Good evening!
CJ - how are you holding up with the warmer temps? Gosh it seemed like just last week we were chatting about air conditioning and being able to put it away for a long while. Now it’s almost time to break the units out again. Glad you got the basket blocks done and can now pick out fabrics for the next blocks. Must be frustrating to have to wait for the next block pattern to be provided.
Got some gardening done (ugh) but little by little it’s improving. I still have a lot of weeding and straightening up to do but I feel as though i am not as behind as other years. I did get the binding attached and started clipping it to the other side. But it’s after 7- and I make mistakes when I sew this late, so I will read outside for awhile.
Ruth - hope you had a great day! Ginny

I'm sure I stopped in here earlier. I must have gotten sidetracked.
My email has a place to report phishing but no where to report undesireable email of other kinds. Yes you can just mark them as junk mail but you still get them, as I'm sure you all know, the just go to the junk file. And if you block them they just change their ISP address I guess and keep sending.
Ginny, you are a very ambitious person. I finally even gave up planting tomato plants in pots. I still plant flowers and have plans for them this year but with the veggies we planted we got very little and some didn't grow at all. I'm sure if we invested a lot of money in good topsoil, mulch, etc we'd get more but cost wise it would be foolish for us to do that. It's a drought area and we spent a lot watering so gav toe up on it all.In your case you have a lot of people you can share your veggies with so I'm sure it's worth it for you.Another thing with us is the digging, planting and weeding. I'm really not strong enough anymore and with dh's medical issues he's unable too so we just have to make do. Gee, I can't even grow rhubarb or zucchini so obviously I don't have a green thumb.
Cj congratulations in getting all those blocks done. As Ginny said, It has to be frustrating having to wait a week for another block when you would ike to be able to just do those blocks when you do the others.

Not that ambitious…..really…mu rhubarb is up but I think I might transplant it as I wonder how happy it is where it is. The plants seem so small. I plant only enough for myself and only a limited amount of vegetables. It’s a tiny garden…. Yes, digging planting and weeding are WORK. It’s rough on my back. Last year Dd (for Mother’s Day) put two raised beds in my garden (she built them herself) so I am planting in those. Now i need rain in my area so that the seeds can germinate.

Raised beds are so nice. I wish I had some. My ds and dil have some kind of grow bags that they use for growing various things. There was a thread on the over 60's board that I used to post on. One of the women grew a tomato plant on the balcony of her condo type apt. She always got a ton of tomatoes. The only tomatoes I ever had a lot of was green tomatoes which hadn't ripened yet and were about to freeze. We used them in chili in the winter.
I've done some crocheting today but am getting to where I don't really want to spend all that time crocheting. I have nothing in mind to do instead and I love to have completed crochet items but, well, I guess I'm losing my "crojo"
I hope you both have had a great day
Wonder how Sue is doing

Good morning and happy Saturday! Ruth, perhaps those grow bags would work for you and Dh- the beauty of a hanging plant to grow tomatoes in is ease of watering and no weeding, or minimal weeding. They sound like a great idea. I have no idea what would work in your area (with reference to your weather) as the growing season is not something I am used to. Last year when dd made 2 beds for me, they are really just lumber on the ground made into beds (the size determined by you) and a few bags of topsoil put in them. I have not had great success with getting any yield- last year was a very dry summer.
CJ- how was your Friday?? When do the next block instructions become available for your BOM’s?
They begged, they pleaded…I ended up driving yesterday afternoon. ( a route that I had driven before). The kids were not bad, the route not horrible. Last night I chatte with my neighbor and found out that the little twin boys are due at the end of July - but as this is her 4th pregnancy - she is a bit older - so her doctor did say that all bets were off with regard to a due date. So that does help. Think I will work on the first baby quilt and finish it- then move to the tshirt quilt. Dd (who asked for it for her bday) has a birthday in a few weeks, so I better get busy on that.
Yes!! Sue, hope you are doing well and getting some crochet time in. Phyl, how are you feeling?

Yes having twins is a tricky thing. Many are born prematurely, others do fine. Sometimes the mother is on bedrest for the last month. There was a young woman who worked in the lab at the hospital I worked in. She worked all thru her pregnancy and each twin weighed over 8 pounds. I also know two people that didn't even know they were having twins until one was born and they found that there was a second one. All thatas was before doctors did so many sonograms and before the sono's were perfected to what they are today.
A t shirt quilt sounds as though it would be very difficult since the fabric is stretchy. I'm sure your dd will love it.
We're going to have a little company tomorrow so I have to get busy and get this place guest ready.
Oh I did work on my crochet blanket last evening. I do have a project in mind for the last two weeks of May.
CJ, we've missed you. I may have just missed your post.
Have a great day everyone!

Twins were born when my youngest DD was born- funny one was large and the other a pound or two less. The hospital actually had an ambulance ready for them to take them to a neonatal unit, and they took the smaller twin plus my Dd because she might have had complications at birth (which ended up most likely not being the case). So for my neighbor, it’s nice to know that I might have till t he end of July to make the second quilt. My wandered thinking that if she was due in early July then t he little ones might be born in a few short weeks.
From what I am reading the T shirt quilt is not too bad…just entails stabilizing the t shirts with a light weight interfacing or something similar. Ruth, glad you did get back into crocheting…that makes me feel better!!
CJ- how is your weekend going?

Hello - Hope you are doing well today and having good weather. It was very hot here yesterday, in the 80s but today is rainy in the 60s. Ginny - I'm glad you have some time to finish the baby blankets and that you can maybe get started on the TShirt quilt soon. Ruth - I'm glad you have a project in mind for the end of this month. Hope you enjoy your company tomorrow. I finished making the 10 blocks that I had fabric cut out for. I also cut the fabric for the monthly block that came out this week and it's an easy one so I hope to get it done this weekend. Then there is just one more monthly mystery block - I think it comes out next week. I hope to get working on another jelly roll project soon too, I'd like to get that top done by the end of this month. Take care

CJ- sure sounds like you have been busy quilting and making plans to start new projects! I wonder if you got some of the rainy weather that I heard was south of me.
Ruth - hope you had a good day and got some crocheting in.
Today I got no crafting done- but made plans for Dgd to take a quilting class with me and discussed with Dd how she wants her tshirt quilt made.
