This is a thread devoted to those in their 50s & 60s and beyond who don't have children or grandchildren but live rich, full lives. Please feel free to join our stroll thru life and come back often for support and to share.
BTW Chele checked in on yesterday's thread a few minutes ago with an update. She doesn't sound any better.

Liz, I'm glad you got all your errands run. Did you get your boots exchanged as well? Your back will appreciate the snow pusher, but I hope you don't get much opportunity to use it. Bringing home cookies and Godiva would not be a good thing for me. Are Gary's lobster cakes homemade? If so, will you share the recipe? Sinuses have pretty much cleared up for now and my biggest problem is lack of sleep. Phoebe had Dale in such a contorted position last night that he eventually went to the couch, which she didn't even seem to notice. After he got up, I felt I had to be extra diligent to ensure she didn't bother her wounds or get too close to the edge of the bed and fall out (which she has done before), so I didn't sleep well after that. Dale's back is still bothering him and every time he sits down, it is with a heating pad. Otherwise, he is working in the barn and I am babysitting
How is the back and knee today, Becky? Did you go to Curves?
Linda, a 3 lb gain isn't as bad as it could be, I guess, given the list of foods you mentioned being in the house. Is Bob's eating since the election out of despair or glee? Sorry about the GI discomfort. How are you feeling today? Good luck at getting things back under control.
Chele, what in the world kind of virus did you end up with? Are you still having difficulty keeping things in your system or are you just not hungry? I hope Iggy is home to take care of you. How does Teddy react when you are sick? Are you going to go to urgent care or ry to see the doctor if it doesn't clear up in a day or so?
Kathy, what are you doing with your time this week, besides watching the Orange Bowl on Friday? Are you going to watch WV and Miami this afternoon or USF and SC tomorrow afternoon?
The drugs seem to be working on Phoebe as she slept well through the night and has been pretty much out of it so far today. So I'm working on an afghan that I will give as a gift if it turns out well.
What's everyone got planned for New Year's Eve? Dale is requesting a cheeseball so I will get the ingredients when I go grocery shopping tomorrow and will also go to Joann Crafts to get iron on interfacing so I can start on t-shirt quilts as soon as I can get more than 5 feet from a hound dog.

Good afternoon Chicks and thanks for the start Karen.
Karen - sounds like you've had your hands full with Phoebe but happy to hear that she slept with the meds overnight finally. Perhaps you and Dale will finally be able to get a good nights sleep as well. The crab cakes were not home made by me but I bought them at Grains & Greens who do make them on premise. Gary seemed to really enjoy them which was nice. I just had a smoothie with fruit and muscle milk. Have no particular reason to be feeling tired and blue today but I do. May just be the let down from running around for the holidays; not really sure. Put a pork loin in the slow cooker for dinner and just need to get to the grocery to pick up some cauliflower to mash. Gary will be off as of tomorrow so maybe that will help my mood. I feel a bit silly but I guess these things will occur. Haven't returned the boots yet Karen and am still trying to figure out what I want to return them in exchange for. Did submit a billing dispute for the hoodie I ordered for DN for Christmas which never showed up. Lesson I learned is always check out a web site FIRST before ordering. I am glad to hear the sinuses are doing better but do hope you can catch a nap to help offset your sleep deprivation!
Chele - I shouldn't complain at all with you not being able to eat and still having your head hurt. I truly hope you feel better soon! I thought I was starting a small headache earlier but it seemed to subside for now. The weather is certainly not helping anyone with its ups and downs and now they are saying 1-3 inches of snow tomorrow.
Becky - hope you are having a good day and that your tummy has settled down.
Linda - how is the walking coming along? I am being a veg today with not much energy and just wanting to snuggle with the pups and do nothing.
Kathy - how are you doing this week? Any plans for you or are you relaxing?
Gary and I will go to our friends' house up the street for NYE which we have done for the past few years. He is the chef and always makes a lovely dinner, I will bring wine and dessert. We aren't much for NYE events and haven't been for many years. Too many nuts on the road and we're happy being close to home. As Karen asked, how about everyone else?
Have a good afternoon and enjoy your day! Ciao for now lovely ladies!

Spouse and I tend to eat when depressed or stressed.
Finally got myself back to volunteer job at Tempe History museum. Did few groceries on the way home. Then I used leftover roast to make hash to go with Greek salad tonight so when I run out of steam the cooking us done .
made glazed carrots and scalloped potatoes to go with ham tomorrow when we have company. Set the table. I do not leave things to chance in the headache month. The air quality is bad again because the cool weather and clouds trap the pollution. Lot of people get headaches and feel like they have allergies.
Seems like everybody is tired here too. Holiday ending let down?

Karen,Thanks for the start.I'm glad Phoebe slept better last night.I hope that means you were able to sleep too.My right knee still hurts to the point where I can't completely straighten out my leg.My back was better during the day but is hurting a little now but not as bad as it was.I went to Curves this morning, then we went to HEB and WM.We ended up having a late lunch at home.I did go for a 1 mile walk this afternoon but I purposely walked slower than I normally would.I'm thinking about making a taco salad or something on that order for NYE.I'm going to grill pork chops on the Foreman tomorrow night.
Liz,We went to HEB to get a pork loin this morning and they were out.I hope you enjoyed yours.I hope you can get some rest. You are entitled to a day of snuggling with the pups.Enjoy your dinner with friends on NYE.
It was 85 here today but not expecting to get out of the 60's tomorrow. Will be a drastic change but as long as it's not raining will be okay.Sorry for the late reply.Just been running all day it seems like.
Chele,I hope your stomach bug is short lived.Take care of yourself.

www.fooducate.com/app#!page=product&id=18D0C2F2-2ED3-11E0-A55F-1231380C180E this will give you all sorts of nutritional info on Trader Joe's reduced guilt mac and cheese which is not bad. Even my impossible-to-please-with-ready-made-food spouse said he would have it with a salad as diet dinner. sometimes it is useful to have a thing you can zap!
