Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well today and having nice weather. It's been hot and sunny here and a bit more humid. I was able to finish all my monthly quilt along blocks this weekend, so I'm all caught up. I did decide to make the Haunted Halloween quilt from the quilt along by Fat Quarter Shop. Pat Sloan is doing this quilt along too. It's a nice wall hanging size and I made the bat and cat blocks. I'm waiting to make the stars until I see what the last block is tomorrow. www.ilovetomakequilts.com/halloween-mystery.htmlI made my cat block like Pat Sloan did and I like it better than the original block. These blocks go together quickly but there are a lot of small pieces to them. I hope you are getting to do some crafting too. Take care and have a great day

CJ, good to see you. I bet when you get all the current blocks for the weekly and monthly blocks you immediately feel as though you need to have another quilting project started or at least in mind. Is the block they show in that link the original or the Pat Sloan one you mentioned you like better?
Ginny, when I mentioned our weather and that it got down to 40 the other morning I was thinking of you and how you really like weather like that. Today is warmer and we'll have some 80's.
I started a new sweater using a different video and had a hard time with that first row. I finally slowed the video down and paid more attention and found that she does her counting of stitches differently than others. I kept coming up with the wrong stitch count. It turns out she doesn't include the stitches in the corners of the yoke in the stitch count.

Ugh, Ruth, some consistency in counting stitches would surely be nice. I wonder why she counts hers differently. Well, I am glad that you figured out the discrepancy, fo you like the pattern now? Can we swap? You can have the temps in the 80’s and I am already talking forward to cooler weather.
CJ- gee those blocks are cute. I live with a black cat, so I doubt that I would make that block. I do love fall colors and decor. I am looking forward to seeing what the next block is. Will you turn this into a wall hanging? I can see that there are a lot of small pieces- hope they were not too much work to put together.
Got the border on the baby quilt, but I was a bit disrupted to get much further on it. I also cut the binding strips which I hope I can get attached tomorrow night. I am babysitting DGS tomorrow so its doubtful how much quilting I will get done during the day.

Ruth and CJ- hope you both have had a great day and are just busy crocheting or quilting.
DGS#2 was here for most of the day- he has absolutely become 2, complete with a tiny temper and a stubborn nature. But that goes with the territory of being 2. He did take a nice long nap for me, which allowed me to make good progress on the quilt. The borders are attached and the binding is cut, pressed and wonder clipped in place. As soon as I post this reply I will get it sewn into place so that all I need to do is flip it over and finish the edge. The quilt came out pretty well and I am really pleased that it will be done, I hope , in time for the baby shower this weekend. Got a few busy days ahead, so I am unsure if I will be able to work on it much until Friday.
It was warm here today and the humidity is slowly going up. Still not so warm that I had to put on the AC. Of course that does make me happy.

I was just thinking that it was awfully quiet in here then came into the thread and there you are Ginny. Yes at 2 they're trying to gain a little independence and can make it difficult for parents and grandparents. Luckily he took a nice nap. I bet that most of the time he's a very sweet little boy. I'm glad you got all done on the quilt except the binding. It sounds like it will be done just in time.
I hope you're having a good day CJ.
I have the body of the sweater done and the hood and am now working on the ribbing around the bottom. It's the ribbing where you make a chain and keep crocheting up and down the height of the chain. It's a slow method of bordering anything but looks so nice that i'm doing it rather than making ribbing using the front/back post stitches which is faster. Next is the sleeves and the ribbing for them and the edging for the rest of the sweater including the front where I need to make the button edging(which gets buttons sewn on) and the button hole little panel.Oh and ribbing around the hood part too.
Probably going out to do some shopping tomorrow but will decide for sure tomorrow.
Have a good night.

Good morning !! Ruth, great progress on the sweater. Oh my ribbing? Cannot even fathom what that takes to accomplish.
Got the binding attached, now gotta flip it to the other side and get busy finally sewing it on.
CJ- hope you are doing well

Hello Ruth - Hope the sweater is going well and that if you went out today you found everything you needed. Ginny - I'm glad you finished getting your binding attached and hope you can get it sewn down soon. I'm sure the new mother will love it. The weather here has been alright. We are getting rain today, which we really needed. I finished the last block for the Haunted Halloween quilt along, next week the layout is given so it can be put together. The cat block I made is the second picture where the tail has a couple of half square triangles added and they are also added to the bottom of the face. I enjoyed making the haunted house - which looks more like a castle. www.ilovetomakequilts.com/halloween-mystery.htmlToday I made the next two star blocks for Pat Sloan's quilt along, it was quick since it was just two Friendship stars. Take care and have a good day!

I didn't work on the sweater last evening. I did waste time on other non productive things.
Today is very cool and overcast and looks misty. It is a good day for baking so I made dh his favorite walnut bars and made a loaf of whole wheat bread. I have it rising now so we'll see how it comes out. I followed a person on youtube and she had great comments so hopefully mine turns out as good the ones those people made.
I'll probably spend the rest of the day crocheting or do something that is related to crocheting.

CJ, we must have been typing at the same time. Your post wasn't here when I was here earlier. I still need to click that link you shared. It's great that you have it done already. And you already have the block's for the Pat Sloan quilt too! I'm glad you got the rain you needed also. I think that we've been getting the rain that usually falls elsewhere.
My bread turned out wonderful. It's whole wheat bread. It didn't rise as much as the bread in the video but enough for me and the texture is amazing. It also makes fantastic toast and it would hold together to make a sandwich which some homemade breads don't..they fall apart. I'm going to make more tomorrow or whatever day we're home. I made only one loaf today to see if it was going to turn out ok, We didn't shop today after all and will go tomorrow or Friday.

Hello - Hope you are doing well today and having good weather. We've finally had some rain here yesterday and today after a long drought. And the temperatures have been a lot cooler. Ruth - I'm happy to hear your bread came out alright and you are enjoying it. Could you share the YouTube video that you watched for the bread? Ginny - I'm happy you were able to visit a great quilt shop, I bet it was enjoyable. I didn't do any quilting yesterday, since I'm working on more decluttering. I may start a new project soon since I'm caught up with all my monthly quilt along blocks. Hope you get to do some crafting too. Take care

CJ- so glad you are making excellent progress de cluttering!
Be proud of me….. went into another magnificent quilt shop and did not buy a thing! What a beautiful shop- wish that Dd knew exactly what she wanted for her baby quilt. It would have been an excellent shop to purchase fabric from.
Ruth- how was your day?

CJ, here's the link for the whole wheat bread video www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWsY8IaoAV8Personally I would put the yeast in with the warm milk and sugar...I also wouldn't make it that hot. I usually make it around 110, maybe 115 degrees. I would only put in a couple teaspoons of sugar not 2 tablespoons. Then let it sit for about 5 minutes then pour it into the flour and salt. Then after mixing a little I'd put in the egg and the oil. This turns out very oily but when the bread is done it's not oily at all just nice and moist. I also knead it longer and let it rise longer too not just "let it rest" for 10 minutes.Than I follow what she says but I think it takes longer to rise to 1 inch above the pan than what she says.My dh ate some plain, not toasted and with nothing on it, and he loved the flavor and so did I.I think 2 tablespoons of sugar would make it too sweet and you sure don't need THAT much to feed the yeast. It was quite cool again today and did rain again during the night or early morning. I haven't done any crafting yet today except for checking crochet groups on FB and Youtube.

Hello Ruth - Thanks for the video link. I've watched a few other videos by her on breadmaking. Thanks also for all your tips/suggestions. I'm glad you and your DH enjoyed the bread. Ginny - Hope you are enjoying your Friday. We've had rain again here today, I know we needed it but after several days of it I'm ready for a break. I picked out fabrics today for the rest of my Rainbow Scrap Challenge blocks instead of waiting for the next for months. The last colors were Aqua, Yellow and Red and I was able to find enough fat quarters to make all my blocks but it was difficult. I had very little yellow and aqua fat quarters. Hopefully I can make these blocks over the next few weeks and then decide on a layout for these two quilts. Hope you both get to do some quilting and your weather is nice. Have a great weekend!
