Hope everyone slept well!!! I did get my binding strips cut, which is about all I wanted to accomplish last night. That must make CJ laugh, who makes entire quilts in one day and I am happy I got one little sub step done. This time of year is challenging for me as I have the outdoors to take care of now- my son usually does the grass, but it’s work getting the weeding done, mulching etc…. So that really takes away from any sewing time. Oh well. Maybe this evening I can sew the strips together - press the binding and get my clips out to start attaching it. I am looking forward to that quilt being done.
Guess my next project will be DD’s tshirt quilt which she wants as a birthday present. I doubt I will be done with it by her bday at the end of this month, but at least if I can get it started…that should work.

Mondays usually are a whole lot hectic…the library program I take the kids to was cancelled today (the librarian who runs it is sick).so I took the kids to the park. They are in for naps now….so I have done my share of cleaning, bed making,, laundry etc…not sure I will be able to check in later- but I hope that everyone has a great day.

Ginny, I'm sorry to hear that story time was cancelled but I'm sure going to the park was enjoyed by the little ones. The t shirt quilt doesn't sound easy but I hope it goes well for you. I'm sure that CJ didn't laugh. She and I have a lot more time than you do. In Casper there's a fake spring going on. Normally you can't do much yarn work until the beginning of June and I'll be doing a lot of it then. I don't mulch or water though. Since it's actually considered a desert area it's best to have a desert landscape to avoid wasting water. I'll be able to do a few things outdoors before then though.
CJ, I really liked that childhood memories quilt..the part that you showed us.You are certainly productive.
This last few days have been busy for me but it's quieter now. I did get some crocheting in but I found that the yarn I ordered to finish the pink and white blanket was not the right pink. That's the problem with ordering online..the colors don't show up as they should. If we go to Walmart in the next couple weeks I'll get some there. The label was lost on the ones I was using so didn't know the color name. The have some on sale at MM but that's who I got the non matching two from and they have two different lighter pinks and I don't know which to order
Ok, gotta get to come chores

Hello - Hope you are well and having good weather. It's getting hotter here, around 80 and sunny. Ginny - I'm glad your day was less hectic and I hope you can get the binding done on your quilt so you can start on the TShirt quilt. Ruth - Sorry to hear that pink yarn wasn't the right color and I hope you can get to Walmart to look for some there. This morning I pressed and cut the fabrics for my monthly Rainbow Scrap Challenge blocks, this month's color is Orange. I also cut the fabrics for the next block in the "A Quilting Life" quilt along. I hope I can get these blocks sewn together over the next few days. Hope you get to do some crafting too. Take care

Ruth, that is so discouraging that you do not have the right color pink. So frustrating and I did the exact same thing during covid, thought I was buying the same color grey and it was not. Close but no cigar. Hope that you can get to Walmart to get the proper color. Bet you are happier now that things have quieted down a bit.
CJ- as usual you are well organized and it sounds like you are ready for a day or two of quilting. Orange is a nice cheery color for a color of the month. Hope you can get everything done on schedule
All that housework I did??It was at DD’s house…so I am tired. The little ones keep asking if we were heading to my house after the library (which we usually do) but with the library program cancelled we stayed at DD’s and went to the park. They had a great time at the park- I will work on the binding tomorrow evening….really want that quilt out of the way so I can get busy on the tshirt quilt. Will have to watch a bunch of youtubes….and take it from there.

CJ, there are so many possibilities with orange. I know it's going to turn out great
Ginny, it did sound to me like the work you did was at your dd's house.I don't know her,of course, but I bet she's very happy to have all that done when she gets home.
a tornado hit the apartment building that 3 of my dgc live in. Luckily it was only an ef1 and just downed power lines and did some roof damage. No one was hurt.
So since I couldn't work on the pink and white blanket I started another one with that darker pink I used in the other blanket. I'm using the star stitch right now so we'll see if I stick to it.I do have another I want to get done before the end of the month but it's easy and fast so no problem that that I can foresee. You never know though.I had already started another a couple days ago but I'm not really real anxious to finish that one necessarily and probably won't have it done by the month end. I'm going to go work on it for a few minutes before I toddle off to bed

Hello - Hope you are well and having good weather. It's cooler here today with some off and on rain. Ruth - I'm glad your DGC are alright and hope their apartment building can be repaired soon. Ginny - Hope you got some rest last night. The monthly pattern for the basket block quilt along came out today, so I cut all the fabrics for those blocks too. I have the pieces for 10 blocks ready to be sewn together now, so I can take my time and work on them. There are only two more monthly blocks to come out in the next few weeks, so those will be quick to make. Hope you have a good day and get to do some crafting

CJ- as usual you are so organized to have the asset block fabrics all cut out. What a nice feeling to have the pieces for the 10 blocks all ready to go, so now putting those blocks together with a newly cleaned machine and a new needle should go well for you. Do you also have the fabric cut out for the last 2 monthly blocks also?
Ruth, indeed, so happy to hear that your grandkids are ok!! Power lines and roof damage is nothing in comparison to personal injury. Just good to learn that everyone is safe. Is the star stitch working out for you- do you like the way the yarn and the stitch are working together?
So, I was out for a bit last night and when I got home, I was in my bedroom, and heard a noise. It sounded like a racoon on my birdfeeder. Well I have nothing against raccoons but I do not want to feed them so I went out to bring in my feeder. It was not a raccoon at all, but a large black bear…my guess is 300 lbs. Well I stayed on the deck and yelled at it. (No wonder the cats were acting strangely when I got home). I did yell at it for a few minutes, think it figured out I was a crazy person and slowly retreated into the back yard, but not without grunting and groaning its displeasure. I did venture down and bring in the feeder, which I will do again tonight. Such fun.
I do a fair amount of housework for Dd and I think her MIL does some also. I would push myself much harder if I were home, but then I am babysitting for little ones and do not want to be always working. In the past 2 days I have completely taken apart and washed 2 of the kids beds. I know Dd does not have that kind of time to do that kind of cleaning. She has her hands full keeping up with cooking and basic laundry. And I did some spot vacuuming ….not sure how much she notices but I do just try to help. I do not want her returning home to a completely trashed home, that is discouraging.
Unfortunately an ornamental grass that I bought last spring has not come back. I did call Michigan bulb today and they are giving me a full refund. Will head out and makes sure it’s really dead (it was dead yesterday) and I figure that by now it ought to be coming out of dormancy. I took good care of it last year and am surprised that it did not winter well.

Ok, the grass is really dead….and while I was checking my son and I notice that the bear knocked over and broke the trunk (probably 3 inches in diameter) of a nut tree that is in the back. Kind of sad…but….as I was checking it out, Ds called to me and asked me to slowly turn around…..and a pair (male and female) of mallards walked up close to me. Then they realized I was not offering dinner to them and they flew away. There is a pond not terribly far from my house and they flew towards the pond. Not the first time we have had mallards in the back yard. About 6 years ago Dh and I enjoyed watching them hang out in the yard, and tried to feed them also. I do remember feeding ducks at the pond during covid (ordered the food from walmart). Kind of bittersweet seeing the ducks, but I do enjoy them.

CJ, you are indeed organized with getting fabrics ready and even prepared for blocks you know are coming up.It's great that you can work on several quilts at a time too.
Oh my goodness, Ginny, I'd be scared silly if a bear was in my yard. Actually I'd probably stand and look at it then start yelling at it. I've never seen mallards around my area. We have a large pond in the neighborhood too but have only seen Canada geese. I would think that most mothers of multiple children and esp those that work also don't take the children's beds apart. They just wouldn't have the time to do all the extras like that.Sorry about your ornamental grass. It's great that you're getting a refund. I once bought rhubarb plants...probably over 20 years ago. I bought two and they didn't come back the next year so I notified the company and they sent me replacements. The one does barely ok and the second one usually come up in spring but doesn't last long. I think that last year my yellow rose bush died. It will be interesting to see if it comes back to life.
no the star stitch didn't work for me and since my goal is to use up a large amount of yarn by the end of this money I ripped out all of it and started one in the sedge stitch. I put out a hummingbird feeder today. I haven't seen any hummers at it yet. I have seen the female cardinal checking out my fake cardinal but haven't seen any sign of the live male.

Oh my, I just made a big mistake and lost my post which thankfully was not too long.
Ruth, did you have the yellow rosebush very long? Thanks for the reminder on the hummingbird feeder and I hope that yours figures out that it’s getting it’s lunch served soon so you can enjoy watching them! That sure does stink that the start stitch did not work out for you. I know you will find something that does work and make a gorgeous afghan.
CJ- hope your day went well and that you are working hard on your basket blocks.
Got my bindings sewn and pressed and started wonder clipping them on. By the way I did stand on my deck and yell at the bear- loudly….before it finally decided I was either serious or crazy when it left grunting. I did get an email from Riley Blake quilts, they have some adorable kits which I will probably resist…. But I can dream.

Ginny, sorry you lost the post but, as you said, it's great that it wasn't a long one. I'm glad you got the binding on and are almost ready to sew. I actually, for some reason, thought that you were making two of the baby quilts.Ginny, you asked one time if I ever thought of making a temperature blanket. I never cared for that idea but just today I saw a CAL for one that is on that order but it's based on daily Bible reading nd you choose colors according to what type verses you read that day.you're supposed to do that part of the blanket every day so I don't know that I could keep up with the crocheting part.
Well for some reason today felt like a Monday to me so I did a lot of cleaning and a bit of reorganizing. It feels good to have it done. I also worked a little on the blanket. It's the sedge stitch. I realized today that I have exactly three weeks from today to meet those goals I set.
CJ I as reminded of you today when I ran again ran across a CAL for a holiday blanket. One block each month. I like some of the blocks and not others. I didn't look at the instructions to see if you're supposed to make mulltiples of each months block or if the 12 blocks are supposed to be the whole blanket. Either way it's easier than a quilt a long where you have to put multiple pieces together.
I keep forgetting to mention that I think that a porn site hacked Meg's email. Even though I keep blocking each time I still get emails that say they are picture of Meg's son. I never opened any but I doubt that Meg's son would like himself to be portrayed as a nude person

Gee, Ruth, I wonder how you can block that nonsense coming from Megs email. The porn sites are insidious and very tough to get out of a computer. That bible reading crochet blanket is a sweet idea…because crochet is so portable I might actually be able to keep up with a project like that. And I have another baby quilt to make, then 3 more quilts to get done this year before I get to work on a quilt that I want to make.

Hello Ginny - Hope you stay safe from that bear! I also hope you can get your binding done. Ruth - Hope you get some hummingbirds. The weather has been warmer here today and sunny. Hope your weather is nice. I finished making the five basket blocks today and still have the five other blocks to make. Also, the new monthly pattern for one of my quilt alongs came out today, so I'll need to get that fabric cut. I think the last monthly block doesn't come out until next week. Since I don't know what the pattern will be I have to wait for it to come out before I can cut any fabric. Hope you get to do some crafting today. Take care
