Hello Ginny - I hope you feel better soon Ruth - Hope you are working on your projects today. It's warm and humid here today. I think it gets cooler the rest of the week. This morning I did a bit of organizing in my sewing room. I'd bought two storage containers to put my 2.5 inch scrappy fabric strips in, so I filled those up. Now I have them and one container with the 2.5 inch squares. This will be so much easier to look through when I need squares or strips. I also moved a few things out of the tote where I had the 2.5 inch strips and just organized it better. Then I did make one quilt block. I'd been thinking for a while that I wanted to use my floral fat quarters for something. Last month I made a flying dutchman block using the fat quarter and a background fabric. So today I pulled out 8 more floral fat quarters and backgrounds. I plan to make 9 blocks in total and just make a small table topper or wall hanging. I'll just work on these as I have time. It's kind of nice not to have a big project I'm working on right now, but I felt kind of lost this morning not working on something Take care.

tGinny, I hope you're well soon. Maybe you should see your doctor. Have you done a covid test. "They" claim that cases are rising. I guess the news hates to give up on all the sensationalism related to covid.
CJ, yes it had to feel strange to not have something that needed done for a large project. It did give you time to do some organizing which lead you to remember that you wanted to use the floral fat quarters and to you making a plan.
I'm starting my large projects now..the Christmas blankets.Yes I did start some before I started working on the baby things but now I have a new plan for everyone's blanket except two. The one is a restart because I didn't have enough of the needed yarn and I was unable to order what I was using so ordered enough yarn in the colors I wanted and I've started over. It's the one on youtube in a channel called Bag O Day and she calls it a mosaic which it really is not. It's a blanket pattern that uses drop stitches. And the one I started with the open oyster stitch I'm going to change to a different stitch because the stitch doesn't really work for the yarn I'm using and today I found a pattern that will be perfect for not only the brand of yarn but the exact 4 colors I have

Ruth- so very glad that you found a pattern that works for what you want to make and for the yarn you have. Is this afghan a Christmas gift and did you get your package mailed?
CJ- really I should hire you to organize my sewing room and fabric. It’s not a disaster but I would never consider it well organized. Glad you got that done. Sorry about the heat and humidity - hope it passes quickly. Fall is coming soon - and so are lovely fall days
For a few hours I considered a Covid test- pretty sure I got this from a grandchild who is not being treated for Covid. I am still not 100% but am doing better. It’s following the normal progression for me with a cold. I am getting some embroidery time in, which is so peaceful.

Hello - The weather here is nice today, sunny and low humidity. Ruth - Hope your Christmas blankets are coming along. Ginny - I hope you start feeling better soon. Glad you are enjoying some embroidery. I like to organize things, it feels so good when everything is in the right place It's taken me several years to get my scraps under control, so I work hard to keep them that way. The only thing I'm doing that makes me a bit nervous is that I've started putting larger pieces of fabric, that are less than a fat quarter, into a ziplock bag. I just don't want to cut them into strips or squares. I just need to not let them get out of control. I went out this morning for shopping and errands, so I probably won't do any crafting today. Hopefully I can get back to something tomorrow. Take care

Ginny, I'm glad you're feeling some better.I'd guess, too, that since your grandchild had a cold that that's what you have now. Plus you know your body better than anyone else and would know if it felt like something other than a cold. But all in all, summer and spring colds both can really be really hard to deal with so I turely hope yours is gone soon. I know you also have the additional problem of allergies which much compound the proble
Not so in my case I guess. I had a toothache about 3 weeks ago but decided it was the sensitivity problem because I had stopped using my sensodyne toothpaste. I started using it and had no problem. Well a few days ago it started hurting again so I used even more sensodyne. Well starting yesterday it starting aching non stop..heat and cold didn't affect it so when my face started swelling too and the ache was a throbbing continual pain I knew it had to be an abcessed tooth so calle my dentist's office right awaythis morning and was told to come i at 3 which I did and found that I actually have two teeth that are the problem, so they gave me a prescription for the infamous clindamycin and I'm to go back Friday to have both pulled. In the meantime, even though the aspirin and tylenol I was taking didn't help, there was no pain med offered and the dentist told me that the antibiotic would take the pain away.Well yes, sometime and in the meantimes no sleep again tonight
I haven't even felt like crocheting
CJ, after shopping and errands you probably are too exhausted to do quilting. I hope you can do it tomorrow. I'm glad your weather is nice

Hello Ruth - I'm sorry to hear about your tooth pain and needing them to be pulled. I hope you can tolerate it until Friday and that everything will go O.K. with your procedure. Ginny - I hope you are starting to feel better. The weather here is nice, just a bit humid but low 80s. I spent some time this morning cutting all the fabrics for the flying geese blocks, so they are all ready to piece. I also cut some fabric to try out a block from a quilt that I thought I might like to make. But now that I see the block I don't want to make this quilt, but I think I'd like to use parts of it for another quilt. So it all worked out. Take care

CJ, glad you were able to figure out that you really did not want to make that quilt, better now than after you started working on it.
Ruth, a shame about your teeth! Hope the antibiotic works quickly and the extractions go well and heal well.
Ended up in urgent care-and got an antibiotic and cough relief.

Hello Ginny - I'm sorry to hear you had to go to acute care. I hope the antibiotic and cough medicine help you feel better soon Ruth - I hope your teeth are hurting too bad today. I wish you all the best with your procedure tomorrow and hope that you heal up from it soon I finished making the flying geese blocks this morning and sewed the quilt top together. It's just a small 36x36 and it looks alright. It was just a way to use some of those fat quarters I've had for a lot of years. I'm hoping I can get some backing and batting cut for it so I can machine quilt it along with the fall table topper I have ready. The Chicken Salad quilt along starts tomorrow, so I'm interested to see what the first block is. Take care

Ginny, I'm so sorry that you ended up having to go to urgent care. The doctor must have decided you had brochitis. I'm glad he gave you the antibiotic and cough med and hope you are well soon. With the antibiotic you probably will. I'm praying that that is the case anyway.
CJ well you know I love flying geese even though the ones I made years ago didn't turn out all that well. For some reason I just really like them. I hope you will like the block that comes out tomorrow.
The lump on my jar that made me look like I had at least a large plum stuck in my cheek then also inside my mouth is getting a little smaller but I've been feeling really bad and have had problems with feeling faint when I stand and then after I walk about 4 feet, complete exhaustion, and also a little nauseated. I've pretty much spent the last couple days sleeping so I had to change my appointment for the tooth extraction and actually they were closed today so I left a message and will have to call back tomorrow to reschedule.Despite what the dentist said the teeth still hurt but not horribly.
I do feel a little better now and actually felt like crocheting

Hello Ruth - I'm sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well and had to cancel your dental appointment. Hope you are feeling better soon and can get it rescheduled. I also hope your teeth will start feeling better. Ginny - Hope your medication has helped you to feel better. It's going to be a warm and sunny day here, and I think tomorrow will also be hot. I can't complain since it's nothing compared to the heat in parts of the country. I made two of the Farm Girl Vintage blocks this morning - the cherries and the tea kettle. I think I'll try to make two each week, so I can finish this quilt along earlier. I'm pretty happy with the cherry block, but not sure on the fabrics for the tea kettle. I might have to remake that one. There are a lot of small pieces in these 12 inch blocks. I can't imagine how difficult the 6 inch blocks are! I'm glad there are a of pictures with each pattern to help with piecing, since some of the directions get a bit confusing to me. I think this weekend I'll cut all the background fabric pieces for the rest of the blocks I want to make and put them in ziplock bags so I'll just have to cut the color fabrics each week. That should save me a lot of time. Take care and I hope you both have a nice weekend.

I don't know if either of you heard that Phyl passed away in late July. I was wondering how she was so I checked some of the threads over in the Over 60s group and read about it. She had said she was having anemia problems and getting bone marrow tests, but the post in the message board said she passed away unexpectedly from a blood clot. I'm not sure we are allowed to copy and paste things from other threads, and I don't want to violate anyone's privacy. Hopefully this link to the thread works and you can scroll down and see the post at 6:49 P.M., that says what happened to Phyl: wwmessageboard.freeforums.net/thread/89391/patriotic-july-sunday-30thI'm very sad to hear about this, I always enjoyed hearing about her outings and crafting. This morning I heard about two other people, one I knew and the other not as much, passing away so I guess that's my three people for today. I sure hope that's it. Take care

Good afternoon, CJ- glad you have a lot of pieces of fabric to test out blocks from, if the directions are not excellent or are hard to follow, I know you will figure it out, but its trying to get the lingo that each designer uses. That sure can be challenging. Are you considering switching out a fabric for the tea kettle block? A very good idea to have the fabrics together in ziplock bags, setting up in advance can sure save a lot time
Aw, Ruth, I am so sorry that you are feeling so poorly- and I hope that you can get into see your dentist very soon. I remember many years ago when I had an upcoming ergot canal that the dentist put me on antibiotic prior to the work. I was shocked at how much better I felt after the root canal, which told me that the tooth was a problem and badly needed to be worked on. Please take care, and infection in your mouth can easily cause other problems.
I checked my after care summary from Urgent Care and the diagnosis was an acute upper respiratory infection. The antibiotic is upsetting my stomach a bit and I am still tired. I stopped to pick up a more daytime cough syrup. Think I will put my feet up and try to rest up.

I"m in shock. I didn't hear of Phyl passing. I know she had many very serious medical issues but they seemed to be under control. It looks like she passed over a month ago.Thank you for letting us know CJ. I know she didn't like me much but she always seemed almost like family anyway.
