The news is saying Israel and Palestine may extend the cease fire to exchange more hostages. That's great, on the surface, but it makes me wonder of Hamas is just buying time for their arms dealers to get them more weapons My thoughts too. Needless to say, Hamas isn't trustworthy.

amyrs, sadly, I don't think we'll ever see true peace anywhere in that region. If one group isn't stirring discord, another will.

I don't think we'll ever see true peace anywhere in that region I agree. Most sources date the conflict from the creation of an official Israeli state. Going back in time, Jews occupied the area for over 1000 years, then dispersed. Palestinians occupied the area subsequently, also for over 1000 years.

DotRen, lani, I think the area was called Judea in the bible. My husband said (don't know if this is true or not) that it was called Judea and the Romans changed it to Palestine.

DotRen , lani , I think the area was called Judea in the bible. My husband said (don't know if this is true or not) that it was called Judea and the Romans changed it to Palestine. I just wikied Judea. Palestine was a geographical area. The word comes from an Egyptian word used about the Philistines around 1150 BC. The actual word "Palestine" was first used by the Greeks, 5th century BC. Judea comes from the Kingdom of Judah. Wiki just says it was used "in antiquity", so don't know the timeline for that. Biblical times, so you are right about that. I nerd out on this stuff.

In addition to however we may feel about the actual crime(s), it's the GOP hypocrisy that gets me every time. Always ranting about sexual/gender/LGBTQ+ issues.

The squeakiest wheels about being so anti LGBTQ+ tend to be the ones with the most skeletons in their closets. They want you to focus on how "bad" the LGBTQ+ community is so you don't look at the stuff going on in THEIR bedrooms!!

They are way too concerned about what goes on in other peoples bedrooms.
