Good morning! It’s getting a bit warmer here today…wish all summer just topped out at these temps. Hope to get back later on in the day.
Ruth, glad you checked in! Nope, I do not remember the coronation of Queen Elisabeth and do not think I was even here yet. I know you are not a fan of the royal family…gotta say I do not really like this King and my opinion of his wife is worse than that. I will enjoy watching the pageantry and enjoy that.
CJ- hope you have a great day.

Hello - Hope you are all well today and having nice weather. It's going to be really beautiful here today - sunny and I think around 70 degrees.
Ginny - I'm glad you decided how to move forward with the baby quilt and I hope you can get it bound this weekend.
Ruth - Hope you are working on a fun project. Any news about the cardinal?
I finished trimming the large jelly roll HST for the Sunny Days quilt along this morning and I started making the last quilt block for the Sweet Childhood Memories quilt along. I hope I can get that quilt top finished this weekend. And I need to get my machine cleaned out this weekend too, with a new needle and a new rotary blad put in.
Take care and have a great weekend!

Yes I don't think either of you were born by the time of Queen Elizabeth's coronation but if you want to see it in real time you'll have to be up at 5am edt which probably is no problem for Ginny. I guess I'll have to miss it because I would only be up at that time if there was a serious illness in a close family member, a birth in the immediate family. or if my house caught on fire.

Happy Saturday! I am so glad to have a day off….still have a lot to do today but thankfully I am not governed by a clock.
Ruth- I hope you are sleeping! Based upon your criteria for reasons why you would be awake- well I hope you are resting happily.
CJ - you are so diligent at maintaining your machine! Hope that you are able to get all the quilting time in this weekend that you want
Going to watch the coronation. Bbl

Hello - Hope you are doing well today and having nice weather. It's another sunny and mild day here. I do make sure to clean my machine once a month, but I know other quilters clean their machines much more often. I used to only clean it a few times a year, so I figure at least 12 times a year is better I finished the Sweet Childhood Memories quilt top this morning and I'm happy with how it came out. I always see things I would change because you don't know where the quilt is going at the beginning, but overall the fabric/color/shade is spread out pretty well. And now you all don't have to read about me complaining about the quilt along anymore I didn't get the cleaning done on my machine yet, since I figured I'd wait until after putting this quilt top together, so I hope to do that tomorrow. Then next week I can get working on some of the monthly block patterns that are coming out. Hope you all get to do some crafting this weekend. Take care!

Good morning!!!
Ruth, hope your weekend is going well- I am pretty sure that somehow you are able to get some crocheting time in.😉
CJ, that is great that you are pleased with the way the Sweet Childhood memories is turning out. It’s not complaining…it’s concern regarding how the fabric combinations will work out! And that is something we all are victim to, from yarn color combinations to fabric combinations, it’s just hard to know how a project will turn out until you actually get in the process. Then- when it seems it’s all going to be ok there is a big sigh of relief. I can hear that sigh of relief…..and it’s great to hear that you are so pleased with how it appears to be turning out.
Yesterday I helped my friend and her husband “open” the pool- getting the cover off without a lot of mess is a 3 person job. Her husband has a medical condition so he is not able to help a ton, so they really needed another pair of hands. Glad I was able to help. I did come home and get some yard work done and while I am a LONG way from being done, there are areas of small progress. The neat part about it is a former friend (lives in the next town over and we just got out of touch with each other over the years) was in my area and she saw me out. She is retiring soon, so we made plans to walk…and she also quilts. Nice to see her and we promised each other to get together to walk and perhaps do some quilting together.
I did DVR the coronation which I watched while I trimmed the baby quilt last night. Guess its time today to get busy on the binding.

Hello - Hope you are all well and having good weather. It's cloudy with some rain here today. Ginny - That was nice of you to help your neighbor. How nice to reconnect with your friend who is also a quilter. Hope you get your binding done. Ruth - Hope you are having a good weekend. This morning I cleaned my machine and put in a new needle. I also changed my rotary blade in the cutter. Then I made a few nine patches and pinwheel blocks from the scraps from my last few projects - so all those scraps are cleared away. I also made the backing and got out some batting for the table runner I made in March and then this afternoon I quilted it and bound it (I'd already made the binding), so that's done. I tried something different with the binding that I had attached to the back and pulled to the front - I used a zig zag stitch to sew it on the front. Since this was just a fun project for me the stitch worked well. I'm not sure I'd use it for a large quilt. Take care

Good afternoon, CK- glad you experimented with a zig zag stitch to finish a binding. Pretty sure that I used zig zag to finish my great nephew’s quilt a year ago. Like your project, it was a a fun project and a child’s quilt, so using a zig zag added a bit of whimsy. Do you normally attach a binding to the back and bring it to the front, or the reverse?? Not sure what I usually do…as I know I have done both. Glad to hear that you did get your machine cleaned out and rotary blade changed. Good way to start the month. Admittedly I do a mini clean up of my machine when I change bobbins. Congrats on getting the scraps cleared away….you worked so hard to get your scraps organized and used up that it sounds as though you are trying to avoid having a ton of scraps again. Your sense of organization is admirable. Bet you are glad that the Table runner is all done too. March (when you made the table runner) sounds so far away, when really its only a few weeks ago.
Ruth, hope you had a great weekend!! Look forward to hearing from you when you can check in.
Right now I am under the gazebo, but it’s getting cloudy and they say I am supposed to get some rain shortly. Guess I will head in soon Got some weeding/gardening in today. I also repaired a trellis that had partically fallen apart… planted potatoes, some zinnia seeds and lettuce. My peas are coming up well but I did not get great germination. I also moved some of my inside plants out (that usually go out for the summer) only 2 plants remain to be moved out. Still got a LOT of cleanup to do outside.
Off to cut a binding. see ya tomorrow.
think I will go inside and cut that binding for the baby quilt.
