November 27
Cyber Monday
This is the day I will actually observe! I do most of my shopping online, so on Cyber Monday this year, I will visit the Walmart, Amazon, JC P and Wayfair. I don’t know if I will buy much of anything, but I’ll do some looking.
Lucy, I am so glad you won't be camping in the cold! I'm not sure how I got that notion, but I dreaded the idea for you. I have slept (?) in as tent when it was cold. No fun.
Good night. Hugs!
Diane

I do remember having one of those that got pulled out to wear on my coat during the holidays. Don’t know what happened to it but these days I hardly wear a coat and the coat I do have one of them just would not look right.
I did not go to Mass yesterday as I was worried that the sidewalk might be too slippery and Fred suggested I just stay home. He did go and said not many showed up so then I didn’t feel bad about not going.
Our streets were pretty clear by the afternoon so I’m sure my eye appointment will not be cancelled. I was even able to get to Aldi’s and get everything I needed. But the number one item was coffee. I’ve never actually run out before!
Debbie said she feels better but is still testing positive for Covid so just laying low. My sister flew home Saturday morning from Kansas just as the big snow was starting there. They ended up getting 8”. She said it was going to be in low 70’s at home so I know she was glad to finally be there. But a very bad thing was since she was still feeling pretty awful with her head cold she went ahead and tested and she was positive for Covid! But she left here last Tuesday so it’s been 7 days since she was here and ten days since we were around Debbie so I think we’re going to be okay. Fred and I still feel fine. If we start having symptoms then we will get tested as our doctor told us last time we were exposed to Covid not to test unless we had symptoms as there’s too many false positives. And no we have not had any more boosters since the first one.
So this morning I have my eye injection and depending on how it feels after I might go with Fred to do some errands he wants to run. If my eye bothers me then I’ll just come home.

Good morning. Sandy, glad you were able to stay home from mass. We only got about a half inch of snow but this morning it's very cold with a temp of 12 according to my phone. Won't be going out much today and probably not tomorrow either. Suppose to warm up a bit by the end of the week. Have an appt tomorrow for an oil change but may cancel it if it stays so cold.
Lynda and Sean came yesterday with a Christmas tree for me. They had 2 and only used one. It's about 7 feet high but has a problem with the top lights. My neighbor said she thinks she has lights that will match and I have some ornaments so will match the ones on it.
Talked with Brian last night and he has made the decision to retire when his contract is up in July. He talked with his sons over the weekend and they agree that it's a good thing as long as he's financially able to do so. I think he will probably get into a job like in a lumber or woodworking type store. That is what he would like to do. Less stress for him. He has been in education for 30+ years and is ready to do something else. I just want him to be happy. I hope he decides to move closer to me his brother and sister.
No plans for today. Have a pair of pants to shorten for Sean so may work on that.
bettyj Good morning Phyl and Debby. Love you

Sorry, I have been missing with no explanation. I am good just in a really bad place and was sticking to just myself. Not sure is that is good idea or not. probably not!!
So I have my own water well and I had come home on Saturday morning to a very small stream of water out of the faucet. Got worse and even though the submersible pump was working it just came on for a second or two. ( not right) sure you can imagine how expensive this could be. I did an email with the well people that I have used before to tell them what was happening. In meantime no showers etc. I did get water from my neighbor in a large jug for coffee etc. and I could flush the toilet it just took forever for the tank to fill back up. I did freak out a bit thinking probably would need new well or go deeper either one which is a fortune. The well people were so helpful and did have a young man come today. ( the owner's son) Several things wrong but working fine for now. Not sure what the cost will be as they will send a bill and know how reliable they are . I asked him and he is going to send an estimate of what new equipment like mine will cost , just to give me a head's up. He said equipment getting old and he is right!! So will limp along until the next time. I honestly don't understand it very well but he did explain each thing as he went along. My DSIL will know what happened when I tell him . as he used to work for a company. But he would not have the equipment to take care of it. We will talk about it so he will not think I am being robbed and I know I am not. I asked the young man if he liked the well business and he said he did, kind of grew up with it and did go to school for it plus Dad and Mom both teaching him.
I am sure I will be able to sleep tonight, and not sure why all this stuff happens on weekends.
I remember those corsages for the holiday. Remember the Easter ones as well. Now I do just earrings just for the holiday, have candy canes and tiny Christmas trees. I miss the brooches my Mom use to wear on her coat. I did keep a few and my DGD wanted some and she puts them on her purses. Just her thing.
Diane, you have done a great job this month. and Betty so nice of you to take December. that is a busy month for everyone and thank you much!!!
I am thinking of a name for myself for December.
In meantime. a new baby was born on Thanksgiving Day in N. Carolina her water broke in morning but they ended up doing Caesarean. Mommy and Baby dong fine, 7lbs and 5 ounces. no name yet. Sure they have one but we are still waiting, not sure why and didn't ask. Charlie's picture with the new baby is adorable. I also think my DGD who lives in W Va is preg. she is not saying yet but both me and my DD think so. So maybe Great Grandbaby number 7 is on the way as well. We did go to the Christmas Tree lane and went through twice , it was beautiful and both kids, Emma and Elias wanted to do it again. And saw so much more the 2nd time and was glad we did/ the kitchen set up for Christmas was especially beautiful and couldn't see everything at the first viewing. I got my DGD"s Mistletoe and she just wanted on live sprig as her ceilings in the new house are high and only has on door way to hang it on. It is usually my early christmas present to them. So yes Thanksgiving was fun and good food and good company.
We had snow this morning early but it is gone except for a few more flurries and it is sticking on the front porch railing. Not going anywhere for couple of days anyway. It is 30° and good temp for getting more snow.

Yes, Diane, you have done a great job.
I used to wear pins when I was teaching. I had one for every occasion and some that were just teachers pins.
I've been getting good sleep lately. I think it is the cold weather. My electric mattress pad and blanket feel so good đź‘Ť.
2 of the 4 thanksgiving pounds are gone. They were fluid retention. No one at the Saturday dinner has to watch sodium. Now I have to get rid of the other two before Christmas.
Gym class today so gotta get up from here and get dressed. Have a great day all.

Hi!
Thank you, again, Betty, for taking December. I like the name you suggested as well. The lights of the holidays add so much.
I remember those corsages very well. I also had them for all seasons, and changed them out as the holiday changed. I had earrings and pendants for each holiday, too. I'm sorry to say I don't wear much jewelry anymore. My knuckles are so big I can't get the rings on. I cannot hold on to an earring to put it in. Woe is me!
Our temp was 25Âş this morning. I'm very glad not to have to go anywhere. The beans and cornbread tasted yummy last night. Tomorrow I'll bake pot pies with the leftover turkey and this evening, we'll have the last bit of ham for dinner .
Now I'll do a grocery order for delivery tomorrow if I can remember what we need. That is always a question. Does that count as Cyber Monday shopping? LOL
Connie, you were missed. You matter to us.
Hope your day is kind to you! Diane

Yes, Connie was missed. Diane, I loved the tent camping in my younger days. I have a little Casita. They don't make the 13ft any more. 15 ft is the smallest now. I have set up the inside just for me and Bearly. No upper bunk. The bottom is my couch. I have pillows for the back. The dining table is never set up. I have my twin mattress there. I never have used the burners so I have a cover for them so it is more cabinet space. Over the fridge is a cabinet. My microwave is there then the cabinet above that is where I keep my coffee and coffee pot. There is storage under the bed. The a/c is there and a cabinet where I keep the porta potty.

Glad to see you back, Connie. Hope well will limp along fine. congrats on new baby.
Sandy, seems like COVID is everywhere again.grateful for the new meds and vaccines to keep it from killing people so easily.
We always had those corsages on our coats in winter. I still have a couple huge old silver brooches grandma wore on hers.
Betty, 12 degrees is nasty. I remember walking to school when it got to 16 or lower. The mucous in your nose froze! About 15 minutes after we all got into our classrooms, all you heard was snuggling as it thawed.
Sympathize with Brian. After 37 years in a high school classroom, I was glad to be out. It got harder the last five years. People I know still teaching wish they could retire these days.
Did my unexpected cyber shopping last night when DH suddenly decided he wanted to go back to wearing a watch! Grateful for Amazon. Decent price on what he wanted and Macy's and Dillards had it for 200 more! Boy, those prices sure went up.
While everyone is home or at work after a long holiday, I will grit teeth and find a new bra. Between losing, gaining, losing and gaining plus age, body is different.
Tree is converted to Xmas. Took a lot out of me.
glad Minni does not like to meet other dogs because of that flu thing killing dogs now that has vets stumped. It was mainly NE, but I saw it us in Cal and Col. Now. Snow birds will bring their pets and diseases to us.

Another sunny day here so I guess I'll have to start the watering again -- ugh! Connie we have a well here also and have a great well man too but so far no probs with it recently. It was over 10 yrs. ago we had quite a bit of work done there. Our nabors and we have a mutual valve so if we don't have water we can switch over to their water and visa versa. It would be horrid if horses couldn't get water for sure. Next door is another horse ranch.
I just found out that when I took the dog and cat to the vet to get shots that Shana didn't get hers. She had the scratch next to her eye and he fixed that with antibiotics BUT doesn't look like she had her scheduled shots so I might have to take her back there. Last time I took Jim with me and the a/c turned off in the car and he couldn't start the car again (with no legs) and had a hard time with the heat. It is not as hot now but I really am afraid to take him with me again so will probably have to pay $40 per hour for someone to watch him.
See you all later for tuck in.
Grateful for our Group Kathie

Kathie, Call your Vet before you go, they should have records of shots for Shana. I checked my records and last time they were here was 2006. So been a good run. Not sure how old the rest of this stuff is , was here when I moved in here 2001. Did get the new submersible pump in 2006. Old house but still in good shape. Now to keep the water system that way.
We don't have snow on ground or road but have had flurries off and all day. More like regular snow this evening so will see how it looks tomorrow.
I am off to fix Schwan's garlic shrimp on skewer . One of their dinners that is done in oven. some can be oven or microwave. Maybe some green beans with it. Just beans nothing fancy.
I am out of bread so will have to get some so I can have a left over ham sandwich for lunch tomorrow.
