Hope that everyone slept well last night! I ended up in bed super early, so when I posted at 9 pm I had already gotten a little bit of sleep and woke up to unload the dishwasher to make my morning easier.
CJ- I have been meaning to ask you, do you have any intention on listening to or reading Harry’s memoir, Spare? I downloaded a copy from the Library yesterday, and will reserve comment in the event that you have plans to read or listen to it
Slept ok-
And I am seriously entertaining not finishing the PMQ. Will most likely add the second border but might not quilt it. I just do not like the fabric and if I ever do this again will use only fabrics of my choice not someone elses selection.

Add another project to my list, but this one ought to be simple. I have been asked to make a Tshirt quilt- so I will have to research how to stabilize the fabric and put one of those together. Cannot imagine that it’s too difficult.
Hope everyone had a good day!

Hello Everyone - Hope you are doing well and the weather is alright where you are It's in the 40s and cloudy here today. Ginny - I'm glad to hear you slept alright. I can understand not finishing the PMQ if you don't care for the fabrics in the quilt. There are too many other fun projects to work on I saw that pattern from A Quilting Life for the scrappy quilt. I printed off the pattern since it looks like a good one, but I wouldn't do it scrappy. Hope you can make it if you want. I will not be reading/listening to that Spare book. You're welcome to make your comments, it's just best not to get me started on the subject of him or his wife Ruth - Hope you are getting some crocheting done. Sue - Hope you are doing well and getting to do some crafting. Phyl - Hope you are well. I finished the next block for the BOM from A Quilting Life this morning, it was a nice quick and easy one. I'm doing the 12 inch blocks, but might try some fabrics and make the 6 inch version of this one. www.aquiltinglife.com/quilt-block-of-the-month-february-2023/Take care

Ginny, I agree with you and CJ about setting something aside if you don't care for it. Yes stabilizing t shirts for a quilt sounds like a challenge but I've know people that have made some CJ, The block she shows on there looks very "busy" with all the different fabrics with all kinds of patterns on them. But I bet when you make your's it will be beautiful as usual. It snowed here today so we decided to stay home but the day was pretty much wasted trying to get some things straightened out online. It's after 8pm and I just finished trying to set up sites, etc. Tomorrow we're going out for sure and have 6 places to stop so another wasted day. I feel that any day that has my crochet time taken away is a wasted day. Only good thing that happened is I got an email from the daughter of a 95 or so year old friend telling me that her mother is doing well and wants to try knitting again. She had given it up several years ago due to declining vision from Macular degeneration. So now I'm going to crochet and no one better bother me

CJ- we agree on Harry and his wife….and I swore that I would NOT spend a nickel on them by purchasing the book. I am renting it for free (which my tax dollars are paying for either way) from the library. Honestly the book is not infuriating me as much as I thought it would. I wish that that Prince William could write a companion book called “Heir”. Maybe then Harry would shut his constantly flowing mouth.
Ruth, well I hope you got some crochet time in….what a pain it is to have to set up accounts on the internet, and then of course checking to assure it all works ok. That is wonderful news about your 95 year old friend who still wants to knit!!! Inspiration for all of us!!!!
Going to watch a movie I have DVR’ed tonight to avoid any political nonsense that might be on. I will BBL to chat more G

Hello Ruth - Sorry it took so long to set up those online things, glad you got it done. I hope your errands today went well. It's wonderful to hear that your friend's mother wants to try knitting again Ginny - Hope you enjoyed the movie I'm glad you are saving your money and not buying that book Be prepared to read a book that is mostly lies and also information that should be private and not shared. It's really disgusting what some people will do for money, especially at the expense of their family! It was cloudy and around 50 here today, so not bad. I had to go out today to run errands and also met up with my DB and DSIL to exchange some things we've had for each other. I don't usually go out in the middle of the day, so it was kind of nice to do something different. I do prefer shopping in the early morning around 9:00 or so. It's just nicer with less people in the store and on the road. The new block for Pat Sloan's Holiday Hoopla quilt along came out today, so I hope to work on that soon. Also the new BOM basket quilt pattern came out and I've figured out my fabrics already for my blocks and hope to work on them soon too. Here are a few YouTube links in case you want to see the video for these blocks: www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_UDFSmd-DY&t=888s - Pat Sloan www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCoXFRaUNro - Basket block. I think this lady does really excellent instruction in her videos. Take care

Ginny, I'm doing the same. I don't want to hear or see anything political tonight so will be doing something else. I don't even want to read Harry's book so won't be doing that either.
CJ, thank you for the links. I especially like the quilt in the background with the scissors and spool of thread.I'm glad you had a chance to meet up with your db and sil.
I we out to do errands also and the day went well.I especially enjoyed seeing all m groceries being free after scanning dh's advantage plan card. Of course,, just like you said Ginny about the library book, this is paid for with our taxes so it's not actually free but at least we're getting back a share. I found out that my card is only good on OTC's not food. With all the places we went we didn't get home until about 5.
I'm working on my Jesus Loves Me blanket now. I revised the pattern quite a bit. The actual pattern is made with popcorn stitches but I'm doing bobble stitch. Also the pattern shows it all in one plain piece but I'm changing it to be like the Hugs and Love one I just did by making each word and then the part with two hearts and a cross separated by a row of bobbles and 2 rows of sc. I have the first section done, the other three are less bobbles.

My internet seems to be slow tonight, so I will save checking out the links CJ left for us for later on.
Ruth, glad that you were able to get so many items for free or at an excellent price. That is the one thing about sale shopping, it sure does take time and energy. But really happy to hear that the advantage card is working for you! Prices have gone up so much, it’s wonderful to hear about you and Dh getting a break. Wow, I am impressed that you are able to rework the Jesus Loves me blanket so much to replace the popcorn stitch with bobble stitch and then the design change to make it more like the Hugs and Love blanket. You really do know what you are doing with a crochet hook!!!
CJ- thanks for posting those two links. For some reason my IPad is taking forever to load them so I will check them out later. That is great that you were able to catch up with your DB and DSIL- hope that the roads were not too congested and that it was easy to get your errands done. That is exciting that you have your next blocks all lined up with fabrics and patterns. So tomorrow (or perhaps today) you broke out your machine and got some sewing done.
Spare. So here is my funny story. I slept poorly Monday night (usually do). So I got to DD’s to babysit the two little boys. I do try to get them to nap at the same time. The almost 3 year old actually tells me when he is tired, the almost 2 y ear old fights the nap but needs one just as badly. So I put them in for naps- and lay down in the next room on DGD’s bed to keep an ear out for DGS to make sure he fell asleep. I then decided to softly put on Spare (on my phone), listening while I kept an ear on DGS.Harry put me to sleep for about 45 minutes! (Ha ha ha). I woke up to him recounting the story of decapitating a goat. Wow. What an awful story. Slept poorly last night also…but I was going back into work so I lay down on the couch, set the timer and just wanted to try to listen to another chapter or two. Spare is LONG. And Harry tells a lot of stories that do not need to be told. Anyway, Harry put me to sleep again today! It’s a boring book. I am FINALLY into Part 3- (part 1 is childhood, sort of and Diana’s death, Part 2 is adolescence and his time in the military). Part 3 opens with him meeting Meghan. I do have a small amount more respect for him than when I started…but he is very full of himself. Ok we cannot relate to the tragic death of a mother- but all of us have faced tragic losses in our lives and much of what he drones on and on about is common to human beings, which Harry you are one. He has lived a very privileged life, when I last checked none of us have been bored and just decided to take ANOTHER trip to Africa. Its a 15 audio book. I have 5 left to go (mind you when I drive to DD’s house to babysit that takes up a fair amount of time. And I have listened to him when I went for walks. Right now I am very tired of him and will probably become even more tired of him when he really gets into his relationship with his wife. So glad I did not spend a cent on buying it.
Long day….and I hope that tomorrow I can get into more research on the t shirt quilt. I do need to see how many t shirts I am dealing with and that will help me decide.

Thank you, Ginny for the compliment on my crocheting skills. I'm definitely not an expert but I have improved in all of these years of grandchildren giving me challenges. I'm nearly done with part two. I have a half row left then it's on to part 3 which is easy as it has only the word "me" in it. I should get that done this evening if I don't allow myself to become distracted by looking at more patterns.
Ginny, you must have been very tired to have been able to nap while the grandboys napped. I'm glad you got those naps in. It doesn't sound like Harry's book is anything I want to read. I hope you can get to work on researching the info for the t shirt quilt.
CJ, I hope you're having a fun day making blocks and enjoying the beauty of them.
It's snowing here today so I'm glad we got our errands done yesterday although it actually just started snowing probably around 4.

Good morning, Ruth, Did you get much snow last night? It would be nice if it only snowed for a little while so not too much to have to clear. Were you able to get part 3 of the afghan done last night? I know it’s so tempting to see what others are doing…neat patterns and yarn combinations.
Slept 8 hours last night which is unheard of for me. I am supposed to get snow today, in about 15 minutes and my phone says the snow will last 8 minutes. How hysterical is that? DGS is coming here shortly, so I better get dressed and ready for his visit.
CJ- hope you slept well last night! Which block did you start working on next?

Hello Ginny - That's really nice to get 8 hours of sleep. I sure miss the days of that. The T-Shirt quilt sounds like it will be an interesting project. I'm sure there is lots of information on the Internet how to make those. Ruth - Hope you didn't get too much snow. I'm glad you got your errands done before it happened. Today is really nice here, mid-60s and partly sunny. I would say it's crazy weather, but we typically have some nice days in February, so I guess it's normal. Yesterday I starched and pressed fabrics, and then cut the pieces for 5 quilt blocks. A new block came out on Tuesday and Wednesday and the February basket block came out and I'm still going to try to make 3 versions of it. I have to say that cutting fabrics is one of my least favorite parts of quilting. This morning I put one of the blocks together, but it involved some ripping of seams. This block was a bit complicated for a Pat Sloan pattern. I have all the pieces ready for the other pattern of hers that came out on Tuesday and hope to get it put together. Then I'll work on the 3 basket blocks. Hope you all are having a nice day and that you get to do some crafting. Take care

Ginny, that is really great that you got to sleep 8 hours! I hope you have a good time with your dgs.
CJ, I Can't wait to have mid 60's temps here.
Today is fairly cold but not too windy so dh and I went outside to replace a piece of the fascia on the house that blew off in the extreme wind last week.DH also connected the charger to my car battery that had gone dead. Then we came in a put together sort of a stew in the slow cooker.I did get the third part of the blanket done last evening and am ready to start the 4th section which is more labor intensive than section 3 so this will take a little longer then I'll put on some sort of border.
Have a good evening everyone. I'll bbl to see if anyone has more to say.

Ok, so that 8 hours of sleep was preceded by two four hour nights and a ton of stress.
Ruth, sounds like you had a productive day. Sorry to learn that you had some damage to your home, and I hope that the fascia board replacement was easy for Dh. Wind can do so much damage. Stew in the slow cooker sounds wonderful and I hope that it’s a great winter meal for you two. Good progress on the blanket. Hope that the fourth section goes easily for you.
CJ- sure sounds like you have been busy! Like you, cutting fabric is the least favorite part of quilting. Think it’s that way for most quilters. When you are making 3 different versions, do you think you will end up making 3 different quilts or are you just evaluating which layout you like the best? Sorry you had to rip out some seams this morning, think the seam ripper is, unfortunately our best friend some times. Did you get to work on the basket blocks at all?
I am still slogging through Spare. The story has all kinds of holes in it- guess I should say inconsistencies. I will stick through it to the end. They have been playing garbage on the radio so I figure that by mid week I will be done with it and very happy to be done with it.
I have watched a few youtubes on t shirt quilts. (Got plans to embroider shortly). The big decider will be how many T shirts Dd wants me to use and how she wants it to look.
DGS was really good and took a long nap for me. A joy to babysit.

Hello - Hope you are all doing well and having nice weather. It's another sunny day in the 60s here. I just lost the post I was working on but I'm forcing myself to rewrite it Ruth - I'm glad you and your DH were able to fix that piece on the house. I hate wind ever since I lost part of the roof several years ago. I hope you enjoyed your stew and I'm glad to hear the blanket is coming along. Ginny - I'm glad you enjoyed babysitting your DGS and I hope you continue to get better sleep and less stress. I feel for your poor brain reading that book When I make several versions of a block for a quilt along it's with the plan to make a separate quilt top for each version and that's what I'll do with the basket blocks. I was very productive quilt-wise this morning and finished the second of those big Pat Sloan blocks from this week, all 3 of the basket blocks for February and also a cottage block from a pattern I saw on the Internet and wanted to try (so this was a test block). I'd like to make a bunch of those cottages in some pretty floral fabrics. Here are pictures of everything I've worked on the last few weeks, including the Jan and Feb blocks for the A Quilting Life 2023 BOM (the blue and green ones). The fabrics for the basket blocks are much prettier in person. Take care everyone and have a great weekend!
