Years ago when we had a Joann's cutting was one of their problems. The people they had at the cutting table did not do a good job at all and often didn't have the fabri straight on the bolt and didn't give the customer the slightest bit extra so sometimes you ended up with too little fabric. It was also not a well organized store so it closed.
CJ, I sure hope your furnace will work to keep you warm. It's such a worry when we have to constantly be concerned about having heat and not having damage to our homes. I'm sure thankful that our electric stayed on. Everything in the house is electric except the wood stove and we wouldn't have been able to use it with the wind we had and still have to a lesser degree. Fire in the wood stove also wouldn't have helped with preventing frozen and bursting pipes because it's upstairs away from where the pipes are which I think is the case in many homes even if the lower level is a basement instead of living space like I have and I think Ginny also has the same layout. Anyway I got off track. I think this is the most beautiful of quilt tops you have shown us, CJ. I LOVE the colors and the way the blocks are put together are absolutely wonderful also.
And, Ginny, I did forget to mention how glad I am that your ds got the propane burner working. I know you have other heat but in the event of a power outage a blower on a furnace won't work so at least you wouold have the heat in the room where the propane burner is

Hello Ruth - I'm glad your electric stayed on during these cold tempertaures too. It really is a lot of work taking care of a house, and much harder with bad weather. Thanks for your kind words on my quilt top. I'm happy with the colors and pattern too. Ginny - Hope you are doing well and making out alright in the cold weather. The furnace did alright last night. I turned it off and on a few times, but by 3:00 I just went to sleep and it seemed to work O.K. It was 69 downstairs this morning and I'm trying to get it about 75 by this evening. It's getting milder here tomorrow so that should be fine. I started working on my Rainbow Scrap Challenge blocks for February and have everything cut out for the blocks, just need to piece them together. I hope to finish them tomorrow. Hope you get to do some crafting too. Take care!

CJ- I would think that a furnace running for 10 minutes of every hour is better than a larger swing in the on off cycle….10 minutes out of 60 to run shows greater control and better ability to maintain temperature. Of course that would become a longer run time during super cold temps. Oh yes, the cutting table at Joanns can be a real headache. Gotta say the HL cutting table can be a problem also, but their fabric section is smaller so the line at the cutting table is not usually such a big deal. Your quilt is adorable- is that the melodic mystery quilt? Will you quilt this one or are you done with it?
Ruth - yes I am so glad to hear that you kept your power and are staying warm. Have you been able to get much crocheting done?
Woke up to temps below zero this am. Last night I snuck a sleeping bag into Ds’s car….just in case. I asked him this evening if he minded…he said he was actually going to put a blanket in his car. Busy day, got a lot of cleaning and laundry done. Dd came over with DGS, and was here for a few hours. I had some cleaning up to do outside, it was so very windy last night that some stuff blew around. I had hoped to quilt- but by the time I got done with housework and DD’s visit, well it was late for me to have to start thinking. I do not have much to do tomorrow, and so I can work on it tomorrow. The quilt is trimmed and ready for the inner border to go on.

It's always a good idea to have emergency items such as a sleeping bag in your car in the winter. Also a flashlight, water, toilet paper, good gloves, candles and matches. Here they suggest you have one of those toilet paper stoves in your car.If you light candles or the stove make sure to have ventilation. I doubt that either of you, that is Ginny or CJ, will have the occaision to have to use most of those things but with a sleeping bag, even if you get broken down or have a flat tire, or get stuck in snow in a town at least you can keep warm while waiting for AAA or whoever you would call.
I set aside my c2c for now. I'm making it with a size g hook and using 5 chains instead of 6 and hdc instead of dc so it's taking awhile and it's not for anyone in particular and I want to make some other things first
I hope you are both doing ok. It's strange not to see anyone until after 6pm your time.
It sure warmed up here. It was 50 today! It will be colder all week though but mostly 30's.

Hello Ginny - Hope you had a relaxing day after the busy one yesterday. The problem with the furnace is that it only runs for a few minutes at a time and doesn't give the radiators enough time to warm up. It takes several hours just to get any real heat in the downstairs radiators. No, I won't quilt this quilt (it was the mystery one). It's 70x70 and there is no way I want to deal with that on a domestic machine. I think it would be a good one for an edge to edge done on a longarm. Ruth - I'm glad you are having a mild temperature day and hope the cold coming this week won't be too bad. I finished my February blocks for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge, so that's one more monthly item done. I need to start working on my bitty houses for this month since I have to make 28 of them. I think some other blocks will be out for some quilt alongs this coming week too. Take care

Sorry, today just sort of became a bunch of unexpecteds …nothing horrible other than I did develop a headache which I hope disappears for tomorrow.
CJ, well I do get it, the pretty quilt is large to do on a home machine, although it is doable. Glad to hear that you finished your rainbow scrap challenge blocks for February. Hope you are enjoying those bitty house blocks, which are so cute.
Ruth, it’s good to hear that you have left the super cold weather behind for awhile. What are you going to work on instead of the C2C ? Knowing you, there is a new hat pattern that is calling your name or some other neat crochet pattern you want to work on.
Got a little bit ot time in on the PMQ- but the headache got the better of me. I was also supposed to meet someone to get the flash drive with Dh’s archeological work on it back and he called late, asking to be able to keep it for another week or so. That is fine by me, but just frustrating that I got stuck waiting for something that did not happen.
See ya tomorrow
