Day 25 – Identify Sabotaging Thoughts
Take some time and make a list of sabotaging thoughts you have had about staying on plan. There is a list of them on page 193 of the book. Here are a few of them:
I don’t care.
I’m not going to let anyone tell me what I can and can’t eat.
I deserve to eat this.
I’m really hungry.
I have no willpower.
I’ll make up for it later.
I’m treating myself.
I’ll end up eating it eventually.
Share the sabotaging thoughts you’ve had about staying on plan.

My biggest one is: I've gotten away with overeating before, I'll get away with it this time too. Others are: I'm hungry and need to eat now, I need to eat this up, It is a special occasion, and I hardly ever get to eat this.

Currently:
* I am tired of counting, tracking, weighing and measuring - I need a break
* As long as I don't let a slip become a slide - I will be okay
* I am not at my intended goal weight (yet) but am so much better off where I am than where I was that maybe this is where I should stay/maintain on the scale.

I can carry more weight than people think. Yeah, how'd that work out for you lady?

Lately it’s: I’m just going to have a couple crackers that my husband left here on the counter but I have to stop and 1) sit down 2) slow down and 3) decide if I’m really hungry and track if yes.

My current biggest ones -
- Dieting is too hard - It's ok to eat this - I can't resist - I really want it - I'm really hungry
Beck suggests to keep a notebook of sabotaging thoughts as they come up. Since I'm keeping a journal now anyway of my hunger/satiation, and what I'm eating and when, I may try adding this in.

I don't care is my biggest one. I often find myself saying that when I want to snack at night.
