Getting the thread started.
I think I’ll start with posting info which might have historical facts and also birthdays. I’m only using one website so will not be all birthdays or historical facts but thought it might be interesting. Every now and then I’ll put out a riddle.
Birthday - Founder of Utah and patriarch of the Mormon church Brigham Young (1801-1877) was born in Whittingham, Vermont. Called the "American Moses," he led thousands of religious followers across the wilderness to settle over 300 towns in the West, including Salt Lake City, Utah.
Birthday - Marilyn Monroe (1926-1962) was born in Los Angeles (as Norma Jean Mortensen). Following an unstable childhood spent in foster homes and orphanages, she landed a job as a photographer's model which led to a movie career. She later married baseball legend Joe DiMaggio. Beneath her glamorous movie star looks she was fragile and insecure and eventually succumbed to the pressures of Hollywood life. She died in Los Angeles from an overdose of sleeping pills on August 5, 1962. Best known for Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953), The Seven Year Itch (1955), Bus Stop (1956), Some Like It Hot (1959), and The Misfits (1961).

Maddie doesn’t know about Cooper’s life before she got him. But he’s not afraid of anyone so I don’t think he was abused. But he was funny last night as Maddie and Fred went to get Kroger chicken for dinner and left while he was getting a drink in the kitchen and when he came out he was panicked that they were gone and was looking all over for them as he knew her car was still in the driveway and then he stuck like glue to me as though to say I might have lost the rest of the pack but I’m not losing you! I forgot to say when he got up yesterday morning and came down with Maddie he ran up to me to give me a big hug! I’ve never been hugged by a dog before.
It’ll be interesting to see how he reacts to seeing Debbie again on Friday and how he’ll react to Maija as she will definitely have cat scent on her. But I wonder how he’ll be when Maddie leaves with them Saturday afternoon to go partying with them and then doesn’t come back until Sunday. She said she’s sure he’ll sleep with us.
I said to Maddie at least I know they won’t drink and drive as they’ll be staying downtown and she looked at me and said grandma I don’t drink and drive and don’t get in a car with someone who’s been drinking. She said she actually walked two miles when she had been drinking rather than get in a car with someone who was drinking or driving herself. But I know Debbie is the same way and uses Uber when going out. I’m glad she can have time with them as they’re all very close.
But other than that no real plans as I just don’t feel right leaving Cooper. I’m sure he would be okay as all he does is sleep but I enjoy just being around him. But no it does not make me want a pet just enjoying him while he’s here.

Thanks Sandy , for taking June. Hard to believe it is already here, know you will do a good job and if some days you just feel like getting us started , that is okay as well.
I love Marilyn Monroe. Led such a sad life even before becoming a movie star. Hollywood was hard for her.
Not sure what I am going to be up to today. Right now just deciding on what to wear. My DGS could not come yesterday as they had 2 trees cut down he says he is coming after work today. He stayed home yesterday. ( didnt' let me know until last night-- he is the most unorganized one of the grandkids so didn't surprise me)
How does Cooper do in the car? He could go with you and one of you sit in car with him while the other one does errands. I see a lot of people do that, guess they feel guilty leaving dogs at home. Must be a thing!! I am way behind the times.
I fixed my land line phone!! But still I know it is old so going with the new one as well. I just rebooted like I do with computer and TV when something goes wrong. Yes they are all with Spectrum. Not sure why I didn't think of doing that before!! I was lost without it, since my cell phone is old and the phone not working all the time.

Good morning!
Betty, DH disposed of the bad detergent while I was in taking a nap. He is the one who does laundry (division of labor!) since we retired. So I don't even know what it was! I told him, I'll order the detergent on the computer from now on ( I do the online ordering) so I'll know what we use is safe for me. I never want that to happen again.
I liked Marilyn Monroe. She was the standard for feminine beauty in her day, and she was size 12 to 14. Made a "big girl" feel good! Compared to the anorexic models today, she was a good example of size.
Today, I think we'll have leftovers for dinner. That's the way we live. I made a chicken pie and we have half left. With a fresh salad, we'll be good.
Tomorrow, DD and family will be moving in three doors down in our apartment complex. It will be nice to have them close. Her DH is 60 so he makes them eligible to live here. Their 17 year old son will live with them, but that won't be a problem either. Several children live here. I don't think it's fair to move a small child in, but there are a few. We have no playground for them.

I'm gonna try to get Jim up when I am done typing. He is still in bed at 10:30 AM. I have heard him cough a couple times so he is not deep asleep.

Sandy, thanks for taking the thread for June. Summer is here in MN and the heat and humidity are high and we need rain.
I was out with Ozzie this morning and it was pretty nice then but haven't been out since and have the house all closed up so it's pretty comfortable in here without AC.
Haven't done much so far today. The new med makes me really sleepy so I do a little and then rest a little and so on.
Got all my monthly bills paid, kitchen and my BR cleaned and my sewing room straightened up.
I was never a big fan of Marilyn Monroe.
My landlord was here to work on the lawn but his mower broke so he couldn't finish. Did give him my rent check so didn't waste a stamp sending it.
Getting sleepy again.

I did a load of laundry last night. Now I have lots of clothes to choose from! I had some things that need Color Guard, so I had to wait until my Walmart order came. (I don't need pink underwear!) The only thing I did today was schedule my ride to a doctor's appointment. Our township has bus transportation for $2.00 both ways. It's a nice perk and I do use it a lot. It's 89 degrees outside with rain possible. Now there is blue skies with fluffy clouds.

Cooper does fine in the car as he did drive out from Virginia with Mike and Maddie. But it has been so hot here I would not take him in the car anywhere. As he gets more relaxed here he does spend more time sitting on the sofa watching what is going on outside. I was wondering if he’s the type of dog who only goes potty when we take him out but a little bit ago he was going back and forth between us and then he whined so I asked if he had to go out and he was jumping in the air and after I got him in the yard and took off his leash he ran to a spot and pooped. As I was cleaning it up he sat by the gate for me to put on the leash to take him back in. So guess he does let you know if he has to potty! I’m more amazed with him each day especially the no begging.

Dogs like AC too. My DGS's dogs love to go along and of course they don't leave them in hot car by themselves.
Also my DD takes her two big dogs for rides all the time. also AC lovers and rides especially.

Jim didn't get up for lunch since he ate breakfast so late but for dinner when done he was still hungry so I made him a lunch and he ate that too and dessert (his 70 calorie brownie) and still asking for more food so my patience left me completely and I said....You have a protein shake (100 calories) and cashew nuts so that is the only other food I will give you...(lots of protein). I think he finally just went back to sleep. I did go in and plug in the scooter since he has been forgetting to do that. Dementia sucks!
I have the sheets in the washer and will put in the dryer before I go to bed. I have only two sets but do have an extra top sheet for days when he sits on the top sheet which is not protected. It is slightly lighter in color but is lavender so doesn't look back with the other bottom sheet.
Tucking you in with our brand new blanket which is grass green and covered with all kinds of picnic food on it and the ants having their own picnic! (Thank you Sandy)
