Jane how often did you have a cleaning lady? One of my neighbors has the house cleaned for $40 every two weeks. Of course that's Sebring. Your plan sounds like a good one. I hope it works for you.
Welcome home Gail. I'm glad it was a good trip and visit. We often eat in the car on long trips, especially the second day.
I've started marking prices for a garage sale on January 14. Don will need to do this with me and we'll take a room at a time, cleaning out closets, cupboards and drawers. My only problem is finding enough tables to put things on sale day.
I'll be so glad to rid myself of the extra "stuff". Karen C I don't envy your moving. But then it's a good time to minimize.
Lunch was a blueberry spinach smoothie with protein powder and a rye cracker with almond butter. Dinner will be a tossed salad and chili (even though it's 82 degrees and sunny).
Ok coffee cup is empty, back to work. Waving hi to others.

I so appreciate taking a break and "chatting" here.
Karen E great job at the casino. Our son lives in West Des Moines and travels the 3 state area for work. We usually get a phone call when he's traveling. Yesterday he was coming home from Ottumwa. Is that near you?

Sharon I have had a cleaning woman once a month. In between I do the bathrooms and usually sweep but don't mop and try to keep things picked up. I would love twice a month but have never been able to afford it. The first one I had was in my line dance class and she came for 3 hours once a month and charged me $75. The next one was the one all my neighbors have and she charged $80 and was usually here 4 hours. Then this last one charged $80 and was usually gone in about 2hours. So if two women cleaned for 2 1/2 hours I figure it is like 5 hours. As I get where I can do less perhaps I can have them every 3 weeks instead of 4. When this one came to check today I think she thought it would be a breeze since it is cleaned by me and looks decent.
As to garage sales. I use everything I can to put things on. I have only two card tables but I use my snack tables and I turn all these bins upside down and cover them with a sheet and put non breakable stuff on them. I clear off one set of my garage shelves and put things on them and signs up not for sale on the others. I am doing one on Feb 4 and that is the community thing so we get lots of people. I also use my lawn chairs and kitchen chairs and cover them . Any boxes--like shoe boxes I put stuff in. Also just lay some things on blanket on the ground. Whatever I can find to spread it out on I use. Ours is from 8 to noon and once a year but people show up at 7 and I am teaching a line dance class so will close the garage at 11 unless Don takes it over for me. Hardest thing around here is parking your car and driving thru the community. It is very hard for me to display clothes since no way to hang them. I have tried doing it between two ladders with a rope and it doesn't work well at all. this time I plan to put them on the ground on a blanket and just folded.

AOTD: For me #1 and #4 have been my downfall. I am going to get back into eating an earlier and lighter dinner with my heavier meal at lunch. That seems to keep the mindless munching at bay for me. I need to get back to Silver Sneakers. I really love the Zumba Gold classes. I also need to be diligent about getting my 10,000 daily steps in.
Karen, I have taken a couple of online courses for yoga. One was Business of Yoga, the other Overflowing Workshops. When I went to CA in Nov for the Sacred Business Women's Retreat that was sponsored by Divine Feminine Yoga through the Overflowing Workshops course. It gave me the confidence to have my first yoga workshop. One of the friends I made there told me about her Vision Board workshop that she had on Jan 1. I took the idea from her. She is having another one this year. We are going to compare notes as to what worked and what didn't. I love crafts, so this is a perfect beginning workshop for me. We will do a little yoga to set our intention for the new year, have some light snacks and make vision boards. A vision board is a powerful visual representation of what you want to create in your life created using images, personal pictures and words, crafted together on a board. When you see your intended outcome clearly, you are more empowered to achieve it. It can be used as a visual reminder and manifestation of all of the things you want to do, be and have in your life and one of the most powerful tools for creating a roadmap to your success. I am hoping to get more clients at my new gig and even some private clients. I have a couple of great offers to entice them.

We made it to our house just as the snow started. Thanks for thinking of us, Joanne! I'm glad you are enjoying some time with your niece
Gail: glad you are home safe and sound. For goodness sake, don't drive until the roads are completely clear. Kick back, enjoy the snow and Outlander.
Sharon: I did a double take when I saw you are having a yard sale in January! That would never happen in my part of the country. No one would come!
Marlo: I hope you are cozy inside watching the snow!
Karen; I wish I could get my DH to go to the casino near us in Maine. I think it would be fun once in awhile but he hates them
Moving Karen: did you chNge your hairstyle? It looks great
Waving to everyone else. My thumb is tired from iPhone typing!

Jane: I just had an idea for you. Since you have such high standards why don't you do the organizing and things you feel strongly about. Have the cleaning lady wash the floors, bathrooms, etc. give her a very specific list

Ann What do you mean by organizing? This company has a specific plan they follow which seems pretty inclusive. There is no way I can clean floors, dust, clean bathrooms in 5 hours so they will be much faster than I am. I was told they would clean from top to bottom which includes fans, lights, etc and even change the bed and do the lanai tables. The first thing the lady who owns the company said was---you have two offices and only 1 bedroom. Well kind of true since this room has the Murphy Bed so the bed is only down when it is in use. Plus most of the furniture in this room is built in now since I had that done and is perfect for me to use. Today I asked Don to clean off his desk so he did. I don't let anyone do our desks. So the only time his is done is if I do it. Well he can do it and help me since he keeps asking what he can do. He wanted to know did I have any furniture polish. The man pays no attention to me when I am cleaning. That furniture polish has been in every room in this house and even the bathroom for cabinets. We will see how this goes. It sounded very good and they have a web site that most customers have given them a high rating and the two that gave them an average rating said they would have them again and what a good job they did.

Ann I don't think my standards are that high!! LOL But when someone uses your sweeper every month for 6 months and I took it out to use and saw all the dust on it and I sat on the couch and saw all the dust on the bottom shelf of the coffee table--that is not good cleaning--that is lazy cleaning and take my money and run cleaning! Also she said my clorox did not have a lid. Yes it did. She found it when she got home and had it in her stuff. They there was the time she left a bug on the floor which Don had killed and hadn't picked up...still there after she cleaned. And the time she forgot to clean a toilet. Why She would never do that--yes she did. And the times she left cleaning rags laying around. The thing I got so irritated about was how she told me she was so much better than my previous one and bragged at how every one loved her. Then there was the time she didn't come on the day she said she would and when I called her, denied saying she would come that day. So I don't think my standards are that high but my irritation level is! Plus--she told me I didn't know how to clean and she was a professional at it. That was irksome. And she didn't like my broom--so bring your own! I am so glad to be rid of her and should have done it much sooner rather than be timid about the whole thing. So this time I have a company that hires people to do the work and they have a set plan to follow but can add something I want done. I think it will work. I am optimistic about it!

Jane: that sounds great. I know people who leave papers all over, clothes, craft supplies and when their cleaning people come they get upset because they can't find anything. You definitely don't sound like that kind of person. When I worked full time I had a cleaning person who was obsessed with taking care of of my many plants. I told her I just wanted her to clean not spend time fussing with my plants bit sounds like the people you are tLking about will just clean
Yes, Jane. You do sound highly organized and through!!!!
I took a good walk in the snow and went down to the beach a bit but it was too windy. It is a beautiful winter wonderland here. It is so easy to take walks DH made a list of what we need to do to get ready to move.....we won't be moving soon! I am going to keep dieting znd tossing. I save boxes and big shopping bags to fill for Big Brother Big Sister
I'm chatty because I'm standing in front of the fire waiting for the house to warm up. Too cold to knit, read or work on house projects

Ann LOL Is that the teacher gene in me? I love seeing progress of any kind--whether it is in the way a child responds or a senior aged person follows a dance routine or my house looks like a nice place to just sit.
Ok getting off here and maybe I will go put away some of the Christmas stuff and get dinner in the oven.
Kelcy is acting normal ---so what in the world was going on with him. I think I will call the vet and tell him and ask if it is a good idea to put off doing the bloodwork in Jan. and waiting to see if this continues. Vet is probably not in tomorrow but will leave him a message. Maybe tonight I will not take him out at midnight and try for 11 instead. Last night we just missed being drenched by the sprinklers.

Sharon, yes Ottumwa is about 20 or so South of us, actually the largest town in our immediate area. Oskaloosa is 11 miles west of us. We are 70 or so miles SE of Des Moines. I have a sister in West Des Moines, just south of Valley West Mall.

Well, everything turned to rain until my work session ended. By the time I got to the highway it was almost white-out snowing. A very treacherous drive home, but here I am. YAY!
If any of you go to WW meetings, they have some new products that look very good. We gave out samples of a snack for 2 SP that has a swirl of cinnamon in it. It is delicious. They also have gourmet chewing gum. Weird flavors, like popcorn and martini. I bought one of each. Have to try them!
I work again tomorrow morning. It should be clear by the time I leave. I shop for our New Year's Day Brunch on the way back.
Only 5,000 steps today, but I am too tired to do anything more.
Sleep well all. See you tomorrow.
