Goodnight everyone. I hope you both get a good rest esp you, Ginny, who worked so much today.
CJ, the flower block is very pretty and it does look pretty easy but it probably still isn't anything I could do or at least do well.
I did get some crocheting in with my dgd crocheting beside me. She is very good for someone that just started crocheting not long ago. Her stitches are more even than mine.
See you all sometime tomorrow. Gonna do some shopping tomorrow

Hello Ginny - Hope you rested well last night and that you'll enjoy having next week off Ruth - How fun to get to crochet with your DGD. Hope your shopping goes well It's milder here and tomorrow it's supposed to be windy and maybe thunderstorms. I sure hope they aren't bad. I started sewing some of those jelly roll strips together and I think I've figured out what I'm going to make with them. I'm just going by a picture I've seen, no pattern, so we'll see how that works out Hope you get to do some crafting today and that you have a great weekend!

Ruth, what a joy to be able to crochet with your DGD!!!! Great memories in the making for sure. How was your shopping trip? Wer you able to find everything you wanted to?
CJ, hope the wind and thunderstorms pass quickly and do not impact you a bit. Praying your house stays strong and sturdy throughout. That is great that you have been able to figure out what you will do with those jelly roll strips. I have total confidence in your ability to make them look like you have planned, you have done enough quilting that I know you will figure it out.
Today was a bunch of running around- and I am so very very glad it’s over. I worked this am, and then got my hair done after lunch. After that I went to pick up an item I ordered online from a store, and the driving in that area was awful. Actually sick and pathetic best describes it. Two absolutely awful decisions while driving almost caused a very serious accident. People drive so selfishly now…what a crazy world. Very glad to be home and safe, thank you Lord.
My crafting for today might be looking for the correct thread for the baby quilts. I know I have one spool, but with making two quilts, I might order two spools to play it safe. Quilting sure uses a lot of thread.
Hope everyone had a great day and can get some crafting in.

Happy Saturday!! I did find two more spools of the same color blue thread (which I had picked up a few years ago). So I feel confident that I can start and finish one baby quilt, not sure how far into the second I can get. But it’s a start.
Think my weather is supposed to get close to 70 today. Yikes that is warm for April 1 where I live. My chimney needs some work (which I suspect is all cosmetic). Got someone coming over to give me a second estimate to take care of that. I also know that I should be investigating a new hot water heater (mine is old). The joys of homeownership!!!
As far as crafting goes, I will be taking the charm packs of one fabric apart and working on a layout for the baby quilt. BBL to see who has checked in. G

Hello - Hope everyone is doing well today. It started out with some rain this morning, but we have sun this afternoon and temps in the high 70s. I think there is a chance of a thunderstorm and more wind later. Ginny - I'm glad you found the thread, and hope you were able to work on the charm pack fabrics. Ruth - Hope you are doing some more crochet. I did some more work on the jelly roll quilt and have 32 of the strips sewn together. I just need to make a few star block and see if I'm going to like how I was planning to put them into this quilt. Hope to work on it more tomorrow. Take care

It was a busy day today also but now all has quieted down for now. I did get some crocheting done last evening again with dgd. Now I won't see her again for awhile. She does a nice job. I'm about to get my crocheting out. I've checked youtube for notifications of new crochet videos and I am now just ready to sit and do the actual crocheting which won't be from any of the videos I saw today.
CJ, I hope the layout you visualized will turn out so that you really like it. We had thunderstorms all night and it's very windy here today so it will move to you, I'm sure.
Ginny, I hope the chimney issue is a simple repair and that you're able to find a good water heater that will meet your needs for many years and a good person to install it. I don't know if you remember the issue we had with getting a defective water heater and all the hoops we had to jump through to get it replaced It wasn't an error in installation, it was exactly what I told them....a defective water heater..period!We were required to have a plumber or electrician come out to verify and yes they did agree it was defective. Maintenance problems....huge pain in the neck

CJ- were you able to figure out how you are going to add the star blocks to the jelly roll quilt? Your weather sounds a bit like mine- some Rain and wind. Do you have a dramatic temperature drop tomorrow?
Ruth, sounds like so much fun crocheting with DGD!! It seems as though you will be working from existing patterns you have, which honestly I find easier than working from a video. WIshing you a relaxing evening of crochet.
Guess It will be a few days before I get my chimney quote. This gentleman suggested a slightly different approach to making the repair. The chimney is intact and ok but does need protection from the elements. I am curious to see what his cost will be. My Dd had to have a new hot water tank installed about 6 months ago. I will email my plumber and ask for a quote. It’s always something.
Ds got stuck for another double. Praying for his safe return home late this evening, when the weather changes, It was a warm day but the temps drop overnight along with wind.

Ginny, I meant to say I'm glad you found the other spool of thread you needed. I saw this message about 20 minutes ago and have prayed for safe travel for your son. I pray for safe travel often because I know he works many doubles and often other days have bad weather. I hope the chimney work is not too expensive and hope your plumber gives you a good price on installation of your new water heater. Will you check choices for the new heater online or visit several home improvement stores?
When I do use a video that doesn't also have a written pattern I almost always write the pattern out. I can't crochet and concentrate enough at the same time.

Hello Ginny - I hope you son had safe travels. Ruth - I write out a lot of patterns I see on videos too. It's a sunny day here and the winds have finally calmed down, it's quite a bit colder though. I finished piecing the quilt top using the jelly roll. I did use the star blocks. This pattern has column of stars pieced between the cut up jelly roll strips. You sew 32 strips together and then cut off part of one side and then put the column of stars between the cut apart jelly roll strips. It was a pretty quick quilt top to put together and I would make it again. It might be nice to put churn dash blocks in that column instead of stars - but you could use any quilt block. This week all the new monthly blocks will start coming out so that will keep me busy. This month's color for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge is purple, so I hope to find some nice purple fabrics in my stash to use. Hope you are having a nice day and getting to do some crafting. Take care

It was a nice day here too. I think it got up to 69 and no wind. Sunny also.
Today I've been cleaning and organizing. Then I started a fruit hammock because I don't want to use coJnter space when I can have something hanging that uses space formerly not used.
CJ, it sounds like there are a lot of possibilities for making that same quilt top entirely different using other blocks where those star blocks are in the one you just finished. It's nice to have something that's very versatile.
I hope you both had a good day

And Ruth, when you get done cleaning, my place needs help! Are you using cotton yarn for the hammock? Or what kind of yarn? Those are nice because they allow air to get around the fruit. Hope it turns out well, and I am sure it will. Bet you are loving the warmer temperatures.
CJ-congrats on using the jelly roll and star block. It sounds awfully pretty, and a nice way to get the star block (or churn dash in). Do you have a decent amount of purple fabrics?
I think, ha ha ha, I finished the layout for the first baby quilt. I will let it be overnight, take one final look at it tomorrow and start sewing. so much cooler here today…that is ok. I do not mind it one bit.

Above was a typo, It got to 60 not 69
Ginny, I'm glad you were able to get the layout for one of the baby quilts. I think you said you have this week off so maybe you can finish them both. Well you probably have other plans for your time too besides doing quilting.
