Good morning and Happy Monday!
All crafters are welcome here as we discuss crafting, life and our weight loss journey. Crafting includes actual hands on crafting, such as crochetting, knitting, sewing, quilting, needlepoint, painting, jewelry making, etc.....plus reading craft catalogs, craft blogs, watching craft you tubes or other crafting videos, chatting here about crafting, chatting with another person about crafting, playing a musical instrument, reading craft emails, thinking about crafting, organizing crafting supplies, going into craft stores or the craft aisle in a store , attending craft fairs,or any other activity that inspires or directs your mind toward a crafting activity- even visiting us here to join in our posts!! There are plenty of days in which the closest we get to crafting is a visit here, so even if you have no time to craft, we would love to hear from you. We welcome newcomers to our friendly discussion! So glad you are here!! Please feel free to stop in and say hello!!

Another Monday!
Ruth, so glad to see that you checked in last nite and I am glad you are ok. I hope and pray that the extraction site continues to heal and that your need for pain relief completely goes away. Yikes…where did the last 9 months go? I pray also for safety for your DDIL and the little one, whenever it is time for the little one to be born. Good progress on the afghan, sounds like you are almost done, and then onto the next afghan! Who is the next afghan for?
Woke up this morning to see that I had had some rain overnight. I had hoped today to lightly sand the railing on the deck and put on another coat of stain…perhaps that will not happen today as it’s supposed to be so warm. My original plan was to do this early before the heat set in. Guess that plan is on hold.
CJ- stay cool! Hope that you can get some time getting the side borders on and perhaps some hand quilting.

Hello - Hope you are both having a good day and your weather isn't too bad. It's very hot here. I can't complain since the summer wasn't that bad. Ruth - I'm glad to hear you are doing well and I hope your mouth heals up soon. Hope everything goes well for mom and baby. Ginny - Sorry you can't get your sanding done, hope you can get to it soon. I finished the borders on the panel quilt today and I'm glad to be done! That was a lot of math and trying to figure out how to make the blocks fit. I had to make different size half square triangles for the sides. I keep saying I'll stop making quilts without a pattern, but that probably won't happen The background of this quilt is a light green and the yellow fabric is more gold in person. I've had this panel for probably at least 15 years, so I'm very happy to have used it. I had a goal to as many of my panel quilts as I could this year, so I'm glad I've made some. I did do some hand quilting last evening and I've finished one of the four sides of the medallion, I'd already finished the center. I'll start on the second side today. Hope you get to do some crafting and have a good day!

Oh boy it’s a hot one!!!
I did have a very peaceful morning, before the heat set in and enjoyed being outside until mid morning (Under the gazebo). Now it’s just so warm. Not much fun being outside. I did cut some more fabric strips for the baby quilt, the lazy daisies are snowballed so I need a bunch (220 to be exact) of 2 1/2 inch squares for that.
Hope you were both able to stay cool and get some crafting in.

Hello all
Well it didn't even get up to 70 here today which was fine with me. I could live with it being in the low 70's, upper 60's all year. I was going to make some bread but I just got the warm water yeast and molasses mixed together when I accidentally knocked over the bowl and it went all over the countertop, onto the floor and into the silverware drawer. I give up on that for this evening now. I did finsh that4th skein of yarn and will work on the last skein for the rest of the evening now. In the last few years I've made basically the same thing for all the girls here and same for all the guys. I usually have a person in mind for each as I'm making them but I don't wrap them and I take them over to my dd;s house and let each one pick the one they want. This year it's afghans for everyone. I do have two of them that are designated ....one for dd and her dh and another for oldest grandson and his fiancee. The rest will choose. For my ds and ddil in Indiana I send money and they use it to do something really fun for the whole family. They are very creative and think of great things to do.
I do hope to get this afghan done in the next couple days.
No news on the baby yet so I guess there won't be any labor on Labor day which doesn't surprise me. Babies come when they're ready.
Have a great night both of you

CJ, guess that spilling of my bread mixture distracted me. I was going to say also that it had to be a lot of careful calculation to figure out that border. You did a great job. The panel looks a lot like the scenery here except we don't have trees

Good morning! Ruth, that stinks that you have such a large cleanup job from the bread mixture spill. Sounds like quite a mess, and I am thankful that you have cooler temps to clean it up in. May the next batch of bread go smoothly with not clean ups necessary. Sounds like a solid plan with the afghans, let everyone pick what they like!! Good progress on getting that last afghan almost done.
Got my 220 squares marked (which the directions asked for) last nite. Hope I can get back to work on the quilt later G

Hello Ruth - I'm sorry to hear about the bread mess, hope you were able to get it all cleaned up and can make some bread again another time. Ginny- I'm glad you got all those squares marked! Hope you can get back to work on the quilt. It's another hot day here, and sunny. I went out earlier to run some errands and it didn't seem very humid. I did a bit of organizing in my quilt room this morning and also pulled out the fabrics for the block a month pattern that came out yesterday. Hope to get that made in the next few days. Moda Blockheads 5 starts tomorrow, so I'll be looking at that block pattern and deciding on some fabrics to use. I may just make a few blocks in different fabrics to start and then see which ones I want to continue. Hope your weather isn't bad and that you get to do some crafting today. Take care

CJ- I think that is a great idea to look at the pattern and then decide which fabrics you want to use. Also a great idea to actually try the fabrics out and see if you find the combination appealing in the way they will be used for each block. You make so many quilt blocks and might as well be pleased with how the blocks go together!!! You also mentioned that you pulled fabrics for a BOM pattern that just came out.- is this a new BOM that you are starting? Gosh there are so many BOM’s out there!! Not sure how you keep track of them all. Hope that cooler temps are in your future soon. For me it looks like Thursday is the hottest, then things start to cool down.
Babysat today- and had the 2 little boys. They are very funny together, and seem to have fun together. I did have them outside before it got too hot. The good news is that I think most Wednesdays I will no longer have to babysit….which means I get a true day off. I love my grandkids but some time off is nice too. That might not start until around Oct 15- but it is something to look forward to.
Ruth, hope that you got the bread mess cleaned up….and still thinking of your DDIL and her little one.

Ginny - I'm glad the boys had a good time today and that you'll hopefully start getting a day off in October The block that came out yesterday is part of the 2023 A Quilting Life BOM, so we're up to 9 blocks now: www.aquiltinglife.com/quilt-block-of-the-month-september-2023/For my projects I keep each of them in a 2 gallon Hefty/Ziploc bag with the instructions showing on top. All the projects bags are kept in the same place, and I have list of all the projects there too. That's part of what I was doing today, putting some more projects into bags. I do think I've over extended myself this year though Fortunately there are only 3 more blocks after this month for two of the quilt alongs, and another ends in October. The Moda Blockheads 5 (part 1) ends in November and Pat Sloan's block Wednesday quilt along runs from Sept 20th to November. So December should be a bit quiet after the first few weeks. My problem is that I have other projects I want to work on too, so then I start pulling fabric for those But I guess it's really not a bad problem to have

CJ, we don't often hear of you going out for errands but lately you seem to have had more than usual. I'm glad you have that done and are home safely. You always seem to have a great plan for your projects. And If you don't like a block after you've made it you save it to potentially be used in a different project.
Ginny, I bet those little boys are fun to have for the day but I'm glad you will be finally having a day off each week. Something to look forward to
I did get the mess cleaned up yesterday and today have the bread in progress and kitchen cleaned up...for now anyway. I got a real surprise today when I decided to get busy and follow dh's ortho doctor's suggestion to go ahead and make a definite app't for Jan or Feb to the neuro surgeon. I found that they had already scheduled an appointment and it's for day after tomorrow. I hate getting last minute things like that but at least we'll find out more info and possibly how soon the surgery will be. I think that dh has a timeframe in mind but we'll see what the doctor has to say.Next week is my followup dental app't and I still have to reschedule the pcp app't that I had to cancel and also eye appt for followup for me and exam for dh who is having eye issues...Kind of like dry eye maybe.I have a feeling that this month is going to be really filled with medical "stuff" Where my teeth were extracted is not healing right.
No news on baby yet.
The bad thing about making big items is it takes so long. I'm tired of working on this afghan and have been even though I just started it a week ago. I'm anxious to get on with the next one.I am nearly done though

Ruth, I sort of suspected that the extraction site was problematic, but hope that whatever the dentist says is an easy fix. Perhaps would you call this week before the appointment to let them know that it does not appear to be healing properly? That is quite something that Dh already had an appointment with the neurosurgeon. It’s actually a good thing, besides that he is seen earlier, because now you can select a time for the procedure instead of falling into their schedule. Hopefully the procedure date works out well- of course it’s in God’s hands too. Well, that little one will be here sooner or later….hopefully sooner! Prayers for a safe delivery. Yes larger items do take more time and you are used to smaller items which go more quickly.Yay- good to hear that you are nearly done with it.
Day 2 of heat here. So looking forward to cooler weather in a few days.
CJ, hope you slept well

And another thought….while a few weeks of medical stuff if surely not fun, it does provide a great opportunity to crochet.

Good afternoon Ladies.
CJ we must have been typing at the same time yesterday because I just found that I didn't see your last post. I went and looked at the blocks. I see that she's already talking about 2024 BOM, Yes you have a lot of projects going on right now and you said that Dec will be a quiet month well looks like there are already plans to keep you busy. The 2024 she mentions will give info earlier
Ginny, that's what I thought too about all the appointments...lots of waiting, aka crocheting,.time
I had a big setback on my afghan. I looked back and saw a glaring mistake that had to be corrected so out came all of the part of that last skein I had done and 3 long rows of the section before it so I have a lot to catch up on
My ddil says she thinks the baby will come on Saturday. If she's born on Sunday she will be born on the birthday of my oldest and youngest great grandchildren.I thought I had said this in my post yesterday but I don't see it so forgive me if I'm repeating
