CJ- sounds like you fell into the rabbit hole of buying fabric!! Yesterday Missouri had free shipping (which I did not avail myself of) but I did alert my friend because I know she was waiting for that opportunity to get some fabric for a baby quilt. It’s great when you are able to find pretty much everything you were looking for, and it seems that you were able to do just that. The planter/plant quilt will be a lovely spring-summer project for you to work on. You must have a very well organized stash- to be able to go shopping in your own supply!!
Funny about the oil change light/indicator. Dh changed the oil on our car, and I did at one point spend a ton of time figuring out how to update the car computer to reflect the oil change. Now the dealership does that for me and they also put a tiny sticker in the window to remind me when to have it done. I need all the help I can get.
Got myself set up for the local store shopping and BJ’s- which I will get to some time in the next week, but no rush.
And I did get more embroidery done. Gaps in the pattern are starting to fill in and it is inspiring me to work on it. Of course now with a week off looming ahead, I hope to get back to my machine and finish the PMQ. Lord knows what I will do with it…but I guess I will finish it.
Have a great day Ginny

Unexpectedly DD#2 and DGS stopped over….good to see them and DGS is a very funny little fellow. Gotta go check email.
It’s bird count weekend! I love this and enjoy keeping track of all my feathered friends. Turned much colder here in the past few hours so they are feeding more heavily.
See ya later.

Hello - Hope everyone is doing well today We started out today with warmer temps and rain, but this afternoon it's colder and windy. I think weather fronts are interesting, as long as they don't cause me problems Ginny - Hope you enjoy your bird count weekend. I'd be interested to hear some of the information you gather Hope you can get your PMQ quilt worked on this week. Ruth - Hope you are working on an enjoyable crochet project. I have a few projects that are half done, wish I lived close to you so I could just give them to you to finish for me Sue and Phyl - Hope you are well. I made the two blocks from the other BOM I mentioned and I'm not sure if I like them or not. I do like the colors - blues and purples and the fabrics, but my house block looks a bit wonky. These are the 6.5 inch versions. Maybe I need to try the 12.5 inch versions. I'll have to think about it. I also hand quilted one threaded needle this morning, I'm going to try to do one a day like I'm always saying I will I'm also attaching a picture of the latest Pat Sloan block, it was a small 6.5 inch this week, and a picture of all my blocks laid out in the order of her pattern. Working with these fabrics has been a stretch for me. I kind of like these colors together but it feels like a monotone quilt to me. I tried to add in some dark fabric and it looked terrible, so I'm just going with these fabrics for the rest of the quilt along. The last picture is one of the fabrics I ordered yesterday. I want to make a BQ2 quilt using it. I'm always attracted to these large, bright floral prints, but they are not easy to use in quilts. You really can't cut them too small or you lose the design. Here's a link where you can hopefully see some pictures of BQ2 quilts. I've made one before and they are really quick and easy. mapleislandquilts.com/gallery/bq-nation/#bq2Take care and have a great weekend!

I somehow missed yesterday's last two postings. CJ, we can never have too much fabric or yarn Someone did download the message feature about when the next oil change is due on my car computer but it definitely wasn't me and I don't think it was dh either so it had to be the service techs that have worked with my car. It also says that my tire pressure needs to be checked which I thought they were supposed to do with these certain # mile checks but I have no paperwork from them saying they did that. One thing I need to figure out is how to make the dash lights brighter and dimmer. All cars used to have a reostat that you could just reach and turn while driving. Now you have to go into the computer and do it somehow which seems like a very bad plan to me. Yes I do see why you wouldn't want to cut that large floral print fabric up too much. You would definitely lose some of the beauty of having all those flowers together. Sorry it got cold in your area.Oh and CJ, I sure would finish those crochet UFO's you have. Too bad we don't live closer.Since neither of us is fond of having visitors we could still be friends and help one another without being an annoyance. Ginny, how nice that your dd and grandbaby stopped over. It's great too that you have a week off. What are you going to do with your time besides shopping and finishing your PMQ. I know you'll find many things to fill that time with. One thing I would like to do with my stove in use the self cleaning feature but I'm afraid to have my stove that hot so I just use oven spray and arm power. One thing I want to do is try to open the acutual oven door window as something got in there and I need to get that cleaned inside. I saw how to do it on youtube but I'm afraid it won't go back together correctly. I spent a lot of time earlier today and yesterday too working on dh's appointments. One had to do with Social Security. He got a letter saying that someone was going to call him yesterday at 3pm for a n important phone meeting about his SS. She never called so I had to go thru all the hoops of trying to get thru all the "if you need this say or press 3,, if you need such and such dial 2", etc Then you have to listen to their extremely long message telling you how great they are and how much they can do for you. I finally got thru and it turned out that the woman that was supposed to call him works from home so the person who answered said she was going to leave the other person a message. We haven't heard from her since.Time today was spent going to their online site which is kind of like you're a rat running thru a maze. Then after that it was adjusting his app'ts for the MRI's and followup doctor visit. I did start another baby sweater. I've only ever made probably 4 baby sweaters and all but one were years ago so I had a hard time with doing the yoke. I think I have it down now. At least I have that yoke done and started on the main part. I'll work on it this evening. Have a great evening and night everyone

Good morning and Happy Saturday!
Ruth, indeed it’s kind of sad that you have to go into a computer of sorts to adjust the dashboard lights on your car. I really do not know for sure how to adjust mine but am confident ifs not too impossible. My car is set up (not in all areas but in more commonly used adjustments) so that a bumbling idiot like myself can struggle through. Good to hear that you have mastered the yoke on the baby sweater. Are you working with baby yarns ? And bless you if you are….baby yarn is so fine. Dealing with SS is insane- and it would be so nice if the recipient did not have to drag through the awful menu prompts and messages that they pollute their phone messages with. Oh my that stinks that after all the waiting and “press 3, press 4…..” you discovered that the person worked from home. So frustrating. Making medical appointments can be a disaster also. I might sound short sighted here, but I wonder why its all become so darned complicated now. I do not know if I will use the self cleaning option on my cooking stove or not. And it’s sure nice to have the oven window nice and clean. My last stove needed to have the window taken apart for cleaning, it was not awful but would have looked better if cleaned. Never got around t ot and the oven is gone now.
CJ- That floral fabric is so pretty, and affords you the chance to pull in lots of different colors to use in a quilt. Regarding the blue purple BOM, when the whole quilt top is done, I doubt that you will notice the “wonky” element that is bugging you. Really had you not drawn my eye to look for that, it would have not been so evident. I really like the peach/grey/off white blocks. It’s making a very elegant quilt top with slightly more muted tones. For the block that you are slightly bugged by (and tried adding a dark tone which did not look good to you) I might be tempted to bring in more of the grey fabric- if you have one. (I know you are trying to work from your stash). The other conditional is that colors do not come over the internet well, so anything I say might be complete nonsense in reality. Anyway, I was thinking to break up the intense peach a little bit- perhaps that is what is bothering you. It’s a really pretty block…just trying to help you troubleshoot.
Went to church last night for a practice for Sunday. We are adding a new song, which I did get to work on at home before we tried it. I will have to play it at home again today, to cement in my head how I will harmonize with the melody. Also I did get some more work done on the embroidery. Little by little it is becoming a picture.
I already started counting birds this weekend. I might take myself for a walk to the wildlife preserve later on to see what other birds I can see. Its gotta warm up a bit before I head out to do that.

Hello - Hope everyone is doing well today It was cold, but sunny here today. I'm looking forward to the milder weather this coming week. Ginny- Hope the bird counting is going well. With that coral/gray quilt there's not much I can do to tone down the coral, I think I just have to go with it I am doing all the sashing in gray, so hopefully it will all balance out. I picked these fabrics just to use them, so the quilt comes out however it comes out I started working on a new quilt this weekend. It uses 5 inch squares to make 4 patch blocks and then those blocks are sashed. I finished making all the 4 patches earlier and cut the fabrics to make the sashing, I just need to assemble the strip sets and cut them into the sashing pieces. I had two packs of 5x10 inch fabrics that were from the same designer so I'm using them for this quilt. Hope you all get to do some crafting this weekend too. Take care!

Seeing many different kinds of birds is just wonderful. A trip to the nature reserve sounds like a good thing to do if it's not too cold there yet.I'm not good at identifying a lot of birds but I love seeing them. One bird I didn't see last year in Indiana was the woodpecker that I think is called red breasted or something like that. In the past when I was there i saw a lot of them..
CJ, the new quilt sounds nice and that coral and gray is also going to be beautiful even if you did just want to use up the fabric and didn't have a great plan for it. I saw on the weather report that it's to be really cold in your neck of the woods.
We're supposed to get about 7 inches of snow starting tomorrow so I'm not looking forward to that. I hope the snow somehow goes away before time for doctor appointment and other plans we have.
I'm coming along on this sweater. It's not perfect but it really is very pretty.I'm about to start on the sleeves then will be the edging and it will be done.I was thinking of making the blanket that goes with it but it not only has holes but also yarn that is carried over like the cross over stitch so lots of places for little fingers to get stuck so I think I'll do the hat and that's all for this set...oh and the tiny socks.
Have a great weekend everyone.

Yes the red bellied woodpecker is quite a sight. Today I saw a song sparrow and a hairy woodpecker. Nothing exotic but I usually see them so it’s nice to see them “check in”.
I got some embroidery done and worked on the PMQ. I made a mistake on the PMQ border - 6 months ago- and had to rip a bit out. It’s sewn back in but now my car is on the quilt body. So now it’s time to go back to embroidery. Hahaha
Will stop back in later to say hello and not blab about myself

Hello Ruth - I hope the weather isn't too bad when you need to go out for the medical appointments. I'm glad you're enjoying making the pretty sweater Ginny - I'm glad you were able to embroider and work on your PMQ quilt. Hope you've enjoyed the birds this weekend. It was a nice day here, around 60 and sunny. They are saying that we might get a day in the high 70s this coming week! Last night I laid out my 4 patch blocks in the order I wanted them in each row, and then then I cut out the sashing pieces for the new quilt this morning and just need to piece them together. This is the quilt I'm making and mine is mostly in reds and blues too, with some pinks and off whites: www.jedicraftgirl.com/2022/07/4-patch-charm-quilt.htmlI'm hoping to work on it more tomorrow. Take care

CJ- are you using a charm pack for that quilt? What a cute pattern!!! Looks like it’s not very abusive either, a nice easy layout and the corners should be easy to keep neat. Bet that the two packs of quilts from one designer will work out great, and provide enough lights and darks that coordinate to make you feel confident about using those fabrics together. Gosh, a day in the 70’s this week? I am happy for you, but honestly I like winter. Great for your heating bills
Ruth, well contrast CJ’s weather with yours. Lord willing you did not get too much snow and it will not interfere with any appointments or errands that you need to get to. How is that sweater coming along? Sounds like it will be quite a pretty set for a little one. If you have the storage on your tablet or phone, try downloading the Merlin bird identification app. It’s maintained by Cornell University (yes, in NY) but is a national app. What is so neat is that you submit some basic data- rough size of bird, colors and what you saw it doing (flying, feeding etc….) and, based upon your approximate location, it provides a suggested list of birds. Most of the time I have been able to figure out what bird you are seeing. It’s fun and helpful.
Hope that Ruth has had a good day.
Got a little more embroidery done.
