How did everyones day go?
Babysat today- so that makes for a busy day. The little boys were pretty good, the only bad thing was that it rained or threatened to rain all day, so I was unable to take them outside. Got a little bit of embroidery done while they napped.

Hello It's nice that our temps have stayed in the 70s for a few days. I'm hoping we're done with the 80s. Ginny - Sorry you weren't able to take out the boys, but I'm sure they still had a good time with you Ruth - Hope you are well and getting to work on your crochet projects. My finger is doing well, I was very fortunate it was on my left hand (I'm right handed) and it was just near the tip. I went out this morning so I haven't done any quilting today. I'll have several blocks to make this week for quilt alongs and I also want to get my fabrics pressed/starched and cut for more of the Dutchman's puzzle blocks. Those go together very quickly once the fabric is cut. Take care

It's too bad it rained. I know you and the boys like going outdoors and it probably helps them with sleep during naps. I know you said you are going to have a challenging week this week so hope and pray that you get some good rest each night
CJ, I'm glad to hear your finger is doing ok and also that it's your left hand not your dominant right hand.
I have had time to crochet so far today but soon will start making dinner and a cake that dh requested. I think the afghan is coming along. I started it a week ago yesterday and had visions of having it done in a week. Of course that was not realistic so another week should do it.
I've been trying to figure out what little girls that are 4, 6 and 7 like so that I can start thinking about Christmas gifts. Dolls comes to mind but I don't know if these girls play with dolls or not. The 7 year old is my #3 grandaughter's stepdaughter who lives with dgd and her husband and dgd has a 7 year old son and I think the both children spend most of their playtime playing together so I'm thinking maybe board games or craft kits

Hello - Hope you are doing well today and having nice weather. It's a pretty day here in the mid-70s with a breeze. Ruth - What kind of cake did you make? I hope you can figure out what the little girls would like for a Christmas gift Ginny - Hope your day is going well. I was able to get a lot done this morning. I made one of my monthly quilt along blocks and I cut some border fabric pieces for the new Pat Sloan Wednesday quilt along that starts tomorrow. This the quilt along that I'm using the gnome fabric for my focus fabric and I wanted a nice big 6 inch outer border of this fabric. So I needed to cut the borders first to see what I'd have left to work with in the quilt. www.hancocks-paducah.com/Timeless-Treasures-Fabrics-Hello-Fall-Gnomes-Pumpkin-Patch-Apple-Picking-Cream?quantity=1&custcol_tt_itemoption_decimals=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwjaWoBhAmEiwAXz8DBcMfT1Tw4-KRSuC07zGpOHV4vaSUR22Qm-6EwgHuFwyBElmLy-2SiRoCS8QQAvD_BwENow I'll just need to press/starch the border fabric and trim it up to be ready for the end of the quilt along. Here's a link to the new quilt along: www.ilovetomakequilts.com/autumn-wonders.htmlI also pressed/starch and cut some fabrics for 5 more Dutchman's Puzzle blocks, so I can make them when I have time. And then I traced an embroidery pattern that I hope to get done this month. This blogger has been giving out a free monthly embroidery pattern this year, but I only saw it recently, so I went back through her blog and saved all of them. I'm thinking about doing them in different color embroidery floss instead of all red like she has done. Then I can sash them in a pretty fabric and have 12 blocks to make into a quilt top. pinkernpunkinquilting.blogspot.com/2023/09/september-is-here.html - Scroll down to see the cute apple basket pattern Of course, I should be working on my hand quilting, but now I want to work on the embroidery. I have a slight focus problem sometimes Hope you get to do some crafting today. Take care!

My internet is very weak and cuts in and out- see you tomorrow ! On the phone with the service and it sounds like an entire system failure

CJ, I love going to the links you provide and seeing beautiful fabric and quilt blocks and tops. I love the gnome fabric and can't remember what all else I saw.
Ginny, sorry about your internet service failure. We had a brief outage last week but it didn't last long at all and I hope your's doesn't either.
We had planned to go out and do a couple errands today but we both slept poorly and after finally getting to sleep we slept late so stayed home.I did do a little crocheting earlier and plan to do more the rest of the evening.
Have a good night everyone

Ruth, it sounds like you and DH both needed some rest, and I am glad you were able to get some! Most of the time the errands can wait… were you able to get any more crocheting time in?
CJ- glad to hear that your finger is healing nicely and not on your dominant hand. The Pat Sloan quilt along seems to be a mystery quilt, although you know the layout and how it’s supposed to eventually all fit in. I hope you enjoy working with the gnome fabric…pretty fall colors!! Gee that apple basket pattern is adorable and I think it’s a great idea to embroider it in different colors. Have fun with that! And now isn’t that always the way, we are always looking for a new project even though we have many unfinished projects to complete?
Last night my internet was awful. on those rare moments when we had it, it was very weak. DS rebooted the router several times and I got stuck on hold with the internet company for a long time before I hung up. Sounds like it was a widespread problem, because I have never been on hold that long. Today the problem seems to be resolved.
I did get some embroidery done yesterday while DGS napped. The project is coming along nicely.. I am thinking I will turn it into a small pillow for Jane when done.

Hello Ruth - Hope you slept better last night. Did you go out today? Ginny - Sorry to hear about your internet problems, I hope it's working better today. An embroidered pillow sounds like a pretty gift for your friend. It was nice and sunny here today, and in the 70s again. I hope we get a lot of this weather before it turns colder. I made a few quilt blocks today. I used the gnome fabric with other fabrics and made the quilt block for Pat Sloan's new quilt along. I liked the block so much, I made another one in some Christmas fabrics and I'm thinking about placing the blocks around a panel instead of using her layout for the Christmas version. I also made the new Moda Blockheads weekly block and it was a nice one: modafabrics.com/inspiration-resources/bh5-block-2-joanna-figueroaI cut fabrics for two more blocks and I hope to get those made in the morning. I'm going to keep trying the three different fabric versions for a few weeks and then figure out if I want to keep doing that through November. Take care!

CJ- please spread some of your mojo my way….I cannot seem to get my motivation up to quilt…are you supposed to be impacted by the tropical system that will be giving me a lot of rain this weekend? I hope that it avoids you and you have decent weather. That is great that you are enjoying the block for the quilt along and that you love that gnome fabric so much. What a nice idea to use those blocks around a panel (in Christmas fabrics) if you have a nice Christmas panel you want to use.
Ok, this is it…gonna go make a block or two for the baby quilt
Ruth, hope you are having a good day.

Hello Ginny - I hope you felt like making some blocks for your baby quilt. It looks like it will be windy and wet here on Saturday. I'm hoping it goes a bit more to the east and I don't get too much bad weather. Hope your weather from the storm isn't bad either. Ruth - I hope you are doing well and getting to do some crocheting. I finished the Moda Blockheads blocks this morning and then started working on my Dutchman's Puzzle quilt again. I'd really like to get this quilt top done and sandwiched/basted by the end of the month so I can start working on the hand quilting in October. It will be nice to have a quilt over my lap once it gets colder. Take care

Well today feels like one of those days where you just think that it could be better and I don't know why. Weather is nice. It's in 70's and sunny. I've really not done anythinng but crochet today so far. I got up to 56 inches and I wanted 60 but now if I just go to 60 it will throw off the sequence of colors so I may have to go for more inches in order to get it to work the way I want it. I'll have to add 9 inches but that will be fine. I'll just put a wide border on both sides to make it wider and then a thin one all around. It will take me a few more days.
CJ, It's great to hear that you really like those blocks. I went to the link for the block and I really like it too.Yes it will feel good to have a quilt on your lap when it's cooler.
Ginny, well you'll be feeling some quilting again and you do have a little time. I just would hate to see that you have to rush as the time grows nearer to when you need to have it completed. I know that feeling.

Good morning!!
Ruth, so it sounds like somewhere along the way I missed that you were making a temperature afghan? Absolutely a great idea to put a wide border on the sides to make it the way you want- and I hope you can complete it within the time you have scheduled for it.
CJ- good to hear your enthusiasm on the Dutchman’s puzzle quilt! That will be a great quilt to hand quilt….and so nice to have it on your lap while you are working on it
Yes, I got a few blocks done on the baby quilt. It’s such a pretty fabric collection and I enjoy working with it. Think I have to move onto the ditzy daisy block (think that is what they call it) next…with the weather this weekend, and Monday off from babysitting due to a Jewish holiday, I should get some more quilting time in.
Oh, I slept so poorly last night…gonna be a long day
