There are plenty of days in which the closest we get to crafting is a visit here, so even if you have no time to craft, we would love to hear from you. We welcome newcomers to our friendly discussion! So glad you are here!! Please feel free to stop in and say hello!!

Here we go again!!
Hope everyone slept well last night. Ruth, I think that is a nice idea to plan on presenting the prayer shawl to DD on a second day. I hope that todays meeting with her goes well and that it’s a comfortable meeting. I will be praying for you and Dh as you see her. Enjoy your time together. I love your idea of the “guess” table runner for CJ’s runner. You are so right that most of the time we are our own biggest critics and it would take a trained eye to notice a small imperfection that seems to scream to the crafter.
CJ- yes I agree the table runner “problem” is no big deal, and is not noticeable unless you are really looking for it.
Wish I slept better, but got enough rest to make it through the day ok.

Mondays are always a bit crazy for me but today is going well enough. I have study tonight so I will probably not get back to my machine- might get to some embroidery however.
Ruth - hope that the visit with Dd was good.
CJ - how is your day going?

Hello Ruth - I hope your DD likes the prayer shawl. Ginny - I'm glad today wasn't too crazy for you. It was a nice sunny day here again, with temps around 60. I had to go out today and my errands took me a lot longer than I thought they would, so no crafting for me. I may need to cut back some on my quilting, since I think I really need to get serious about clearing things out of the house and maybe packing some things up. I saw a rental house advertised a few days ago that I thought I might be interested in. When I went to check today for the phone number to call about seeing it, it was already removed from the list of rentals! It just shows how quickly the types of housing I'm looking for gets taken. If I was a builder with a lot of money, I'd build all developments with small homes for seniors. There is a such a big market for that type of housing. I guess I'll keep looking but it will help to be more ready to move. Take care everyone!

CJ- yes I think that is a good idea to at least be poised for a move if that is what you want to do. In my area the housing market is also crazy and has been for a few years. It’s super competitive, making for a very aggressive process to buy/rent. I agree with you, it seems important to build sensible homes- instead of 6000 sq foot monster homes that are insane to heat/air condition and clean. There will be a time for you to do all the quilting you want…maybe set aside an hour or so a day to home organization/packing and then the rest of the day for quilting.
Ruth, hope you had a good day and a lovely visit with Dd

Hello Ginny - Hope you are doing well today Ruth - Hope your DH's MRI went well - I think it was today? It's a sunny, windy day here with temps in the 50s. Pretty typical for March. I was telling someone I always forget how windy March can be until it comes around each year. I was able to get a bunch of fabrics pressed, starched and cut for several quilt alongs/projects. I cut the fabric for this month's Rainbow Scrap Challenge where the color is green. I've been making 2 Ohio Star blocks, 3 flower blocks and two rows of tumbler pieces. I also cut the fabric for this month's block from A Quilting Life. It just so happens my fabrics for this month's block are green too And finally I cut some fabrics to try a block for the Harrisonburg quilt pattern. Pat Sloan is doing a quilt along for this and when we buy the pattern from the Virginia Quilt Museum it counts as a donation to them. If I like my block I will probably only make 3 or 4 of them and make a table runner, not the whole quilt. Here are some links: www.aquiltinglife.com/quilt-block-of-the-month-march-2023/www.ilovetomakequilts.com/harrisonburg-quilt-along-to-support-the-virginia-quilt-museum.htmlI also pulled the fabrics for this week's block for the Holiday Hoopla quilt along and just need to press and cut them. Then I'll be ready to piece 9 blocks! I enjoy that part though. Hope you get to do some crafting today. Take care

CJ, it sounds like you have a great deal of work done on all those quilts already. I went to both sites. The Harrisonburg quilt is just amazing but looks like it's is a real challenge. On the top link you posted the blocks actually look pretty Christmasy. I think it's a great idea to just work on packing and decided the destination of some of the thingsin your home. I've donated a lot of my "dust catchers" aka knick knacks and also a lot of other things but still have so much that if we were to move anytime soon it would be a major undertaking. And I sure agree that there should be more places for those of us that are older(although I'm quite a bit older than either of you) to buy or rent for a reasonable price. It's hard to get apartments or rental homes here too and prices are ridiculous.
Ginny, how was the Bible study yesterday? And you said Mondays are a busy day for you...well it seems to me that you are pretty busy everyday.
I didn't end up seeing my dd yesterday after all. She said she was not feeling well enough. We had no problem getting to dh's MRI appointment because thankfully we didn't get any accumulation of snow from the few snow showers we had in the last few days. Dh actually could have had both his MRI's because the one he had today...cervical on....didn't take long at all. When the tech called she seemed really concerned that he thought he could do two at one time because she said it would take a very long time and most people can't lie there quietly for that length of time.I hardly had any time to crochet while waiting. We stopped and did a little shopping on the way home then I did a little cleaning and now that it's nearly 5pm I'm ready to crochet.I tried several shawl patterns and didn't really care for most of them so I finally found one by one of my favorite video makers so am still working on it and when I get done I'm going to drop over to dd's house and give it to her

Good morning! Ruth, I am so sorry that your DD was not feeling well and had to postpone your visit with her. Think that is a great idea to get the prayer shawl done (with which ever pattern you decide upon) and visit her. I might be tempted to bring a pot of soup and a loaf of bread along for her….some of mom’s home cooking. I will pray that she feels better. That is wonderful that Dh’s MRI went so smoothly. Some folks can just lay there and relax during the test - yes some are also bothered by the small chamber that they use for the test. Hope that Dh gets good results/ answers. Bible study is a book on encouraging one another. Many ways I could discuss the topic - guess the gist of it is that if we are encouraging others we are blessed in the process and are following the example set for us. Hope you were able to get some crochet time in.
CJ- is it possible for you to visit that Virginia quilt museum? Sounds like it would be a neat place to visit if you could. I like the Harrisonburg pattern- have fun making it!! Glad you were able to get your fabrics out and pressed for upcoming projects. That is a good step to have done- now you can start working on your quilt tops when you are inspired to do so.
Let’s see, today is playdough day!! Making that with the little ones today. My crafting for yesterday was checking the shipping status of some fabric I bought- which ought to be arriving in a day or so.

Oddly enough, no one was interested in making play doh today, but the boys wanted to be outside- so I let them enjoy the sunshine and while not warm weather it was not terribly cold. They did color, so does that count as my crafting for the day? Actually, I am hoping to shower and then relax- getting some time in on my embroidery.
Looking forward to hearing how your day went- both Ruth and CJ.
Sue and Phyl! We miss hearing from you?
So a random question…my clocks change to daylight savings time this weekend. Do you like that or not? Me? Not a fan. The idea of losing an hour of sleep is awful to me and it takes a week or so to adjust my body clock.

Hello Ruth - I'm glad to hear your husband's MRI went well, too bad he couldn't have had the second one done at the same time. I hope you'll be able to take the prayer shawl over to your DD soon. Ginny - Sounds like the kids enjoyed the day. Hope you get to work on your embroidery. I wish they'd just leave the time alone and stop changing it. I could go to the Virginia Quilt Museum, but probably won't. My SIL and DB have been there and they said it was nice. I've watched a few video tours of it. I was able to make all my Rainbow Scrap Challenge blocks, one of my monthly quilt along blocks, and a Harrisonburg block today. My house was really cold downstairs until mid-afternoon, so I stayed upstairs and worked on my quilting. I have the fabrics ready for one of Pat Sloan's block and the fabrics for her other block just need to be cut. I hope I can get those two blocks made tomorrow or by Friday. I'll be caught up then but I think two more of the monthly blocks will be coming out within the next week. There is one quilt I would like to make this month, so I hope I might get to work on that. Take care

It sounds like the little fellows had an enjoyable day with playing outdoors and then coloring. It sounds like you supervising the coloring was a fun craft for you also. I don't like the changing of the times but I do like DST and wish they would keep it there are year. I'm sure many people, especially those like you, Ginny, who get up early in the morning prefer to have it light early in the day rather than have that extra hour of sun at the end of the day. I was sure surprised when in Indiana last year where they are on the very western edge of Eastern time, that it stayed light until 10:30 pm. That could make it very hard for some to get to sleep at a time they needed to do that in order to awaken early.
CJ, sorry to hear that your downstairs was so cold. You did accomplish a lot as usual and I hope you're able to get to that quilt you want to make along with keeping up on your current quilts that are in progress.
Today I did more cleaning and organizing, a little cooking, and now am crocheting. I'm finally getting the hang of doing this shawl but it looks like it might take some time so I'm hoping to get it done in the next couple days or at least by Monday. And Ginny, that was a great suggestion about taking dd some soup and a nice bread. Her dh does all the cooking but he's been working the last couple weeks so I'm sure she could use a good lunch. And her dh might appreciate it and have it for dinner instead of having to cook when he got home. Thank you for mentioning that.

Happy Thursday! CJ- sorry you had trouble getting your downstairs warmed up. Funny we know a lot about each other but in a way know so little. Is your sewing room up or down, convenient if you want to sew upstairs? Sounds like you got several blocks done and were very productive. I checked out for my own curiosity where the Virginia quilt museum is. Thankfully it’s not too far - not too awful to get to. Wish we lived closer we could go on a road trip together. Hope that you can get the blocks done that you want to tomorrow.
Ruth- hope that you are able to complete the shawl for DD before you get to see her! She is probably not expecting some homemade soup (yum) which is such a comfort food. I hope she is feeling better. When is Dh’s next MRI?
So glad to have a day off from babysitting. Love the little boys but it’s nice to have some time home. Got some ironing done on the quilt Strips as I try to figure out assembly. Time to embroider now!

My day today was about the same as yesterday...the usual...cooking cleaning, etc.Now for crochet.I did do a little this morning but not much
Ginny, the little grandboys sound very cute and nice little ones to be with but I understand your wishing and enjoying a day off and being able to work on a crafting project of your own.
CJ, I hope you're having a good day also. I'll bbl to see if you come in.I think I'd prefer the video tour too.I don't like to go places.

Hello Ginny - I'm glad you had a day off and were able to work on your quilt Ruth - Hope you can get the shawl done by Monday I think seeing that museum through a video tour might be good enough, unless there was a special exhibition to see. I don't like to go on trips much anymore. I was woken up around 6:00 A.M. this morning when my house alarm went off. I came downstairs to check on it and it was showing the alarm on one of the windows. I turned it off and I've had the alarm back on today and it's fine. It might be that the window came down a bit from the top since I've had problems with that. I did call the alarm company and we're going to wait and see if it goes off again before they come here. So I didn't get much done on quilting today since I couldn't go back to sleep and I came downstairs to move some things around in case the company needed to get to the window. I did work on a few blocks this evening and finished one of the Pat Sloan ones and just have the other to do. I thought I'd made all the half square triangles I needed but I misjudged it and I need to make 24 more of them, so I'll work on that tomorrow. The bedrooms and my sewing room are upstairs where it stays warmer with the furnace in the winter and hotter from the heat in the summer. The kitchen, computer and TVs are downstairs where it's cold in the winter and hot in the summer Take care

Good morning! CJ- so sorry about the alarm- which I hope was nothing other than the window shifting a bit as you mentioned. Hoping that the alarm just holds as you had mentioned. Has the alarm company scheduled a time/date that they will come to explore the situation? Lovely….only another 24 HST’s!!! I know you will get those made in minutes, but it’s discouraging thinking that you were finished with them and still have to make more. Thanks for the explanation of your sewing area. I know how much that does matter for a lot of reasons- both your comfort and ease of use. Good thing is with it all upstairs it keeps the sewing mess out of sight. Well sort of.
Ruth, hope that you got a lot of work done on the prayer shawl for DD. Funny how so much of our day can be taken up by the normal stuff, like cooking and cleaning.
Heading to the store this am- and then hope to have a quiet afternoon at home.
