CJ, you asked the other day what kind of cake I made. It was an oatmeal cake with broiled frosting. It was good but a sugar bomb
Ginny, no I'm not making a temperature blanket. It's actually a crystal wave stitch in rows rather than c2c. I made the chain long enough but this stitch pulls it in and it ended up narrower than I wanted it to be.I'm glad you were able to make some blocks for the quilt. It's a very cool day here. It's in the 60's so far.Dh wants me to make cinnamon rolls. I seem to have lost my recipies so I'll have to look up a new one.
See you all later

Hello Ruth - That cake sounds good. Hope you can find a good recipe for cinnamon rolls. Sounds like your blanket is coming along, hope you have time to work on it this weekend. Ginny - I'm glad you finished a few blocks on the baby quilt and are enjoying working with the fabric. I hope your weekend weather isn't too bad. It's cooler here today and cloudy. It looks like we'll have rain and wind this weekend, but I'm hoping it's not too bad. I finished making my Dutchman's Puzzle quilt blocks and after looking at the decided not to join them all together into one quilt top. Instead I kept them separated into two quilt that are about 36x36, so that's a nice table topper size. I hope to get some backing and batting cut for them and get them basted soon so I can hand quilt them. Hope you have a great weekend!

Hello - Hope you are both doing well today. We've had rain all day and it looks like it doesn't end until tomorrow sometime, it's windy too. I made two of the Farm Girl Vintage blocks this morning. One came out fine, but the other one is too large in one direction. I can't figure out how this happened, since I used all the pieces and it looks correct. Anyway, it was very frustrating, as most of these blocks are to make, and I think I'm about done with this quilt along. I have seven blocks made and there are two more I do want to make, so I might stop at just 9 blocks. It makes me a bit sad because I just love the look of these quilt blocks, but I'm not good at working with all the little pieces. There were like 20 - 1 inch pieces in this block! And the directions confuse me a bit. So maybe it's time to finish it up. I hope you get to do some crafting too. Take care

Gee, CJ that is awfully frustrating that the farm girl block size is off….not sure how that could have happened, but I know you will make the right decision for you regarding if you continue to work on it or not. How are you making out with the storm?
Ruth, cinnamon rolls!!! Yum! And they make the house smell great, a wonderful cold weather food for sure.
DD came over and I got a lot of house work done before and after her visit. No quilting through which I figure I will get to tomorrow.

Happy Sunday everyone!
Ginny, I'm glad you were able to visit with your dd yesterday and also get some work done. I hope today you'll be able to get some resting time
CJ, Yes that is odd that one block is larger. I also can see why you wouldn't want to do a lot of those really small pieces
Well I added just a couple rows of sc to that blanket I've been working on.I found that I had messed up somehow. I give advice to ppl in the crochet groups telling them to stop and count stitches every few rows and to use stitch markers in the first and last stitch but I didn't take my own advice and the blanket is crooked.I might go back and add a wider border to each side. It's still usable. Then I started working on another afghan that I started a few years ago but then couldn't figure out how the edges were done. Yet another instance of not taking my own advice in that I didn't put a note with the project with the pattern I used (if any), hook size, and what row was next. So I started another in the same stitch to see how those rows are supposed to start and end.
It was very cool here yesterday. If I had a furnace it would have turned on.All the coming week is to be in 80's before it gets cool again. This will be a busy week with several things to do outside the home.

Hello The rain looks like it's about over now. Hopefully the week ahead will be nice. It was never very windy, and just a few times with heavy rain, otherwise it was more steady rain or showers. Ginny - Hope you were able to work on your quilt today. Ruth - Hope you can work out what to do with that crochet project. I had that problem too, looking back at a half done project and not sure how I did the first half! Hope your busy week goes well. I finished two more of the Farm Girl Vintage quilt blocks this morning, so I have 9 good ones (and the one bad one that I'll put aside). I went ahead and joined them into rows of 3 and put sashing all the way around. I'm going to make an outer border with 3.5 inch blocks of the fabrics from this fabric line and then I'm done. It was just kind of a letdown wanting to make these quilt blocks for years and then finding out that I really didn't like making them Also the fabric (which is a good quality Riley Blake Lori Holt line) was so irritating to work with. It was just so stringy/threading everywhere. I would never be able to cut off all the strings on the back of this quilt, with all the unraveling around each edge of fabric. But at least I can say I've made my version of a Farm Girl Vintage quilt. I'll be happy to get that done and move on to something else. I saved a bunch of the bonus half square triangles from my Dutchman's Puzzle blocks and I'm sewing them into quilt blocks with a star design. I think I have 6-8 to make. Hope you both have a good evening

Good evening, Well I am here early enough that I am coherent and able to leave a post that hopefully mkaes some sense.
Ruth, think we have all done just that, crocheted our hearts out to find out that either an extra stitch was slipped in or one left out. I made a large afghan for DD and DSIL that had a decisively crooked side, because I lost count. Anyway, sounds like you have a good plan to even this out. Were you able to figure out the other afghan by starting a test afghan? You do so much crocheting and I bet try so many new patterns that you probably intend to leave a note for yourself- then find another pattern - try that one….and on and on it goes. Sounds like this week will be challenging for you. I guess better to do that in warmer weather than weather that is too cool. Hope that your errands are productive.
CJ- yes that must be frustrating to have made a block or blocks that you have had your eye on for years only to find that they were not as much of a pleasure to make as you wanted. I have had that same kind of issue with fabric. When making the BOM at the quilt shop, all their fabric was great quality except for one, which frayed and did not press well. Anyway, congrats on making your version of a Farm Girl Vintage quilt!! You can check that one off your bucket list of quilts. glad that Ophelia was not as bad to your area as it could have been. I am glad that its over with for you and I hope your week has pleasant weather.
This morning I was up and ready early for church, so I did get a little bit of machine time in and made a few more tulips. Got one more to make….but it’s all cut out and just needs to be sewn together. I did get some embroidery time in while watching football and the picture is coming along. I am a bit tired now (woke up early) but will get into my sewing room to finish the last tulip. I will wait till tomorrow to start the alternate block.
