Day 39 – Keep Up with Exercise
We all know this is important.
Here are some suggestions from Beck on how to get yourself to exercise or get yourself to increase your exercise:
Focus on how you will feel when you finish exercising.
Put exercising in a NO Choice category.
Meet a friend or trainer.
Give yourself lots of credit.
Focus on your progress.
End your sessions with something positive.
Make sure you are doing a type of exercise you like.
How are you doing with getting yourself to exercise?
If you are exercising, why do you exercise?

I'm currently doing exercises to strengthen my muscles and a little for aerobic capability. I feel good when I'm doing them and after I've done them.

Not exercising at the moment...do think about it...just don't do it.

I exercise daily. It’s became a habit since my college days in the 70’s when I lost weight with diet and Elaine Powers fitness centers for women. I’ve found that there’s always a 10 minute window when I can do some sort of intentional activity. It makes my mind feel good and it keeps my clothes fitting well. For a while, and it was walking exclusively lately I found a member on the WW boards who posts a set of Advanced and Modified, exercises daily and I’m able to do a set in less than 10 minutes. I do more, if I’m up to it. 😊

I have been struggling with hip pain for a while now. I don't know what causes it but both sitting and standing make it worse. Walking doesn't so I've only been walking and doing very gentle stretches and some deep massage with a ball because the problem seems to be with my hip flexor muscles.
Unfortunately, walking doesn't make me feel as good as other exercises. I'm hoping to add in yoga to see if it helps or hurts.
This week we had a few days of warmer weather so I cleaned up the yard. I have spring allergies and so clean up now is better than in March/April when things start blooming. I have discovered that I can't do exercise and yard work on the same day. I used to be able to but my body isn't recovering as fast as it used to so I have to pace myself more.
But exercise is a part of my life now - whether it is spontaneous (I walk up and down stairs a lot), or planned.

I'm sticking to my exercise schedule of many years as much as I can. It's 3 days of weight lifting and 3 days of running either outside or on the treadmill each week. If I can and I'm not too worn out from this, I do stretching and some body weight strengthening on the 7th day, but I haven't been getting to that as often as I'd like.
I also continue to park far from store entrances and take stairs as much as I can - spontaneous exercise. I'm trying to remember to get up and move frequently throughout the day instead of just sitting.

OMG, I forgot about her! I used to do the Jane Fonda videos back in the day. I've been physically active as long as I can remember, tennis, skiing, horseback riding. I remember as a child, none of the neighborhood kids walked anywhere, we always ran because we were in a hurry to get there. I no longer do any of those but I've always enjoyed moving my body. I started intentionally exercising in my late teens to address particular body parts that I thought needed improvement, mostly out of fear that my body would go the way of my mom's. She was always slim, but had a round belly, hello, two children. But I thought it would be a fate worse than death (only slightly exaggerating) so I've been after the abs since. Since I've never given birth, my abs remain in shape. Currently my goal is to walk 1/2 hour a day, six days a week, with hand weights; 1/2 hour mini-trampoline one day a week; body weight strength, flexibility and balance work morning and evening. I have not missed the body weight sessions in years, unless I'm extremely ill. I continue to be driven by vanity, but physical function and injury prevention are actually more important at this age.

I still have Jane Fonda VHS tapes I think.... Or maybe I donated them to a town yard sale. I had s step until recently when I gave it to someone I know who needed it for his sciatica exercises

I have returned to 2 days of strength training and try and spin a couple of days. Walking when it’s not pouring rain. Some stretching and core.
