Does anyone even pay attention to Tucker Carlson anymore? I thought he crawled back under his gold plated rock. I suppose many will if he interviews Trump. I agree with the assessment of Trump's traits. The scary part is how so many people identify with him. Are they like him? Do they wish they could be him? I don't understand.

I think they are exactly like him. Rude, crude, and infifferent. Perhaps a bit immature believing the tougher you behave the stronger you appear to be.
They remind me of old movies about street thugs and gangs. Youngsters who need to be part of a tough looking gang of thugs to be noticed. Pathetic.
Decent people are mocked as weaklings. Will this mindset ever change or go away? I don't think so. When a guy like trump is praised and adored we, the USA, looks like an angry gang of thugs.
Is that what makes us proud to be an American these days? Just wondering. What do you think?

I saw where some pastors preach about the Sermon on the Mount, specifically the part about turning the other cheek, and at least one person will come up after and say "Where did you get those liberal talking points?" This is from an article by the Editor in Chief of Christianity Today, saying evangelicals have moved so far to the right that they consider Jesus' teachings "weak".

There's nothing evangelical about them. Not one thing. Religion can be hijacked and taken over by anyone. Our Founding Fathers knew this and encouraged us to keep religious beliefs and teachings out of our politics. How's that working out? I was brought up Catholic. I joined a Protestant church in my 40's. I'm pleased to say I am now an Atheist and believe every religion believes theirs is the one and only true belief system. Imagine no religion? It's easy if you try. You are missed, John. Very much.

The things that Jesus taught are weak and they still call themselves Evangical? I'm sure they are all wiser and more spiritual than Jesus. What did He know anyway?
Can they possibly be more puffed up or more full of themselves? They are a creepy bunch, imho.

So now these so called Christians are shitting on Jesus? The very namesake of their faith? They should just leave the church and go pray at the feet of their puffy leader with the bad combover and ill fitting suits. That’s who they really revere. It just sickens me and anyone who supports him likewise. My BIL (the one who he and his wife won’t talk to me or his own brother, my ex) is squarely in the cult and back when he was still on speaking terms with my ex, told him that he no longer believes in apologizing for any of his wrongdoings, that it’s seen as weak and pathetic. My BIL was not like that before. A very kind man willing to take a bullet for any one of us and protect us at his own peril. Once his wife was in the cult he got sucked in as well. His own 6 year old son is now an extreme bully and when no one was looking was sucker punching my son (even split his lip) and when their grandma asked what happened he immediately had some story about how my son got hurt on his own. Domestic abuser in the making I guess.

I used to say Republicans wanted to go back to the 50s, then I revised it to the 1850s, but lately it seems like the Trumpers want to go back to the days when we dwelled in caves.

They want us to go back to the days of the American slavery atrocities. That way the mediocre can feel superior over literally anyone.

The trump being is one of the most dangerous beings on the planet. He encourages division, cruelty, and hate. That's all he and his followers have.
The part I don't understand is how can so many of his supporters call themselves Christians? Jesus would be one of the first people they would go after because of his beliefs, actions and life style.
This isn't the same Christianity your parents or grandparents believed. This is the new version where hate and violence replaces peace and love.
And yet a lying sexual predator is fine and dandy with this brand of Christianity. I don't get it. Do you?

Birdgal there is apparently a new breed of “Christians” who think Jesus was too liberal. Not sure why they still call themselves Christians but of course the Christ part of that name does not pose any irony to them whatsoever.
I was watching a Brian Tyler Cohen video yesterday and he was commenting on how Trump’s social media callouts on witnesses in his court cases literally is witness intimidation because he knows his goons will stalk and harass (and worse) these witnesses.
