Well, looks like we are all checking in at about the same time. CJ- you have been busy quilting today!!! Glad your newest jelly roll has arrived (always fun to look at new fabric, isn’t it?) and I am happy to hear that the wall hanging is finished. Are you happy with how it turned out? Ruth, I am sure you will figure out a great way to make the light pink, dark pink, blue and white. Are you considering (and do you have the yarn to) leave the light pink out? Got total confidence in you and surely you will be able to make a beautiful afghan. Heck, my IPad messes up plenty and does what it wants to do…. I am really tired. I know it’s a combination of allergies (which are awful today) and 5 days of insanity. I did get to start quilting the baby quilt, and am pretty happy with how it’s coming out. It’s my second quilt with a swirl pattern quilt design and I feel a bit better with the results. I figure i am about 1/4 of the way done with the quilting and hope to get more done tomorrow.

Thanks for the prayers Ruth….guess I will have to wait for tree season to fade out. It’s a fast and furious allergy season for those who are sensitive to it.
Cannot believe it….work just called me………… so I guess I will not get much quilting done today.
Anyway, my swirls are improving- but if you were to scrutinize them there are plenty of issues. The way I see it its a home made quilt and nothing is perfect.

Hello Ginny - Your swirls look beautiful on that quilt, the perfect design Sorry you have to work today. I hope you can get some rest the next few days and that you feel better soon. Ruth - Hope your blanket is coming along. I made the latest block of the week for Pat Sloan's quilt along this morning and also cut the fabric for, and pieced, the outer borders for this quilt. I already had the inner border strips pieced. So now I'll be able to sew it all together next week when the last block comes out. As much as I know I complain about the asymmetrical patterns that Pat Sloan uses for some of her quilt alongs, I do appreciate that she designs them in sections so you can piece those sections together as you get them finished. I'm trying so hard not to think about doing the next weekly quilt along I really think I need a break from them but I on the other hand I do like them. Here's a link to see the next one that she's going to do. The Fat Quarter shop has already done this one this year, so I've been able to see some people's quilts and I really do like all the star blocks. I was thinking of doing this with red, white and blue fabrics: blog.fatquartershop.com/triangles-on-a-roll-quilt-along-kick-off/ - you can scroll down to see the whole quilt top design and some color options Hope you all have a great day

We're expecting company this evening. We don't often have company but have had a bit lately. We're just not used to it. Did a bit of laundry today and hung it out and when company leaves I'll be doing the usual...crocheting.
CJ, I think it's a great idea to make that quilt in red, white and blue. In the blocks that have in at that site it looks amazing in the red, white, and blue.
Ginny, when work called I'm sure you went. If only all employees worked like you do we'd have a better world.

CJ, that quilt is so pretty! I am a sucker for star/Amish looking quilts and that one sure falls into that category. Do you think you will have to buy fabric to make it? Yes I agree it would be gorgeous in patriotic colors. Gosh, if I did not have so much to work on this year I would be tempted to work on that pattern myself. I know you will decide to do what’s right for you whether that be work on that quilt or pass it up. No need to stress about the amount of quotes that you make.
Ruth, I do understand how having company is a blessing but also can be stressful especially if you’re not used to company that often. Hope they stay just long enough so that you’re happy to see them but also give you some time off to yourself. Is your rash completely gone? Nice to hear that you’re hanging out your laundry, it is one of the things I really do. Enjoy about spring and summer is that I don’t have to use the dryer as much. My laundry pile needs to be repaired something that my son noticed a couple of days ago.
Yes, I did go into work this morning, and I ended up not going back this afternoon, which was why they called me. I had a safety meeting. I was mandated to attend and I just started feeling really sick while I was in the meeting. So I came home afterwards And went straight to bed. I did get a little bit of quilting done this afternoon and now I’m in bed for the night. My son picked up some cough syrup for me and I’m just now waiting for my Tylenol and cough medicine to kick in. I’m reasonably convinced that this is allergies, I do not have a fever, but I surely feel pretty rotten.
I did get a bit more done on the quilt, which I figured was about 40% quilted now. I hope to be able to finish it this weekend.

Hello Hope everyone is having nice weather. It's raining and in the 50s here. Ruth - I hope you enjoy your company Ginny - - I hope that you are feeling better today and that you get some rest this weekend. Hope you will be able to finish your quilt too. If I do that star quilt along I'd like to use as much of my own fabric as I can, that's what I try to do with most of these quilt alongs. Here are a few more upcoming quilt alongs you might be interested in: fortworthfabricstudio.com/blogs/patterns/2023-american-made-mystery-project - Fort Worth Fabric Studio free table runner quilt along, it doesn't last very long meadowmistdesigns.blogspot.com/ - Meadow Mist Mystery quilt starting in July. I did her last one and I like how she spreads out the amount you have to do each month. She also lets you have a sneak peek at the design for those of us who like to know what we are making. I always check out the sneak peak www.ilovetomakequilts.com/chicken-salad-qal.html - Pat Sloan quilt along using a Lori Holt pattern. I really want to do this one since I love the look of Lori Holt's Farm Girl Vintage quilt blocks. I don't really care for the busy border on this one, so I'd probably just add a regular border. www.fatquartershop.com/feeling-crabby-downloadable-pdf-quilt-pattern-wendy-sheppard?sscid=41k7_13eokz - Another quilt along pattern that Pat Sloan is doing this summer. I have a panel with a crab on it and I'm thinking about using it and making some of these crab blocks to make a quilt top. This morning I got all 6 row of the jelly roll quilt I'm working on done and the sashing fabric is ready to join them together. I hope to get this quilt top done pretty soon since I really need to work on the Coriander quilts jelly roll quilt along once I get the fabric in the mail (hopefully today). I need to get caught up to that one before the May clue comes out. Hope you all get to do some crafting today. Take care

Oh, Ginny, I'm so sorry you got to feeling so sick at your meeting and then after you got home. I hope you were able to get some rest and feel better by now.
CJ, I'm going to go and check out those sites in a little while. It sounds like you're going to have plenty to keep you busy for a long time
I do have enough yarn to leave out the light pink on that blanket but now that I have the colors arranged differently the light yarn looks good so I'll work on that today since it's rainy and wet and cold feeling

Ruth, crochetting is a wonderful project for a cold and rainy day….that is great that you figured out a yarn layout which permits both pinks and looks good. Sounds like it was just a rearrangement of the order of the colors and all is well. Did you get company last night, like you were expecting?
CJ- like you, I do not like surprises and would really prefer to see what the quilt or block would look like before I started. Guess I am a wimp! Think the crab block/quilt would be adorable, especially knowing the general area you live in. Sounds like an adorable idea to use crab panel, perhaps surrounded by some of those crab blocks. A sweet idea for sure. The other two sites, I went to their posts but because of the current lack of the sneak preview, I would not be tempted to work on those. The Fort Worth studio fabrics are really pretty….aw you will figure out what works best for you and make something beautiful. But then I do not need more projects to do- my project list is all set for the rest of the year.
So….I called in this am expecting to work only the am or pm. Felt decent enough to work both. My son picked up some great cough medicine for me ( I had a bad hacking cough last nite) and it really got me through the night. I do have rehearsal at church this evening - which I hope goes smoothly and quickly. I am really looking forward to getting home and just being home tomorrow. Think we are supposed to get a lot of rain over the weekend. I did get to spend a bit of time quilting- which was interrupted by the need to wind more bobbins. They are done and i can get back to quilting later on. My guess is 60% of the quilt is quilted

CJ, I looked at the links earller and I love the fabrics for the Ft Worth quilt. The second one most pictures would not show up on my laptop. The next one,,,at least I think it ws the next one..was supposed to be fish but before reading I thought they were arrowheads. I've never done and never will do a mystery crochet along. I have to see what it is before I work on it. I don't even like to watch youtube videos when they don't show the actual stitch or item they're crocheting before they start so always ff to near the end so that I can see what it is.
Ginny, I'm glad your ds found a good cough med that really helped. It's great that you feel better and hopefully will be able to sleep well again tonight.
I've been working on the blanket for much of the day and probably will do a lot more rows tonight. I hope to have this one done by Wed at the latest.I did get the yarn for the one I was working on before this one...the one I ran out of the pink for...so I'll work on it next and hope to bet that one done but next Wed. I think I'm having pink overload. I need to go on to other colors.

Pink overload….interesting concept but I do understand. Glad to learn that your yarn has arrived, your pink yarn!!! Hope that you are able to get the afghan finished by Wednesday. What is next on your crocheting agenda after that?
CJ- hope you had a great day of quilting or whatever you like to do.
Slept slightly late (until a little after 6). I had some issues with coughing last night and will most likely take another dose of cough suppressant tonight. Unfortunately for me, colds (or a period of very aggressive allergies) end up with this tickle cough which can be so frustrating.
I might attempt to quilt a bit but as it’s evening and I am getting tired I might not. Had a full day of rain, but not heavy rain. Honestly I do not mind the cooler temps or the rain one bit.

Ginny, sorry to hear that the tickle that causes the cough appeared and you were not able to sleep well because of it. I hope you can sleep well tonight. Since you are tired you are probably right to delay quilting.
I wonder where CJ is. Maybe she came here but didn't see any new posts so waited till later
I haven't really done much today. Just the usual cleaning and a little cooking. Ginny, this blanket with the dark and pale pink is the one that I hope to get done by Wed then there's the pink and white which uses the pink I just received day before yesterday and I woulld like that one done by the following Wed. I think that after that I'll start on some baby sweaters. Years ago I thought about making a baby blanket for each grandchild to hold onto for a child they might have someday. I've decided to make a sweater and maybe a little hat too with each blanket. That will keep me occupied and when I make the small sweaters it may give me enough practice in sweater making that I can maybe start making larger ones. I'd like to make one for myself sometime.

Hello Ginny - I hope you are feeling better and that you can work on your quilt soon. Ruth - Baby sweaters are so cute and sweet, and that's a great idea to make a little hat to go with them. Hope you enjoy working on them. We had a cloudy day here yesterday and then rain overnight and this morning, but it's back to cloudy again. The temps are alright - in the 60s. I finished the jelly roll quilt top today and I'm happy with how it came out. I was mostly happy to get to use this fabric line. The fabric I used for the sashing was a bit "stringy" but I put a nice wide border on the quilt so it finished well. Next I need to make the jelly roll strip sets for the Corey Yoder quilt along and hope to get them done soon since starting this coming week all the new monthly blocks will start coming out. Have a great day

Ruth, making all those sweaters and hats sure will keep you busy!! A sweet idea and a nice legacy- so that everyone will have something made by grandma. Honestly, I have knit sweaters made by my mom for my kids- they are new born sized and 6 months sized- practical sizes for little ones and everyone can use. I wonder if in the future if people will make baby sweaters. But you have granddaughters who crochet…so perhaps they will. Think it’s a great idea for you to make a sweater for yourself! I tried to make one for myself once, but raising a family got in the way. Maybe someday I will do that, but really doubt it’s gonna happen. You are such a talented crocheter, so I think making something for yourself would be lovely.
CJ- sounds like a busy weekend for you at the machine. Simply amazing how a nice border can correct for a multitude of sins- in your case a somewhat stringy sashing fabric.(ever wonder what is up with the wide variation in quilting fabric quality?) That is awesome that you are pleased with the jelly roll quilt top. Always nice to sew with fabric that brings a smile to your face. Were you able to work on the Corey Yoder quilt along? Sounds like a busy week for you with the new monthly blocks coming out.
Cold and wet here today. I did get to work on the baby quilt and just finished for the day, as it’s getting sort of late in the day. I stopped with only one last bobbin to sew, I figure I am 90% done with the quilting and then will have to figure out how to quilt the border. I am thinking I will do a simple wave stitch on the blue border…or at least change the needle color to blue so it blends better with the blue border.
Ds is working another double…will be driving home in heavy rain. Think my cold is almost clearing up. I did cough a bit and will take something before I go to bed to make sure that coughing is not a problem.
Really??? Monday tomorrow? Yikes. See you in the am.

CJ, I'm glad you're happy with the quilt you just completed. It does sound like you're going to have a busy week with getting current quilt work done then all the new monthly blocks being available this week.
Ginny, I'm glad you feel some better and hope that your cold or whatever it is will be competely gone by morning. Do you have busy week ahead. Well I guess that's a dumb question because it seems like every week is busy for you.
I did do some crocheting today and am on the last part of the blanket before the border so unless something strange happens it will be done by Wed for sure and maybe I can get a head start on finishing the other one. I do wonder if people use sweaters on babies. Or for that matter booties and hats. I know that many people now put those light fabric hats on their infants for the first couple weeks.
it was and still is cold and damp. It rained off and on all day. Also I can't believe it's yet another Monday tomorrow. See you then. Oh and, of course, it's also a new month
