Good morning and Happy Monday!
All crafters are welcome here as we discuss crafting, life and our weight loss journey. Crafting includes actual hands on crafting, such as crochetting, knitting, sewing, quilting, needlepoint, painting, jewelry making, etc.....plus reading craft catalogs, craft blogs, watching craft you tubes or other crafting videos, chatting here about crafting, chatting with another person about crafting, playing a musical instrument, reading craft emails, thinking about crafting, organizing crafting supplies, going into craft stores or the craft aisle in a store , attending craft fairs,or any other activity that inspires or directs your mind toward a crafting activity- even visiting us here to join in our posts!! There are plenty of days in which the closest we get to crafting is a visit here, so even if you have no time to craft, we would love to hear from you. We welcome newcomers to our friendly discussion! So glad you are here!! Please feel free to stop in and say hello!!

Well there seems to have been another school shooting this time including 3 nine year old children killed and this was done by a woman. What could possibly cause a woman to shoot children? Or anyone for that matter. I know this is extremely worrisome for anyone who has children or grandchildren in school and also for families of teachers and other staff members and I'm thankful that all my school age grandchildren are home schooled but I do have 3 great grands that attend public schools.

Sorry,Ginny, I hit send out of habit and when I realized that I didn't want to send another email to apologize that had the potential to disturb your sleep once again. I hope the first email didn't.
CJ,, I hope you had a good day today and were able to do something fun and relaxing

CJ- hope you are ok!! Did you have any luck contacting the car dealership regarding the sticker they owe you?
Ruth- sounds like your day was busy also. Don’t worry about an email awakening me. I usually check email on the IPad, which is normally not near where I sleep, and also do not accept alerts when I get an email (they come in silently).
Mental illness…such a problem…and this case is so confusing and makes no sense. Why take lives? the families need prayer.
I did order both charm packs yesterday. Looking forward to working on the quilts for the babies.

Hello - Hope you are doing well today and having nice weather. It was cloudy with some rain here yesterday, but today is more sunny. The temps have been nice - 50s and 60s. Ginny - The fabrics in those charm packs are cute, and I'm glad you found them to make your baby quilts. Ruth - Hope you are working on some crocheting projects. Our country is in a pretty sad place in my opinion, when you can't even go to school, work, church, the grocery store, the movies, etc., without a chance that you'll be a victim of a shooting. I feel for the people killed in these incidents and the families affected by them. I went out yesterday to run errands and do some shopping, so I didn't get to any quilting. This morning I sorted through the stack of fabric scraps and got them organized and put away. I told myself not to let it get like that again I also made a test block of a quilt pattern that I saw and liked (the Dandy block), here are some links: saneandcrazy.blogspot.com/ - This quilter made her quilt in pretty bright fabrics www.quilterscache.com/T/TheDandyQuiltBlock.html - here's the pattern Page 1 www.quilterscache.com/T/TheDandyQuiltBlock_Page2.html - here's the pattern Page 2 showing a layout of the quilt I'd like to make this quilt in just two fabrics, I think it would be pretty. I found another quilt site that has lots of blocks and patterns: quilttherapy.com/ - if you click on the on the tab at the top "Quilted Kitchen Quilt Blocks" and then click on a block, it has the pattern and each one also has a link to a recipe. I'm hoping to get working on that jelly roll quilt along soon. Take care and have a good day!

Ginny, I'm glad to hear that I didn't wake you when sending an email late at night. I like the fabrics you picked and I think that making the quilt in blocks is a great idea rather than panel. It sounds like more work though but I don't really know.I'm still wondering what happened to the panel I had a few years ago. I sure don't remember giving it away and I know I didn't make it into a whole quilt.
CJ that Kitchen block site could keep me busy for a long time looking up those recipes.I checked a couple of them already. The Sane and Crazy quilt is really pretty. It's very spring with those colors..they're happy colors. And, yes, I can only imagine how devastating it is to send a child to school in the morning and never see the child alive again.
On this present blanket I'm making I'm doing more ripping out than crocheting. Seems like I take one step forward on it and about 4 steps back. The berry stitches keep ending up not being aligned even though I think I'm checking as I go. It will be set aside for awhile anyway but I will get back to it when I have more time. Have a great evening. I'll stop back later

Sorry ladies that I did not get back here last night….i was so very tired and went to bed super early.
Cj will check out your links in a bit later on.
Ruth I have been there before where I start a new pattern and then have trouble with it. You experiment with new patterns all the time. This must be so frustrating for you….

Hello Ruth - Sorry to hear that project was not working out, hope you picked up another one to enjoy working on Ginny - Hope you feel rested today I think I've decided not to do the jelly roll quilt along. I just wasn't happy with the jelly roll I had to use, even though I do like the quilt pattern for this quilt along. Pat Sloan's next block for Sweet Childhood Memories came out today and it's an easy flower block so I hope to get it made later. I think there are only 5 blocks left. Looks like a nice sunny day here, hope your weather is nice too. Take care

Sorry to get here later than I thought I would!!!
Ruth, just wondering if you remember when I was making “my” baby afghan - when I tried out 3 or 4 different patterns before I settled on “my” pattern- the one I gave you. I am just not brave and like patterns that I know I can handle with ease. You- brave woman- take on much more difficult patterns and are always learning new patterns. Hopefully you have found a pattern that is working out for you with minimal ripping out. That must be very frustrating if the berry stitches are not aligning.
CJ- Good for you!!!! Do you think you will use the jelly roll for another quilt and eliminated it from the quilt along. I wonder if you will pick up another jelly roll, or just decided to let this QAL pass? That easy flower block for the SCM Pat Sloan quilt sounds cute. A simple flower block, in spring? Perfect!!!! The sane and crazy quilt sure is colorful. It looks sort of like a log cabin maze quilt block with nice bright fabrics. (Sometimes I like bright, sometimes I do not). I also checked out the dandy quilt block site, and saw that she showed (by clicking on a quilters name) the different fabrics used by different quilters. It seems as though many did just use two fabrics- and the effect is stunning. Looking forward to seeing what two fabrics you use!
I could have slept better last night, but did get more sleep than the night prior. I am hoping I sleep well tonight…but only have 2 more mornings that I need to get up and then it’s time for spring break. My spring birds are back and I am hoping that I can get a few mornings next week that I can bundle up a bit but enjoy my tea outside watching the birds feeding in the am.
My fabric arrived!!! I was surprised- Ds told me he was expecting a package, so I did head out at 3:30 when his package was delivered. Then I quickly checked my phone, and saw a notice that a little over an hour later my fabric came. I like it and am glad I ordered the charm packs. To answer Ruth’s question, to make the quilts with panels, I would have to cut a border and the corner blocks with a bunch of seams. Using charm packs all the cutting is done for me. I will need to purchase a small amount of fabric for a small border and binding, and will use quilting flannel for the back of each quilt. I can get away with the same flannel for the back of the two quilts because the color scheme is very similar. Tomorrow I hope to work on the layout of the charm pack squares and get busy sewing. An easy quilt? Yes, But I have to make two before July.
Got a walk in today. I need to get serious about getting back on program.. and will step on the scale in a day or so. I do not think I have gained, but I do need to lose.
Have a great evening Ginny

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all well today and having nice weather. It's a lot colder here, but a sunny day. Ginny - I'm glad you received your fabric so quickly and hope you have time to start working on your layout. I'll just use that jelly roll in another quilt. Ruth - Hope you can get some crocheting done today. I finished the most recent block for the Sweet Childhood Memories quilt along, it was a nice easy flower block: www.ilovetomakequilts.com/2023/03/sweet-childhood-memories-block-13-and-my-secret-purchase.htmlAnd I've assembled all of the top that I can get done so far. I'm not sure if I'll do the border Pat Sloan has picked for this quilt along, since it's a lot of half square triangles. I may just make some of them and put them around the corners of the outside border. Or I may just put on a regular border. Take care and have a good day!

Ruth- good to see you !! A shame that you were not able to get any crafting in yesterday. Hope that today is a better day and that you are able to relax and crochet
CJ - yes that is a simple floral block! Simple but pretty.. mind you I do like complicated quilts but sometimes the simpler ones just seem to resonate with me better. Do not blame you if you want to make the border less fussy. Think your idea to modify the border to use less hst’s is a great idea.
I am tired. Think I worked 8 hours today- which is fine- I cannot work much tomorrow and school is closed next week. I hope to get some embroidery time in this evening. It was a cold day today- nice to be in my warm house
