There are plenty of days in which the closest we get to crafting is a visit here, so even if you have no time to craft, we would love to hear from you. And one of us is never going to buy a fat quarter bundle again! We welcome newcomers to our friendly discussion! So glad you are here!! Please feel free to stop in and say hello!!

Crisp and clear morning here… got a long day ahead as I am taking a meal over this evening to a family in my church that needs a hand (they have a new baby in the house). I started the meal last nite. Anyway, hope that I can at some point get some crafting in but doubt that will happen. Think the best I will be able to do is cut the last 48 2 1/2 inch blocks for the ditzy daisies.
Hope you slept well last night!

Good morning and happy new week. Ginny, I was just thinking yesterday about you making meals to take to people that have new babies and other reasons that a meal taken to them would be welcomed. The reason I thought of that is because I've made lasagna twice in the past couple weeks and it's something that people often make to take to others.I usually make my lasagna with pureed cottage cheese. I've heard that some people use bechamel sauce instead of that or ricotta but for the second lasagna I didn't have that cheese and didn't feel like making Bechamel so I used plain yogurt with seasonings in it. the usual egg, and surprisingly it is delicious. Tasted much better, too, on the next day. It sounds like you do, indeed, have a very busy day. I hope you can get to cutting those squares CJ, I bet you're busy already cutting and sewing and probably already have thoughts on your next quilt or QAL. Have a great day; I did start my next afghan and am using two shades of green. I love the colors together but I wish I had used a smaller hook but don't want to rip out what I have. Don't you just love all my run on sentences?

Hello It's sunny and in the 50s here, not bad weather. I never went outside this weekend since there was no mail delivery, so I guess I'll get outside today to pick up all the junk mail I get each day. Ginny - Hope the day isn't too tiring. It's very nice of you to make that meal for the family that needs help, I'm sure they will appreciate it. Did you show us the pattern for the Ditzy Daisy quilt? If so, I'm sorry I forgot. Hope you find time to make more of them. Ruth - Two shades of green in an afghan sounds pretty, I hope you enjoying making it. I finished a lot this morning with my quilting. I have all the borders (inner and outer) made for both versions of Pat Sloan's Autumn Wonders quilt from the quilt along, so they'll be ready to put together after the last block pattern comes out this Wednesday. For the Christmas version I'm doing my own layout and after multiple ideas, I finally decided to lay the blocks out in a Circle of Nine layout. There was a book with this pattern, but I just found the layout by searching it out and found a good one on Pinterest. I may use this layout for some of my Moda Blockheads blocks. After I finished the borders I pieced the fabrics for that larger Christmas block that looks like it's interwoven. Then I pressed them all and cut them, so I'm ready to piece the other 8 blocks for this quilt. Take care and have a good day!

Ruth, I am not a big fan of ricotta cheese (what is the big deal with cannolis anyway, stuffed with sweetened ricotta?) and have happily used small curd cottage cheese in the past. Not a fan of cottage cheese either, but it works well. And Bechamel sauce, never thought about of using that!!! Think all lasagna tastes better the next day, right? Your new afghan sounds pretty, 2 different shades of green. Hope that the pattern is easy to work with. And run on sentences?? Gee that opening statement I put together is one LONG run on sentence; my grammar is usually off here and I misspell a lot. But we are all friends here and are just here for the friendship and comraderie!!! CJ- hats off to you for finding on Pinterest a layout that is pleasing to your eye…I hope that you love putting the quilt together and are very pleased with the finished product. It’s a great idea that you are doing what you want with your blocks, so that you can showcase your pretty blocks the way YOU like!!! DSIL came home a tiny bit early so I got the meal cooked and delivered to the family at church. DD#2 lost her power this am (cold morning for that!) so she came over this am so she and the kids would be warm. Their power was restored by mid morning, but it was 21 degrees here this am. www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-8Rxd87ygoThink that is the youtube link for the Totally tulips pattern I am using. Just look at the picture of the quilt Jenny Doan is making the top of it is tulips and the bottom are the ditzy daisies. Last nite I found a fabric that was in neither of the other 2 charm packs, so I will be using at least a piece of it in one ditzy daisy. LOVE this fabric line. See ya tomorrow

I'm sitting here watching the football game, crocheting, and now writing on here.
Ginny, having power go out when it's only 21 degrees is definitely bad especially when you havea a new baby so it's great that you live near enough that they had someplace to go to be warm. I looked at that video and like that quilt. The daisies don't look a lot like daisies but they're nice. I'm glad your sil came home early which gave you a chance to go and take the food to those you made it for.
CJ, I'm happy to hear that you found a layout you really liked to put together your quilt. We're so fortunate to have the internet now where we can find all kinds of patterns, directions etc. I hope it turns out so that you really love it and I bet it will.
Well I did start over on the afghan with the smaller hook and also watched the video again to clarify some of the stitches. The person who made the video does one of the main stitches she uses a lot different than the usual way it's done. I've found that many people in Europe do not make some stitches the way we do or people in the UK do. The afghan looks a lot better with the smaller hook. I have to admit too that I wasn't paying attention the first time I watched and put two of the stitches in the wrong place which didn't really make any noticeable difference but I like to keep it the way it's supposed to be.

Good morning, Well, woke up this morning to see a text that DD decided to stay home today because DGS#2 (the little fellow I babysit for) has a sore throat and she was staying home. Went back to bed (or never got out of bed!!) and slept in another 2 hours.
Ruth, gee, I am surprised that you decided to rip out the piece of afghan you started with a larger hook….but am very glad that you did if you are so pleased with how its turning out!! You find the neatest projects on the internet, and it seems as though a lot are youtubes from other countries. Guess it’s naive to think that all crocheters use the same terminology for a particular stitch. Great credit to you for enduring and figuring out what information you need and finding nice patterns. Is this afghan using yarn from that amazing yarninspirations collection that you just got? I am wondering if you made it through to the end of the football game last night (which I did not watch a minute of). As the Bills lost, well you might not be very pleased with that outcome.
CJ- are you working on your circle of nine layout today? Do you have all the fabrics figured out for the Christmas version of that? It looks hard, but then I have found in quilt land, that almost anything can be made by reorienting a square…. Hope you will have fun making this!
I hope to get a walk in later on and then back to work on the baby quilt.

Hello my friends. I've been busy cooking and baking although actually my dh made soup which is now simmering on the stove and I mixed up a carrot cake which is in the oven so no crocheting yet
Ginny, well it's nice to have an unexpected day off but not so great that it's because the little fellow has a sore throat. I hope he's well soon and will be praying. I hope you can get to do some work on the quilt. No it's not the Yarnspiration yarn that I'm using. I'm trying to use up my Herrschnerr's worsted 8 and 12 yarn which feels kinda scratchy and firm on the skein but while working on it it's nice and soft and gets even softer after being washed. The yarn I got from Yarnspirations is all pinks with mixed pinks with other colors aka variegated so I'm not sure what I'll make with it but probably a baby blanket.
Years ago I used to use ricotta in lasagna when I could get it at a decent price but then found that pureed cottage cheese works great and have used that since. I've never used a Bechamel sauce. I do make a nice cheese sauce that I use for au gratin potatoes and mac and cheese so could use that in lasagna too. Nowdays we improvise.
CJ, that ring of squares sounds interesting. I'm looking forward to seeing it. I hope you're having a good day and enjoying what you're making today.

Ruth, a while box of pink yarns sounds lovely- especially with a lot of granddaughters and a young little one too!! A baby blanket is a wonderful idea and i am sure You will find the perfect pattern to make with that yarn. Nothing better than a good soup in winter- and DH will surely love that carrot cake. Do you put a cream cheese frosting on it? Yes, a good thing to improvise, between prices and availability of some items. When my family was young I learned to make do without a lot, between tough finances or that its tough to take kids to the store. Guess over time we all become good at that.
I got busy cutting the background fabric for the snowballing for the ditzy daisys. Then I pricked my finger, and blood does not look good on white fabric. Taking a break from that until I am sure the finger is ok to work with again, Think I will finish my vacuuming and see how it is then.
Ds has to work another double, so he is driving back and forth from work at late hours- prayers for his safety are appreciated.
CJ- how is your day going? Have you been able to locate all the pumpkin spice flavored foods you like this fall?

Hello Ginny - I'm glad you were able to sleep an extra few hours this morning. Sorry about the pi prick, hope your finger will be O.K. and you get back to making the ditzy daisies. Thanks for the YouTube link, those are cute flowers. I'll hope that your DS has safe travels to and from work. I have found the Special K Pumpkin Spice cereal and I've been enjoying it. I bought several boxes so it would last over the winter. I bought one box of Pumpkin Spice Frosted Mini-Wheats. They are good, but I like the Special K better. I do miss getting a pumpkin roll this time of year, but I haven't been to the Amish Market since before covid. Ruth - Hope you enjoy the soup and the cake. The pink yarn sounds pretty. I agree with you about being fortunate to have the internet. There are so many great patterns and videos out there. I'm glad you were able to start over with a smaller hook. I have an unfinished project that I wished I'd used a smaller hook on, but it's too far along at this point. It was a pretty day here, sunny and around 60. I had to go out and do some shopping and errands, so I didn't get to do anything with my quilting. Take care

Ginny, I stopped and prayed for safe travel for your ds. It's not easy to travel long distances esp in the winter. Sorry about your finger. Were you able to get the blood off the fabric without it leaving a stain or hadn't it landed on the fabric? The football game was interesting. One reason is because I'm from the Buffalo area as you know but living here now we're supposed to support our "local team" which is the Broncos even though Denver if over 300 miles away. Still when it comes to Bills and Broncos, I'm a Bill's fan. Bills played another terrible game and the Broncos for once played well. The Bills actually won until the officials noticed that the Bills had too many players on the field which gave the Broncos another try for the field goal they had just missed.
CJ, were you able to get all your shopping done for Thanksgiving week. Dh and I are going out this week to avoid Thanksgiving food shopping crowds. I saw some pumpkin spice cereal when I was out shopping last but I think it may have been Cherrios. I do like Frosted mini Wheats but rarely eat cold cereal. I do like pumpkin spice flavor in foods and beverages. Now that your shopping and errands have been done you have the rest of the week to quilt. I need to look up the long stitching you mentioned. I haven't heard of it so am curious.

Good morning, Ruth how did that soup that Dh was making turn out? That stinks that the Bills lost to the “Local” team- I forgot that Denver was the NFL team closest to you. I think it is very common for individuals to continue to support a team from where they used to live. Think my Florida cousins support local baseball teams but when push comes to shove are still NY Yankee fans. Sorry you had to endure such a close game only to lose.
CJ- glad you have been able to stock up on your pumpkin spice cereal, especially Special K. Its rough when they make a seasonal flavor and you can only find it during short times of the year. I wonder if you can find a recipe to replicate the pumpkin roll at the Amish Market? perhaps you and your sister in law will take a trip there in the future. Congrats on getting those errands done. It’s going to be more and more difficult to get errands done in the next few days.
Thanks- my finger is great now…..and no fabric got any blood on it. Errands for me this am.. will bbl..and thanks for the prayers for my son. I will be happy and thankful when he walks in the door this afternoon around 4. So tough after a double shift.

Good morning Ginny and CJ. I hope you both have a great day. Ginny getting those errands done is a good idea. Unlike CJ or me I'm sure you have a lot to do to get ready for various holidays. It does sound like CJ is going to do some decorating this year for CHristmas by putting out her Christmas pillows and tablerunner.
I was wrong about the yarn. None of it's variegated. I had just looked at it quickly and then yesterday after I mentioned it I looked again (It's still in the box it came in). There are three skeins of six different colors. It's Caron simply soft and the colors are light country peach, persimmon, soft pink, Victorian rose, white, and gold. I'm not sure that gold is going to play well with the other colors if used in the same item. I think I'd add a grey instead...if I had a grey in that brand which I don't.I did ask in their fb group if that collection was intended for a specific pattern but didn't really get an answer. All that I got was that there were several patterns on the Daisy Farm Crafts blog that use CSS which I already knew.

Yes!! I too am hoping that CJ puts out and enjoys some of the pretty projects she has been working on. Even if it’s only a few items some holiday cheer can brighten a home…although I know some people are fine without decorating for special occasions. It’s all individual choice, that is for sure.
Ruth, are you disappointed that none of the yarn is variegated? The gold might work well with the peach and persimmon - and I think I agree that a nice grey would be awfully pretty with the pinks, rose and white. With your eye for yarn and pattern I am confident that you will find a pretty pattern or two to use up your new yarn. Does the Daisy farm crafts blog have any ideas that inspire you?
Ds made it home , which I am very very thankful for. It sounds as though it was a very rough day for him to get through.
Probably will not craft today….but I will load the dishwasher, bring in the bird feeder and watch some news (for as long as I can stand it) Ginny

Hello - Hope you are both doing well today and having nice weather We have temps in the 60s today and sunny. Ginny - I'm glad to hear your DS made it home safely, hope he can get some rest before he has to work again. I'm also glad to hear your finger is alright. Hope you can get back to your quilt. Ruth - Those yarn colors sound beautiful together, I hope you enjoy using them. I didn't do any special Thanksgiving food shopping but I did get what I needed for several weeks, so I don't need to go to the grocery store next week - when it's usually crazy I haven't been able to do any quilting for several days. I have a lot of things going on in my life right now, and I have to put quilting aside (for the most part) to get the other things done. I do hope I can get the Autumn Wonders (Fall Version) top together over the next few days. The Christmas version may just have to wait a bit, as well as those three sets of Moda Blockheads blocks. Just in case I don't post each day, it's because I've been busy with stuff and don't really have anything to talk about. But I will try to check in each day to see how you both are. Take care and have a good day!
