Good morning and Happy Monday!
All crafters are welcome here as we discuss crafting, life and our weight loss journey. Crafting includes actual hands on crafting, such as crochetting, knitting, sewing, quilting, needlepoint, painting, jewelry making, etc.....plus reading craft catalogs, craft blogs, watching craft you tubes or other crafting videos, chatting here about crafting, chatting with another person about crafting, playing a musical instrument, reading craft emails, thinking about crafting, organizing crafting supplies, going into craft stores or the craft aisle in a store , attending craft fairs,or any other activity that inspires or directs your mind toward a crafting activity- even visiting us here to join in our posts!! There are plenty of days in which the closest we get to crafting is a visit here, so even if you have no time to craft, we would love to hear from you. We welcome newcomers to our friendly discussion! So glad you are here!! Please feel free to stop in and say hello!!

Ruth, I just checked out POL in denim, what a pretty color of medium blue. You are flying on this project, it’s going quickly. Hope it’s done soon so you can move onto your next project. Well, you are starting to sound like CJ and me….I do not think either of us really love the extremes. I have a neighbor who “loves” that 90+ degree weather. It’s miserable in my book. Anyway, hope that you can enjoy some moderate temperatures for awhile. without extreme cold and a lot of snow.
I didn’t get much done on the panel quilt last night. My lovesick cat kept sitting on the fabric as I tried to cut it and I know that he’s acting this way only because I’m out so much. I did end up getting some embroidery done. I figure this morning after my Shower that he will go take a nap and I’ll be able to get some good solid sometime in the end. And yes, I will post pictures of everything as I finish them. I’m not like CJ who manages to get a lot done in one day.
CJ hope you slept well!

Hello Hope you are both having a good day. It's in the 60s and cloudy here today. My house is cold inside, but I'm trying to hold off on turning on the furnace since we're supposed to get some days in the 70s this week. I cut the fabrics for the two monthly basket blocks this morning and those were a challenge. Lots of pieces that need to be cut diagonally and figuring out where I want to put the fabrics took some time. I hope to get them sewn together this week. After that I started making some of the sashing for Pat Sloan's Autumn Wonders quilt along, so I can get ahead of things and not have to put the whole quilt top together in November. I also ordered some fabric online that I was thinking might work for the second part of the Moda Blockheads quilt along that starts in January. Since I haven't been that happy with my fabrics I'm using now, I might change over. I'm sorry those pictures I post don't show the true color of the fabrics. The florals are more pink not orange. The blue fabrics are dark and light blues with some tans. The ones that show best is the print, purple and sky blue fabrics. I hope you get to do some crafting today too. Take care!

CJ- absolutely not your fault that the colors do not come through accurately! Some of it is internet, and the lighting can make colors look different. It’s just so neat that we can share our work in this format! From the looks of it, you did a lot of cutting yesterday Cutting, not necessarily my favorite part of the project. Do you mark or label pieces when you cut them in advance ? Hope it warms up enough for you so that you do not need your heat yet.. Who did you order fabric from? Just chatting….I know each of us has our favorite crafting outlets.
Ruth- looking forward to hearing from you when you can check in. Hope Dh and you slept well!!!
I have 2 cats. One who is gradually becoming more and more friendly, and I was shocked last nite to wake up and find her next to me. She is sweet- just very shy. My other cat, who frequently sits on the keyboard when I am typing, or my fabric when I want to cut it or even my sewing machine table when I am sewing….well he feels just fine and just wants a lot of attention. He is a very affectionate cat, also very emotionally savvy. I love them both for their different personalitie.
I got the border assembled and started on the corner blocks. I forgot that the directions are not the best and struggled to get the corner blocks assembled. So I put the project aside and will return later on. I do remember that I succeeded last time by following the schematic diagram of the corner blocks instead of the written directions. If I was smart I would write out my own directions, and keep them with the pattern for the next time.

Hello It's a bit warmer here today and sunny. But my house was still cold inside and I decided to go ahead and turn on the heat. I figured it was better to find out now if my furnace was going to work instead of when I really needed Also, I'm tired of being cold all night. I went out this morning for errands and shopping so I didn't do any quilting today. I did finally decide on the fabrics for my sashing for the Autumn Wonders quilt along. I tried out about 6 different combinations and I think I found one that works. So now I can start getting some of the blocks sashed while we are still making blocks. I hope both of you get to do some crafting today and that you're having good weather. Take care!

Good afternoon everyone. Ginny, your kitties remind me of a woman who has a crochet channel on youtube. She's called Sirin. Her kitties often jump onto the project she's working on and she stops for a couple minutes to give them some love. She also is a good videographer. Yes sometimes it's best to set things aside for awhile...put them in time out . The denim yarn is kind of heathery and it very nice when crocheted up. I really want to make myself a cardigan sweater and am thinking of using some of the remaining denim. That afghan is finished so I started the new one. CJ, I'm glad you were able to find a fabric combo that works for that quilt. Yes weather is nice today. It's close to 80 but Thurs, of course when we have to go out, it's to be high of 41 with rain and snow. I'm glad you were able to get your shopping and errands done. ok back to crocheting (I should be vacuuming but don't feel like it so I'll wait on that)

Aw, Ruth, housework is very patient, it almost always waits for you.. You will get to the vacuuming when necessary. Glad you got back to some crocheting.
CJ- that is wonderful that you have found fabrics that you are happy with for the Autumn Wonders quilt along! I cannot wait to see how you like the blocks that you get sashed….and I am exciting for you. This warmer weather ls nice, but the cool evenings are great for sleeping too.
I was able to get 2 corner blocks done last night before my feline assistant came in to help. It was late anyway and I felt it was probably best to put the machine aside.

Hello - Hope you are doing well today and having good weather. It's in the low 70s here and sunny, so a nice day. I'm glad I turned on the furnace, and took the chill out of the house. It helped me sleep better last night after being so cold the last few nights. Ginny - I'm glad you were able to get some crafting done. The place I bought some fabric from is Jordan Fabrics. Ruth - The denim color yard sounds really nice, I hope you get to make yourself a cardigan sweater with it. This morning, I made my two version of Pat Sloan's weekly block pattern that came out today. My blocks are coming together pretty well. It's always hard to know how they'll look when they all go together. I also cut fabrics for the three version of the weekly Moda Blockheads pattern that came out today too. So I have those three blocks to make, along with the two basket blocks that I cut fabrics for on Monday. I'll get working on those five blocks tomorrow. Take care

Aw CJ- then it was absolutely the right thing to do, starting up the furnace so that the house is comfortable. It’s no fun if you are not comfortable when you sleep. So nice that you are pleased with the Pat Sloan blocks you made today!! Gee you were busy, working on the versions of the block head patterns You got a lot of fabric cut today….have fun putting the blocks together tomorrow.
I did get the panel quilt top pretty much put together- I have a slightly adjustment to make getting the corner block in place, but all in all it looks good. I am looking forward to getting the binding on it- the red binding should really make the panel look brighter in contrast to the panel and the border.
Ruth did you crochet or vacuum??

Ginny, I crochet again rather than vacuuming. Sounds like you're making a lot of progress on your panel quilt
CJ, as usual you got a lot done today.
This new afghan pattern I'm doing is a real yarn eater and also turns out that it's a time eater also. I made it pretty wide so each row takes time. It has row of cluster stitches with a row of crosses double crochets around the clusters.
It's cold here, rained most of the day and will be much colder tomorrow. I hope it doesn't rain or snow while we're out
See you tomorrow

CJ,what beautiful pictures. I have favorites but they are all wonderful and beautiful. I'm glad it was good weather there. Here it was cold and rained half the day and then it turned to snow.
We saw the eye doctor. I had told dh how thorough this doctor is and after seeing him dh agreed whole heartedly. He said, too, that he'd never had a doctor that thorough. The nice thing too is that this doctor doesn't hand you a new glasses prescriptions unless you really need it. Dh and I have both been to eye doctors that just automatically give you a new prescription even though they tell you that you're eyes haven't "changed much" It was snowing lightly mixes with rain when we went in and by the time we were done it was snowing fairly heavily and got even heavier. We had to stop at the grocery store to pick up prescriptions and it was filled with people that seemed to be stocking up because it was snowing. The snow stuck to the ground and trees.
Now we've been home for awhile, had something to eat and now I'll do some crocheting.

Gee, CJ you have been very very busy! Love the blocks..and that panel is so very pretty. Cannot wait to see what you decide to do with it! The basket blocks are so very cute….guess I need to add a pattern with basket blocks to my list of projects!
Ruth, i am so very glad to hear that your eye doctor was so through. (Have the same feeling about my own eye doctor). Eye sight is precious and important to protect. Did you get much snow?
Busy day yesterday….today is also a but busier than I like. I went to bad last night reminding myself that I had not stopped in to say hello- and decided to try to get some sleep which I needed badly. Slept ok last night and did get some embroidery done while I was in the doctors waiting room. (My physical went ok and my recent bloodwork was fine).
Looking forward to a weekend. G

Hello We had another sunny day here but it looks like the weekend will rainy and colder. Ruth - I'm glad your eye doctor's appointment went well and you have a good doctor. The grocery stores are crazy around here when they predict snow I hope you got all you needed at the store and you can stay home now. Ginny - Sorry to hear you are having busy days, hope the weekend is more restful . I'm glad that your physical went well and the bloodwork was fine. I was happy to make the basket blocks since I've always wanted to make a quilt of all baskets. Hope you can do that one day. Thanks for your kind words on my quilting blocks. It's fun to see them all come together near the end of a quilt along. And I've been able to use fabrics I've had just laying around. This morning I finished the next block for another quilt along and did some hand quilting. I hope to do more hand quilting this evening and that will get me 3/4th done around the medallion in the mini quilt I'm working on. Maybe I'll be able to get this piece done by the end of the month. Take care and have a good weekend!
