Welcome to our 2016 Alcohol Free All The Way Board!
If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you? Or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? Did you finish the bag of chips? cookies? or just spend the evening grazing? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgment that we have been there, done that and know we need and get the support from this great group of women and men.
Whether you are choosing to be AF or find you can achieve AIM (maximum of one drink per day for women and maximum of two drinks per day for men), please join us if you feel this challenge meets your needs.

NEW CHALLENGE! November 1 - December 31
CHRISTMAS DREAMS CAN COME TRUE!
Did you know? 24 days until Thanksgiving, 25 days until Black Friday, 28 days until Cyber Monday, 54 days until Christmas Eve AND 55 days until Christmas Day! HO HO HO!! So make your Christmas dreams come true and get on the AF wagon! You have over 8 weeks to make changes in your life that will bring you into 2017 feeling great!
Ever drink, and still feel lousy? Ever drink, and say, not enough buzz? Ever drink and say one more has got to make it better or at least make me not care? Ever drink and ask yourself, what am I doing? Why do I want to poison myself? How does this possibly help me? The problems will still be there the next day. Then do you find yourself repeating the pattern knowing the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and yet expecting a different result. Ah, but you know better….HAH!
Being AF isn't easy, no one said it would be and if it was easy, there would be no need for this board and this wonderfully supportive group. Are you in an emotional war when it comes to alcohol? Declare a truce and determine that it isn't helping you, in fact it may be causing you problems. Can you decide to be alcohol free for the challenge? Can you determine if you need a plan for a detour, not necessarily to take it but to plan so it isn't a free fall into AIE? Have the holidays always been a reason to drink? Do you think you can enjoy the holidays without alcohol? Or do you get through the holidays by drinking? During the challenge the primary goal is to abstain from alcohol. There may be holiday dinner you wish to plan an AIM, repeat AIM, detour. However please remember if AIM becomes a relapse....we still want you back! Don't berate yourself. Come back to the board, 'fess up and get back on track. We are here to be supportive of each other in reaching our goals.
So if your Christmas Dreams are to be AF and feel physically, mentally and spiritually healthier, please join us for the challenge and make your dreams come true. New friends are welcome to join at any stage of the challenge.

Good morning all! Amy - I almost laughed when the doctor said that about alcohol helping with the tremors! He said he father has the same thing and that when he has one drink, within 15 minutes, the tremors stop! I just kept my mouth closed but I kind of wanted to tell him that the first drink might help but the 10th drink just brings the tremors back! LOL
Jan - Off again today right?
Cindy - we are definitely a family here!
Carole - hope DS's toe isn't hurting too bad.
No big plans for today. I'm meeting the family for supper on Friday to celebrate my brother's 70th birthday. I plan to get the rest of the Christmas decorations packed up this weekend. Hope everyone has a good day! Murphy

Good morning!
Amy: I didn't track either. I was OP but didn't track. I'm with you today! I also didn't get my steps in nor did I do the dance DVD, or the strength training. I need to make activity a priority. Babysteps.
Murphy: So glad it's not Parkinson's! Aren't you glad you went to the dr? Sorry for the lack of response from the family. I think we all have those feelings of loneliness, even when we have people close by. Glad you did not get the A!!!!
Jan: I need to pay more attention to my Fitbit! You helped spur me on! Congrats on your success!
Carole: How is Tyler's toe? How are you feeling?
Cindy: I don't think anyone can understand losing a husband until they go through it. Gentle hugs to you!
I need to get ready. 3 meetings today.
I am contemplating making a word poster. Words to help me when things get tough next year. Believe, Hope, Persistence, Human, Grace, Forgiveness. What are some words you would use?

Good morning, Just organized and put away all the wrapping, bags etc. I tend to keep them to use again next year, but some were so far gone and it just felt good to get rid of a whole lot!! Now to do the same with my closets and craft stuff Ha ha. Will start taking ornaments off later today. I want to get up to the high school while it's nice out to get in some steps. If I can get @6000 there I can usually get the rest in just my "normal" day. Need all those AP to make up for having no more weeklies but I've tracked it all!! Bought a puzzle I'm working on, I like working on it, but find I then sit too long! Not much other news, hope you all hare having a good day!
GG A word poster sounds good, my sister and I cut out all the words and quotes this summer at the cabin, but I haven't ever glued mine together to make my vision board. Maybe a good New Year's Eve project! Get out there and get those steps!!
Barb Have fun at the birthday party, yes, you can always come to this family!! Take care of yourself.
Cindy Are you sleeping any better? I hope 2017 is kind to you.
Amy Are you tracking??? Will you get to work from home more next year? How is your mom doing?
Hi to all, check in when you can......

Hello friends! I got up early to go swimming, took ty to foot dr. He has to wear his shoe/boot for 2 weeks and we go back Jan 11. Can't believe 2017 is almost here!
Amy, did the boys get off ok?
Barb, I'm so happy for you and so relieved! Sorry about your family, I thinK we are so wrapped up in our own lives, I'm sure they didn't mean it.
Jan, do you work tomorrow? I'm going to talk to my fitness center boss tomorrow to get more hours. My pool boss is an a$$!
Cindy, like Jan said I pray 2017 is kind to you. I think I broke 2 toes a long while ago, I didnt think they did anything with toes so I didn't see a dr, now I wish I did!

Hi Everyone!
We are having a windy evening, branches hitting the window repeatedly so I went out and cut off some branches....aah, quiet. But I noticed that another tree has almost been uprooted along with the gutter being "thrown out" into the yard from the torrential rain. I know I will complain once it is warm again but I seriously need to do some work outside!
Amy, it is very sad about Debbie Reynolds just after her daughter. Very very sad. I am sure the boys are home safe and sound and the house feels quiet. I think I would pick Florida over Texas. BOTFR?
Murphy, Maybe the suggestion of one drink was a holistic approach to tremors??? Never been told to drink to help. Enjoy the birthday dinner for your brother. Going to start putting the Christmas stuff away on the 2nd.
GG, like the word poster. Words that popped in my head are perseverance, kindness, strength, and for me, LISTS! Okay, adding sleep! Maybe we could put up a word per challenge and see how it applies during the challenge??
Jan, what Organized?? There is another word for GG's board. Hope you got your steps in!
Carole, I wish I had seen a doctor about broken toes too starting in 1975. I just did buddy wraps. I hope Ty is feeling better. How is DD doing? How are you doing?
My new friend told me that her family decided to do the "ancestry DNA" thing that is advertised on TV as a Christmas present to all. Her family was brought up believing that Grandmother was American Indian....turns out not. In all honesty if my friend had said she had Indian heritage, I would believe her based on her looks. So is the test accurate or do you believe Grandma?
Feeling chilled so thinking I will go huddled under blankets since the Celtics are losing. Need to find another book to read. Hugs to all, Cindy
