I went over and looked on a thread where a very good friend of Phyl's posts. This is what she That Don called her and told her
Bilateral Adrenal Infraction. He said "in other words a blood clot in the adrenal" - glands? I'm guessing they must have done an autopsy but not sure. I looked it up & it sounds more to me like someone missed something. I wonder if her bloating had anything to do with it. It did say weight gain was a symptom & she frequently mentioned gaining weight. I hate to think it was a death that could have been prevented, better to think God said it was time.
Yes it sure sounds like the bloating had to do with the adrenal glands now but it's got to be a hard thing to diagnose. And if it was truly an infarction you would think that she would have died from it sooner. It's been a long time..And I found that another woman I was on a thread with has pancreatic cancer so not much hope for her and she did decline chemo. She is such a very nice woman and had recently lost a son to lung cancer. All of this is just so depressing. Another woman on that same thread also has a sil that just found he has cancer. The daughter has already lost one husband not long ago. Maybe about 5 years now
I'm going to go look up adrenal infarction. I know nothing about it at all It's gotta be a pretty uncommon thing but with her Jax3 gene disorder anything like that can happen

OK it was undoubtedly her thrombocytosis that caused this. She never seemed to realize how serious that was

Hello Hope you are both feeling better today and the weather is nice. It's supposed to get up in the 90s here today. Ruth - It is so sad to hear about Phyl. She had dealt with all those health issues for so many years, but her passing was very sudden. I feel for her family losing her quickly like that. I hope your mouth is doing alright too. Ginny - I hope you've been able to get some rest and the medication is helping you. This morning I cut up all the background pieces for 10 blocks from the Farm Girl Vintage books. That is going to save me a lot of time making them each week. Most of the blocks have lots of little pieces that 2.5, 2.0, 1.5, and 1.0 sizes. Almost all the blocks have snowballing in them. I also pulled some fabrics to see if I could match them up with the fabric I'm going to use for Pat Sloan's block Wednesday that runs from September to November. My focus fabric is a fun fall fabric with gnomes on it. I never made any of the gnome quilts when they were so popular last year, so I thought this would be a good time to use some. Here is the main fabric: www.ttfabrics.com/item/2-223348/223339/gail-cd2127-gnomes-pumpkin-patch-apple-picking/?frpage=0And of course the only fabric I couldn't find was the off white to match the background in this fabric. I guess I'm going to have to take a piece of it to JoAnns or a quilt shop and try to find something that will work. It's amazing how many white shades there are. Take care and have a good weekend

Wow- first of all, I feel completely awful that I did not pick up Phyl’s passing until now- looks like CJ and I were posting at the same time. How very sad, but she did seem to be in decline in recent months . I know she understood some of her diagnosis, but perhaps not all of it. She will surely be missed here and on other boards. I remember for loving her family deeply and Don also. It’s very sad that Don had to perform CPR on her….that is an emotional struggle when y9ou know that the person is gone and most likely cannot be saved. Think I will send him a card- should either of you want their home address I would be happy to provide it to you privately. Its always nice to hear how others were fond of your loved one
CJ- had trouble downloading the fabric line, but it sure does sound adorable, especially if you like gnomes. Good luck finding an off white fabric, I am sure you will be able to find something close enough that works.
Ruth, please take care of that tooth…so sorry I am such a nag. And I think Phyl did like you, Ruth, but I also feel she might have had a volatile personality and that could account for her reactions at times. Sometimes when a person is not a strong communicator it’s easy to misunderstand too- Phyl was such a sweetie, I struggled understanding some of her communications.
Ok We were in NC all week- same house as last year with the whole family. Yes I did get sick and am still a bit under the weather. It’s probably going to take a few more days to get over this upper respiratory infection. And sad taht really all week I was sick until I went to the doctor on Thursday. We left at 3 am, and I have been up since 2, so I am tired.

CJ, I'm sorry to hear that it's so hot there. Good thing you have a/c. Yes whites are very hard to match. People think that white is white but no it's not. That fall quilt you're planning sounds so nice.Last year was a year of gnomes in crocheting too. People are still making them but not as much.I've never made one myself.Yes I'm sure it's sad for Phyl's family esp her husband. They did everything together.
My teeth still ache but my general overall symptoms from the infection are improving. I hope Ginny also is feeling better,

Well, took a nap, which still has me with a lack of sleep from last night but it’s better than before.
Ruth, glad to hear that your other symptoms are improving- and hope that you can back into see your dentist quickly. Forgive me for having my head in the sand (Oh I did feel quite awful for a few days there) but did you ever get the package mailed?
CJ- did you venture out today to pick up an off white fabric? If it was bought at Joanns, it’s always been my experience that you can find something similar that works. I hope that is the case and you did not have to venture out for too far or too long to get the perfect off white fabric. Think overall cooler temps are headed sort of our way. They are even indicating a tropical system, but I do not think at the moment that it is s problem for either of us. Knowing you, you are well stocked up with supplies should it be necessary stay home because of inclement weather.

I can identify with awful. For those few days I couldn't even stand up for more than about 30 seconds. Definitely couldn't cook or stand at the sink to wash dishes or anything else like that. I can't believe how weak I was. the infection in those teeth obviously had systemic effects. I probably should have gone to the ER but didn't have the strength really to drive that far.. Now I'll quit whining about myself and just say that I hope, Ginny, that you will continue to get to feel better and better.
No, didn't get the package mailed because it was a real struggle for me when we had to stop to pickup my prescription. Now on Wed I can get rid of these two teeth..
I have crocheted very, very little since Tues so need to get back to it.

Ginny - I'm sorry to hear your were sick during the family vacation. I hope you'll be able to get some rest at home and be feeling better soon.
The quilt along that I'm using the gnome fabric for doesn't start until mid-September, so I have time to find a background fabric. This fabric isn't from JoAnns, it's a Timeless Treasure fabric line.
I never go out on the weekend unless it's an emergency. The traffic and people around here are bad enough during the week, I know the weekend is much worse!
Ruth - I'm sorry to hear how bad you felt for several days, I'm glad you are doing better and that you have an appointment this coming week to get your teeth taken care of.

Ginny, I would love if you would send me Don's address. I'm sure that it helps some to know that a loved one had so many people that thought so well about her. I can't even remember how long I knew Phyl on the boards but it was a long time...very long.I know I was still working when on the old WW board and I've been retired 20 years.
Ginny I should have guessed that you were away. I'm sorry your vacation was messed up by being sick. It's bad enough to be sick at home with all it's comforts so really bad when you're away and don't have your own bed, pillow, comforter, etc. And your own teapot.
CJ, I hope you can either find fabric that will work with that which you have or that you can buy to replace that one. I liked the fabric on that page where the gnome fabric was although working with black yarn is hard for me so I don't know how black fabric would be...not that I'd be quilting anyway I'm sure.

Aw Ruth, I know you were feeling awful…and it is bad when getting to the medical help you need is a challenge because you did not feel well. I wish you had taken yourself to the ER- a course of antibiotics might have helped with your dental infection too.(I know antibiotics are useless for viral infections). Glad to hear that you are improving and it does sound like you have another appointment with the dentist. Dental issues are nothing to take lightly. How is DD feeing? I hope she is home by now and recovering well from her procedure.
CJ- well knowing the manufacturer of the fabric should help- and I do hope hope you can find a suitable fabric that matches well. A friend of mine uses a web site fabric shop hop.com from time to time. I admit to finding the site confusing and have never had any luck getting fabric through it. Perhaps you will have luck there. Time is on your side…so you can perhaps find the actual fabric. Do you remember where it was purchased? Perhaps contacting the shop owner or catalog company could help. Best of luck with that, I am sure you will find something that works well!!
Oddly enough….Ds and I pack pretty lightly when traveling. It was a last minute decision on my part to grab a favorite pillow and spare blanket from home, which was nice to have in the car on a long drive and even better when I was not feeling well. For a few days while away I was wearing a sweatshirt and long pants…and then wrapped in my blanket. Yes I felt that crummy. My DD went out and picked up a set of long pajamas, slippers and a robe to help me stay warm.
Phyl once unexpectedly sent a template to me (Don had copied a template onto wood) think it was a Dresden plate and sent it to me. They were blessed with many years of what seemed to be a good marriage. Heck any man who would accompany her to an Eu Claire quilt shop (driving her several hours to get there)is a keeper! She was a sweet kind woman….or at least appeared to be.

Ruth, it’s going to take me awhile (not terribly long) to locate Phyl and Don’s street address. I never put her in my address book, and am pretty sure its with my Christmas cards.

Ginny, don't worry about finding the address then. I'm sure I can get it from her friend on the other board.Yes Phyl was a kind and caring person. She also was very outspoken and sometimes didn't think things our before she spoke but we all knew that was "just Phyl" and cared about her despite that.
I was, and still am, on antibiotics so that's why I wasn't concerned about not getting to the ER even though the dentist said that I might need IV antibiotics if it got worse.
Sounds like you were all set for comfort items. And you had your dds there to help you.

Ruth, I am looking for Phyl’s address- if for some reason I cannot locate it, and you are able to I would love to send a card of sympathy and encouragement to her husband. Thanks
Glad you are on an antibiotic and will pray that an IV antibiotic is not needed.
Still kind of drained here. I am trying to rest up and hope that I improve. The cough is slowly getting better

Hello - Hope you both start feeling better soon The weather here has still been warm. I'm ready for some cooler temperatures. I can tell I didn't explain myself very well when I said I was looking for fabric. I'm not looking for a specific fabric, just a nice off white to use as the background for the quilt along using the gnome fabric (that I already have). None of the white fabric I have matched the color in the gnome fabric well. I'll just take a swatch of the gnome fabric with me to JoAnn's or a quilt shop and I'm sure I can find something to use as a background. i was thinking I might even use a light green fabric for the background. This morning I finished quilting and binding the Fall table topper I made recently. I already went ahead and put it out, because I'm tired of Summer Take care and enjoy your evening
