CJ- that is a pretty star block….but then I like star blocks!! What an awesome idea to make pillow covers out of your embroidery projects! The September is just adorable, and what I really like is that this allows you to enjoy your crafting efforts. The pillow looks great
Sorry, I briefly had a busy day babysitting and then I ran a few errands afterwards. We’ve had a lot of rain, thank you for asking but not the horrible amount that fell across the river. Thank you Lord I checked downstairs and my house is dry.
I’ll check back later on to see if Ruth has been in to say hello

Just checked, looks as though Ruth did not check in at all yesterday.
Ruth, I hope that you and your family are doing ok.
CJ- what is the January embroidery pattern? I love the simplicity of the September pattern and what a nice job you did on it. It appears to be all done in outline stitch, a pleasant stitch to work in.
Not sure what today will bring for me. Got some household stuff to take care of- and some catching up. One more very busy week with a bit more babysitting… I am sure looking forward to returning to a more normal schedule.

Hello - Hope you are both having a nice day. It was cloudy here earlier, but now the sun is out and it's around 75. Ginny - Hope you were ble to get your household things done and after next week you get some quieter weeks. The January embroidery is a snowman. Here's a link to the blog post where you can save the pattern to print: pinkernpunkinquilting.blogspot.com/search?updated-max=2023-01-03T14:16:00-06:00&max-results=7&start=15&by-date=falseI hope that works, if not let me know. Ruth - I hope you are doing well and working on some projects. I almost finished the January embroidery last night, it stitches up really quickly. I should finish it today and then I'll have to pick some fabric to make the pillow cover. Last night I decided to make a tablerunner from one of my kits. This one is an Acorn Table Runner and the kit was from Shabby Fabrics. I cut all the fabric last night and then today I pieced it together and quilted and bound it! It was pretty easy and the pattern and kit really made it great. The fabric colors are not the kind I usually pick, but they are pretty and the fabric was a really nice quality. I used the technique of sewing the binding on the back and then pulling it to the front and stitching it down right at the edge. I really like this method for pieces like this. If this was a larger or nice quilt I'd want to give to someone I'd sew the binding on the front and the hand stitch to the back. I also picked out some threads to try some big stitch quilting on my Dutchman's Puzzle quilt (the one I basted). I'm going to use different colors in each block since the stitching will show. Hope you get to do some crafting too. Take care

CJ- I have done that also, attaching the binding to the back and top stitching it to the front. Especially for something like a baby quilt or a table runner which might be washed a lot. Nice job on the table runner, I love the fabrics and you did a great job. That it was from Shabby Fabrics, I do like their website. Congrats on being almost done with the January embroidery. It’s a cute pattern but I really like the chicken in a mitten pattern . So Sweet.
Ruth, I hope you are enjoying your weekend.
I did get the fabrics picked out for the remaining dizzy daisies and got a few more sewn. I would have gotten more done, but had to work on some music for church tomorrow. I did get to run 2 short errands today also, which will make my life much easier for the early part of the week. Think I might get comfortable for the evening and work on some embroidery.

CJ, when you can sew straight, which you can, I think it's a good idea to sew the binding the way you did it. It would be much sturdier I think. The table runner is very pretty and perfect for fall. I liked the items you posted yesterday too, especially the blue and white star block. You also did a great job on the embroidery which made a wonderful pillow cover.
Ginny, I'm glad you were able to et a couple of the errands done in advance so that the week ahead has less things to be done.
I did a bit of crocheting but more weeding out of patterns I have put in my bookmarks.

Ruth - good that you were able to work on straightening out the patterns you hve been bookmarking. I can imagine that is quite an undertaking, getting your digital library of patterns organized. Hope that your weekend is going well and that you are getting some crochet time in.
CJ, looks like summer returns for most of the east coast this week. it’s only a few days long, which is good news for sure.
Happy Sunday….hope everyone gets some crafting time in!

Hello - Hope you are doing well today and having good weather. It's up to 80 here today and sunny. Looks like we'll have a few warm days this week, but nothing too bad. Ginny - I'm glad you were able to get more of the daisies sewn. I meant to tell you that I'm using the backstitch on those embroidery pieces. I usually use a stem or outline stitch, but I'm like the backstitch and it's really quick. Ruth - I'm glad you were able to weed out some patterns. Hope your projects are going well too. How is your mouth doing? I hope it's healed up. This morning I did my monthly cleaning of my sewing machine and replacing the needle, also put in a new rotary blade I should really start doing a bi-monthly machine cleaning, there was a lot of lint in there. Then I made a few small blocks from the left over fabric from the table runner. They really give a nice generous amount of fabric in the kit. After that I started stitching on my Dutchman's Puzzle quilt. It's not too bad stitching through the Warm and Natural batting, I just need to make sure I'm not stitching on the seam (which adds thickness). I wasn't sure how I was going to stitch them, so I'm trying out one block first. I'm going to use different color threads in each block (to match the floral fabric). Hope it looks nice at the end I'm trying not to get into any big projects but I have ideas floating in my head, so I'll be surprised if I can resist. Hope you have a wonderful day

Well I tried to get a post in to let you know that my internet is sketchy today. I wasted about an hour of today trying to contact my ISP and after 45 minutes on the phone managed to get somewhere. They are supposedly sending a service tech tomorrow to replace EVERYTHING and are suggesting a signal booster (which is free). I confess to being very very tired of this- today i Call the cable company four times and finally got someone that would help me on that last call. The other three times I was hung up on, but I believe by the system and not a person.
Aw CJ we all see projects that we like to take on and try and some of them are just so hard to Resist. I think your idea of using different colors threads should work out beautifully and I’m sure you’ll pick just the right colors. Nice job getting your needle and your machine cleaned, I tend to clean out my machine every other bobbin. Yes, some thread and some fabric, and some batting creates so much more Lint than others. Simply amazing that or she machines put up with it. Yes, backstitch is easy and usually pretty easy to keep the stitches even. Some stitches it’s just difficult to do that. As pretty as it is, I can get very tired of satin stitch, don’t ask me why.
Yes, it’s somewhat warmer here today but the sun is out and we’re done with the rain. Looks like a warm week at least until Friday. I wasted so much time on the phone with the cable company that I’m not gonna be able to get much done on the baby quilt. But some of the blocks are already set up so I just have to press them and put the snowballed Sections together.
Ruth, I hope you’re able to get some crochet time in and that you’re having a good day.
Gosh, it’s hard to believe that tomorrow is Monday

Good afternoon everyone. I hope you are both having a good day
Ginny, well sounds like your day was taken up by phone calls. I hope they get things straightened out. Seems like you have a lot of internet issues. I remember you mentioning it before.
CJ, thank you, yes my mouth is almost entirely healed. There's just a little dent now that needs to fill in. I know the feeling of seeing projects that are looming in the near future.I'll be glad to get these Christmas gift blankets done so I can move on to other crochet projects.Well I also have some other projects I need to do such as organizing the garage but that's been on my list for years. Since we are thinking of maybe moving from here we do need to start. Dh has even asked me to save a couple large boxes for him to put things in he's decided to donate.
So I'm taking another day to mostly crochet. I've pulled one wip out that I know I couldn't finish because I don't have enough of that yarn to finish it as the afghan I'm working on is also a 3 year old wip using the same yarn. It's one I'm finishing and I'll need the yarn from the other to finish it. I keep thinking of CJ's article or video on doing something with ufo's...either finish or take apart to make something else with the materials. The other afghan I have in progress is another yarn I want to use up. Both are Pound of Love by Lion Brand. I have a lot of that yarn in various colors that needs to be used.
