Good morning!!
CJ- how long do you keep your business papers? Just curiousâŠ.I usually do a purge once a year. (Gosh you are much better organized than I am). And yes it sure makes for a large pile of paperwork to destroy. I do wish that personal shredders were not so prone to jamming, overheating and failing. Itâs a frustrating process to shred a large Amount of paperwork. Congrats on getting those 2 projects machine quilted! The bindings should go quickly because you are doing them by machine. Are you then trying to go somewhat random with the color scheme of the shoo fly blocks? Sounds like a cute quilt in the making.
Ruth, hope that whatever is irritating your eye is gone. Sometimes it takes awhile for the feeling of something being there to go awayâŠsounds like you are still crocheting with it. What are you working on- hats or the car afghan?
AnniesâŠâŠwell I will never attempt to use them again. The quilt pattern was adorable but you would think that in the description they would provide some basic information. All I was looking for was a statement like âhearts are appliquĂ©dâ. Nope, I had to take out a free trial, which would convert to a paid subscription after 2 weeks.I cancelled before any charges were incurred. During covid, I had a conversation with customer service at Mary Maxim. I highly recommend them for their customer service, who was able to respond to a bunch of questions and the agent actually commented on how well the colors I was selecting would look together (she knew the yarn colors very well). A stark contrast from Annies.
Last nite I did get 2 of 4 sides permanently sewn on the quilt. It was a bit late, so I figured that keeping the last 2 sides for today was a good idea. I like to sit outside at the end of the day and listen to the birdsâŠ.sometimes read. Kind of hard to sew on a machine when sitting outside. Speaking of that, think both Jane and I were inspired by the Amish quilts we saw (all hand quilted)âŠguess I have to see what my future projects are and see if one is a good project to hand quilt.

Did either of you get an email that said it was from IRS dot gov and opened it to find a message that said something about tax revenue at Don's appliances dot gov. I'd bet if I had clicked that address it would have turned out to be some kind of scam or attempt to get access to my ino and it looked weird.

No I did not get an email like that. The IRS will never contact you via email.

I feel as though I ought to send both of you flowers and candy for putting up with all my bellyaching about the tshirt quilt which is DONE.đđ„łđ Just have to trim the threads and run it through the dryer quickly to get the lint off of it.
Now trying to come up with a strategy to repair the hammock for DGS. It might or might not work. The concern is the quality of the canvas DD selected, but I will do the best I can. Think I have a game plan that might work.

Hello Ruth - I hope your eye is better today. I didn't get any email like you mentioned. The IRS will never email or call you, they only communicate by letter sent through the mail. I'm glad you figured out it was a scam. Ginny - I'm glad you finished your TShirt quilt. Hope you can figure out how to repair the hammock. It's hot here again and being sunny make it hotter Hope your weather is alright. I finished getting the bindings on the two quilts this morning and also made two shoofly blocks (since I didn't make one yesterday). I'm just using random colors based on which fabrics I had enough 2.5 squares of to make a block. I also pulled out the fabrics to make the next blocks for Pat Sloan's quilt along and hope to get them done tomorrrow. I finished going through the papers yesterday and have all the folders organized. I usually go through my old utility bills and credit card bills every year, but I guess Covid must have thrown me off since I hadn't been through them since 2020. I'll keep them up to date now. I just keep the previous year. Some of them I don't even print out anymore since I download them to pay online. Today I pulled out 3 external hard drives I have and cleared everything off of them. I have a much smaller external hard drive that I use now to back up my computer files. Take care

Congratulations Ginny on getting the t shirt quilt done. You were very smart to stop working on it when you realized you were tired. I did just the oposite last night and kept working on my car seat blanket. Did the one row over at least four times probably more like 6 or 7, U tgiyght I had it right then when I finally got to work on it today I found that it still wasn't right. It's good now. I hope the hammock repair goes well. I'd offer you ours but it probably is no good now. We've never used it and it's been in the garage for several years to the canvas is probably deteriorated. I did know that the IRS doesn't send emails. I just wondered if this thing was sent to a lot of people. I don't really trust any emails anymore because I get so many that I know are scams. For instance, everyday I "win" about 6 or 7 things. I can see where some people would lose lots of money replying to these and sometimes even opening them. I've received emails from Netflix with them thretening to cancel my service If I don't pay my "past due" bill.Several other companies, same thing. I don't have netflix...Don't want to support them because of someof their beliefs that I don't agree with so I knew I didn't owe anything. And anything I do get something like that supposedly from a company I do deal with I contact them in a different way to make sure and let them koow someone is using them to scam. CJ, I have a whole hanging folder system too that I set up years ago and unfortunatley I haven't kept it up. I also have all online statements but I do heep record in writing about my account numbers, etc because sometimes just to get the info only you have to have an account number to get into your account. or, for instance, to get a card replaced by phone. I hate keeping my account numbers and passwords, etc in writing in my hone especially when I'm away like I was earlier this year..I need to go thru my files and get them back in order.. Thank you for mentioning all this. Ok my laptop is doing weird things and my vision is still blurry so I'll see you all tomorrow probably after I see my eye doctor if my vison is still like this...which I know my dear friend was going to suggestb

Good morning, Well Ruth, you threw down the gauntlet đ and I am not sure if I qualify as your dear friend, BUT- you need to get to an eye doctor. Too many things that are treatable that can happen to mature eyes. Thanks for the offer of the hammock. Think I figured out a way to repair this one which I hope works.
CJ-the shoofly blocks are using up a lot of odd fabric pieces, glad that you are making them! You always have been so organized with your fabric scraps, and this is a great way to creatively use them. Wish I had your organization skills.
I considered going to a ladies fellowship meeting last night, decided to stay home because of the heat and some issues at home.

Ginny, yes it was you I was referring to. You always urge me to get medical attention for my problems. I did wake up this morning to find that my eye is almost back to normal.I do consider you a dear friend even though we've never met in person.
I've stopped and prayed about tye issues you mentioned which I know nothing about but God does. I hope and pray the issues are resolved now.

Hello Everyone - Hope you are having nice weather today. We had a storm come through earlier and maybe another one later. Ruth - I'm glad to hear your eye is doing better today Hope you can go through your hanging files when you have time. Ginny - I'm glad you've figured out a way to repair the hammock. For those fabric scraps, it took me several years to get them organized and cut into specific sizes. I try to keep on top of that now so I don't have a bag of them again. It helps that I participate in the Rainbow Scrap Challenge each year, it's a great way to use them. I made 4 quilt blocks this morning for Pat Sloan's weekly quilt along. We were only supposed to make two but I wanted to get ahead. I'll probably finish up this one before it ends. I'm kind of concerned I'm going to run out of my white background fabric, so I need to figure out how much more I have to cut. There are a few new mystery quilt alongs starting. This one just started, the first month is just fabric selection. I did her mystery last year and liked it so if I can find the right fabrics I'll participate again. She gives you a sneak peek at the final layout for those who don't like not knowing, she just asks that no one shares it: meadowmistdesigns.blogspot.com/I like the way she gives several color options to help you pick your fabrics. The next one is a Christmas quilt along from the Fat Quarter Shop. It looks like it might be a large green tree, with presents underneath. I'll see how the patterns go for this one. Sometimes I really like their patterns and sometimes I don't The Haunted Halloween mystery was great this year. blog.fatquartershop.com/christmas-mystery-quilt-and-stitch-along-is-coming-soon/I don't think I'm going to do any decluttering today, I'm not feeling motivated Take care and have a great weekend!

I did dig out and go through my knitting supplies today. I kept one set in case I have an overwhelming urge to knit, kept my circulars and some wooden knitting needles. I like the wooden ones and I did keep the one set of sizes 2-13 because a couple of my grandchildren do knit. I also bagged up some yarn I know I'll never use so that I can take it to donate.I'll get to the hanging files sometime and all the papers that are on my desk.
Now I need to get back to crocheting because it's taken me way too long to get this middle part of the current blanket done...it's the car seat blanket that I want to add to to make it a larger blanket.
I also want to make some homemade butterscotch pie filling and a graham crocher crust but I'm not sure if I'll make it today or not.
See you all later

Ruth, I have never made homemade butterscotch pie filling- is it easy to make? Sounds yummy for sure!! How large do you want to make the car seat afghan? Were you able to get back to working on it? And congrats on getting through the yarn that you are doubtful you will use, along with some knitting needles. In that process you also see what you do have and that does make it easier. Think you will pack those knitting needles ready for use by your grandchildren who do knit? Good news that your eye is back to normal- an answer to prayer.
CJ- glad you took a day off from decluttering- its impressive that you have been âin modeâ to accomplish so much. The Christmas wall hanging from the fat quarter shop looks like a really nice project. If I was tempted to do that I would probably purchase the kit from them, their prices are good and I am not sure if I have enough Christmas fabric to complete the wall hanging. What do you think of the meadow mist âmysteryâ quilt along? Did you take a sneak peak look at the final quilt? (Yes, I did). Looks like another pretty project. And yes, I agree, itâs great that several different color options if someone were to buy the kit. Hope you have enough of your white background fabric! When watching a ton of videos for the quilt I just finished one person advised not to add more white to a tshirt quilt because there are so many different whites and so tough to match. If you bought that fabric at Joanns there is a decent chance that they still have that fabric. Sometimes Etsy has fabrics, ebay or fabshophop.com (have a friend who frequently finds hard to locate fabric there)
Clipped a few more stray threads last night and stared, again , at the hammock repair. Think I will put on my big girl pants and start working on that today. Not looking forward to that projectâŠand I hope I can successfully make the repair.
Warm and muggy here today. Might attend a softball game that DGD is in- might as well take advantage of something that is close to me and I will not have to drive halfway across the county to attend.

Good afternoon.
Ginny, I did finish the car seat blanket but didn't make it a lot larger as I thought about doing. I got tired of working on it so made about a 3 inch border which brought it up to only 20 inches square. My ddil did say one time that she mostly used the baby blankets for in the car so this one will be perfect for that and I do have other blankets I made for the new little one. No I've never made butterscotch pie filling from scratch either and didn't last evening or today so it's something for another time. Dh got a quilte large jar of applesauce out of the cupboard and said we need to use it so I'll make something with it instead. I don't even know why we bought it because we never eat applesauce. Dh's stepmother used to say that you had to eat applesauce with any pork you ate or you would get sick. I don't think she really believed that but she did always serve applesauce with pork. She was a really nice person and used to make dinner for us every Saturday then if I was working she would give me the liftovers to take to work and share with the person working with me that night.
It does sound like a good idea not to use white with a t shirt quilt. As you said, many of them are white or have white on them and the whites never match. And have fun at your dgd's game. Yes it's great when you don't have to drive a long time to get to activities.
CJ, what are you up to today. I did go to that site and saw the color choice kits and thought that it's a fantastic idea for her to do that. A lot of people (me) don't have a knack for choosing colors. I didn't see the sneak peek of the final layout. I looked by didn't see where you find that. I'll have to go back and check again.
see you later, I'm going to go look for a recipe using applesauce

Ruth, have you ever made applesauce cake?its very moist - got some spices in it like cloves, nutmeg and cinnamon. But itâs very good- my mom made It a fair amount when I was a kid. Applesauce freezes well also should you want to put away smaller portions of it for another day. I like to use applesauce in cake mixes (which I do not use all that much any more as I do not bake much) instead of oil. Itâs much healthier as you can imagine. Yay! You finished the car afghan. 20 inches square sounds like a good size to lay across a little one. And itâs nice to have an extra afghan like that to leave in the car. An extra one or two would sure come in handy. Back to applesauce, funny you mention that. I just opened a jar of the applesauce I canned last fall- figure I better start using it up. There is one serving left in the fridge, which i will have tomorrow. For the mystery quilt, the link to reveal the layout is about a third of the way down the page, and is the only link I saw in red/pink. Its just above the fabric requirements chart.
The softball game was ok, a bit warm but DGDâs team played well and won. Ends up they have another game at the same field tomorrow so I will be bringing the two youngest grandkids to church with me tomorrow so their mother can assist with the softball game. Oh this should be interesting, I am greeter at church tomorrow and will have a 3 year old and a 5 year old assisting me. I figure the 3 year old can help open the doors (with me) for each person visiting, and the 5 year old can hand out bulletins. Or something like that. I hope. Ha ha ha
Think I actually have a strategy for the hammock repair. my area is in for a lot of rain tomorrow afternoon so I will work on it then.
CJ - did you decide to declutter today or quilt? Are you supposed to get a lot of rain tomorrow also?

I just wrote out a long message and I thought it was sent but it's not here. Well. guess it is just gone. That was about 5 mun s ago and I just came back to say....oops, I just found more knitting needles. In c also have a hairpin lace thingy and I've never done hairpin lace. Guess I'll keep that too i case one of the grands want it.The rest that I just found will join the others in the donate bag. Someone will be happy.Found a pack on never opened stitch markers which are only used for knitting and also some of these newly found knitting needles are still in original packs, What was I thinking?
