Good Morning Marm and LTMs,
Marm, I hope you are doing well today and will be back to post later.
This morning it was 30º (feels like 19º) with a few clouds and going up to 44º and windy and sunny with winds WNW 10-15 mph.
I’m posting a bit later than usual today because I enjoyed lounging in my cozy bed for a while and I woke up with my arthritis having a flare up so I was aching. I’ll get some relief once my Tramadol starts working. All three girls are still asleep and enjoying the last few days of Christmas break.
King and MJ took Rachael to the mall in Lincoln so she could buy something with a gift card she got for Christmas. I was surprised that no one else wanted to go and use theirs.
For supper last night MJ made chicken stir fry and used angel hair pasta instead of rice for a change and it was delicious.
Another Japan memory: I remember when we were at Lake Nojiri in the summer and we would have an occasional all day rain. There would be no swimming or boating or outdoor play so it would be a good day to get out a jigsaw puzzle and make popcorn in the fireplace. We had a popcorn popper on a long metal handle that could be held over an open fire. I still remember how good the house smelled for the rest of the day and evening until we could open windows again. We were always glad if it was just a one day rain but it was a lot of fun too. More tomorrow.

Good morning Marm and all:
Marm, I was glad to hear from you last night that all went well with Herb. I pray he had a good night and doing okay today. Did the cold packs have to go on throughout the night? If so, you are one tired lady. I trust your prep today for your leg surgery tomorrow goes well. Take care my leader of this group.
DH is up and doing okay although he is tired and doesn't want to get up as early as usual. Perhaps it's the medication, or he is just tired yet from the whole ordeal. Tomorrow afternoon he has an appointment with a PA who is with our PCP. He doesn't see his neurologist until the 11th. He will look at the scans he had of his mead, neck and brain after the first passing out that he had.
I've gathered all our decorations and will pack them away soon, along with our tree, but that undecoration might be another day. We haven't had them up as long as you, Rose Marie, but Im ready to put them away. Our Christmas Eve and Christmas Day was wonderful up to the time that DH passed out. Now I want to move on to the coming year.

Good Morning,
Just got out of the shower but I was dilly dallying a long time before I got to it.
Looks like a nice morning - maybe I should take a winter walk. I know DH won't go - not here in town. If I go it probably won't be far. I need to work up to any distance again - even a measly mile.
We may get gale force winds today so DH didn't want to go order the shower door. I have to look for a exhaust fan & light too. We haven't had one here & need one so bad. Since DH likes his showers equivalent to a sauna maybe I'll look at one that heats too.
I have a pot of pea soup started. It smells so good, maybe cause we haven't had it for a long time. It will be a good 'go to' for our lunches since DS doesn't like it. Supper will be chicken again. We haven't had that for a while. I need to cook some cranberry sauce & prunes today - not together. Maybe a batch of cookies too. DH & DS go through chocolate chip & PB very fast. Guess I'll have a full day if I only get some of this done. Oh, I also have sheets washing now & one more load to wash.
DS got his computer back last night. I tried 'playing' with it this morning but will need some help from either him or DH. Both go through everything way to fast for me retain as they click keys & talk at the same time. There's still stuff on it that I will never use UNLESS I HAVE TO & missing some that I want. They just don't hear what I like. Maybe I'll still go to the Geek Squad at BB, or maybe we need to transfer everything from my computer which we didn't do yet. The guys seemed to think I wouldn't have to. They don't know me!!
Marm, hope you & DH had a good night but not sure if that happened. I too wonder of the ice packs were to be done through the night too. Did he have both eyes operated on? How are your legs from the first surgery?
Gareth, thanks for the recipe. It looks like what I found when I googled it but those recipes would serve an army.
Mary, wish the elves would come pack my Christmas stuff away! It will go fast once I start but hard for me to get started. Mostly I hate to think of the stair climbing to get boxes out & then put away. And the attic is cold! The boxes are in the basement so only one trip to the attic. I'm planning on doing it Sunday. Maybe during the GB game even though it has been moved to a night game. Would be thrilling if the Lions gave them a shellacking but doubtful.
Clothes are done washing & the timer just went off for the soup. Guess my rest is over:(

Good morning, all LTMs,
At least, it's morning as I start. WW this morning in Port Charlotte (down 1.2#s!), so a stop at Sam's while in the area. I didn't have much to get, except for fruit, and chicken broth for soup, etc. I did get a rotisserie chicken, so we'll have our main meal at 1, then just soup for dinner. DH & I walked at 7 this morning, before I needed to get ready.
We are to have a cold morning on Saturday, temp about 37* over night. BRRRR! I know, nothing like what most of you are having, but we have been in the 80's so will be a real change. We'll creep back up starting Sunday, w/ temps back to the low 80's or at least high 70's within a few days. Just a shot of cold air to remind us why we live here!
Marm, I dohope Herb had a decent night. Take care, friend, and know you are in our prayers!
Have a great afternoon, all,
Rose Marie

Sitting and resting awhile. Good to be inside out of the wind. Glad we put off WM shopping. Parking lot at HyVee was bad enough. That wind is cold too. Wish I didn't have to go out in it again later to go to work.
I too am wondering how your DH is today Marm. Hope you both had a good night.
Mary, glad to hear DH seems to be doing well. Probably going take him awhile to catch up on his rest after his ordeal.
Bipp, keep forgetting to answer your question about that med. After almost three weeks of taking it with no results I quit taking it. It was drying my sinuses out so bad too so I'm glad I stopped taking it. I can breathe so much easier again now. Guess I have to just accept I'm not ever going to be able to sleep through the night without a BR break.

Hi all. We just got home from shopping at two grocery stores. The one was full of people. It never used to be packed but it sure has been lately. We'll be set for awhile now altho I wish I had bought some apples but it was jonagolds on sale and I think they are a hybrid of jonathans and golden delicious and I don't like the golden delicious..too sweet. I have plenty of other fruit to eat.
Mary, I imagine that your dh would be tired from his hospital stay and all the tests but also most anti convulsant meds do cause tiredness at first. As I said I don't know any that start with K but it probably causes tiredness too.
WE have a bit of wind..they say gusts up to 65 but for the most part I think that we sent it all to you.
Rose Marie, that sounds pretty cold for Fl but at least it won't last.
Marlene, I didn't walk outside the whole summer because I needed to work up to more than a mile and I was embarrassed to be seen only walking a very short distance in order to work up to the mile, I had intended to walk inside in the winter to gain endurance but I didn't do it. I'll try this winter. It will be my long term goal and I'll have to make shorter term ones in order to get there
Yes I would sure love if the Lions beat GB. Marlene, my pea soup came out thinner this time and I think I like it better that way. Mine usually turns out more like a puree than soup.
Marm, I'll be praying again for your surgery tomorrow and I was wondering too if you had to do those packs all night.

Oh and Gareth, I'm sorry to hear that the med didn't work for you. It has to be a huge pain in the neck to have to get up so often in the night.

Ruth, the drug DH was given is Levetiracetam, and Keppra is a common brand name. While in the hospital they all referred to Keppra. I would, too, and not have to pronounce the formal name. Speaking about the wind, I was out to Aldi's today and the wind was strong, making it very cold. I never dreamed it was that cold outside!
Rose Marie, will some of your delicious fruit down there be freezing this weekend? There go the prices!
Well, I got a lot of our Christmas stuff packed away, with only the nativity set and tree left to take down and put away. Maybe tomorrow morning. The afternoon will be taken up with DH's appointment.
Marm, Prayers for your procedure tomorrow!

Doris, Sorry to hear of the pain. Not fun. Sounds like you did enjoy one day of rain in Japan w/the plans on what would do.
Mary, Yeah, I had Ice pack in the Freezer ready for hubby and he would put the one using in when one out. so he kept that pretty good. I did only once in the night fix it up for him. I'm thinking of taking my Xmas Decore down in couple days.
Marlene*,Yep, I'm one that would want everything transferred to a new computer. Leg is feeling good. Won't be long and all this will be behind us. YES! Soup is always good. I made some to.
Rose Marie*, Ah ST*R for you. Good job! Brrrrr, Hope it doesn't get any colder. That is cold there for Florida. I know houses there isn't built for cold weather.
Gareth, I Hate this wind, W/out it, it would feel warmer anyhow. Sorry about the med not working for the BR brks. Now the one part I would like a bit of is drying my sinus.
Ruth, If you like Mactosh Apples? I'll share some w/ya. Ha,ha. nice if it was that easy. Way to go reaching LT in the 70's. Way before me.
DH is feeling real good. So sleeping in bed is ah go. Still have Ice Packs, But be done in the morning and able to drive. I have to be there early again for Surgery. PLEASE SOMEONE START US AGAIN IN THE MORNING. THANK YOU!!!!! Well I did have my computer guy over. A shame to say my Computer is NOT THE PROBLEM w/me getting on here. Its the WEB SITE. So after all this is over I might have work on what's happening. Well I did make that Soup I posted w/the Spices. It is good. but I added a lot more of the spices like DD did. Well I have to check out the scanner see how I much I remember.
So this is a Good night. See you all late AN tomorrow. Sleep well Friends...

Marm, when I lived in NY my favorite apples were McIntosh and Cortland. They don't have either one of those here. They used to have the Mac, they did cost more than other apples but now they don't even have them anymore. There are so many new apples and of course the HoneyCrisp is the "trendy" apple to eat. Very expensive. I really loved the Macs. One time they sold some apples here...last summer I think. that were called Pinata They were really good. When I buy apples I usually by gala, fuji or Braeburn. I kinda like the pink lady apples too.I think they sold the new Jazz apple here too but I didn't get any of those I don't think

Ruth, we have a wide variety of apples sold here, all that you mentioned, except I haven't seen the Jazz, and I would remember that name. I can't say that I have a favorite, just so it's hard and juicy, but we've been buying the Honeycrisp lately.

Mary, I hear Mn is a great apple growing state like it was back in Ny. Nothing grows here and it's really strange because Co grows a lot of fruits ut they don't usually sell them here. They sell Co fruits in Alaska but not right here in the state directly north of Co.

Hi to all my dear friends,
I got very sick Tuesday night, Wed morning about 3:00. Very, very nauseated. Told my friend, and then she tried to get me Wed night and I did not answer so they came over here. Know the code to the garage and came in....I was watching TV. So that night I went to sleep and slept ALL night in the reccliner. I had my DH's NO Saints cover on and Elsa on to top of me. I really did sleep. She is a great blanket warmer!!
It is really cold outdoors for us. So, I am staying inside.....Remember that 3# of cottage cheese?? Well, it is 1/2 finished and it is good for a few more days... I wish I had some cranberry sauce. I love that with cottage cheese./ And or turkey or chicken!! Watching TV....Marm, I pray you do well tomorrow AND quickly recover. P will be happy to have you both home and loving her.
I had a wonderful surprise the other day when I rescued my Casio Keyboard!!! it is one that my DS had and I do know a little bit about playing....I am so impressed to hear that many are saying Merry Christmas rather than Happy Holidays.....

Oh Bipp, I'm so sorry to hear you were so sick. I'm glad though that you have such good friends that can come over and check on you. It's good to hear that you feel better now. Do you think it was something you ate? You do eat a lot of cottage cheese don't you I have two one pound containers and they'll last me a long time although I think I do need to eat some between meals. I usually only have two meals a day so this will be a good thing to have between those maybe with just a little bit of fruit.Cranberry sauce with it sounds really good. I'll have to make some. I see that some of you have made your own cranberry sauce...any recipes? I'd love to have one if someone is willing to post.
