Day 40 – Enrich Your Life
The main thrust of this chapter is to not to put your life on hold while you lose weight but for you to go out and enjoy life now, the idea being that if you are out enjoying yourself your mood lifts and you have more energy and enthusiasm for weight loss.
Do you have anything new and different coming up in your life?
What things do you do outside of managing your weight and getting fit that enrich your life?

I don't do much outside of managing my weight and working on getting fit. I do read up on archeology and history. We have our concerts with the Berlin Philharmonic, but that's about it.

I am quite busy almost all the time. I work in my yard/garden. I am currently converting my annual flowers bed to a dye garden - so planting dye plants, some of which will reseed themselves and some that are perennial. I also spin yarn, weave and knit. My output goes to my family (not so much any more), but mainly these days to fundraisers. I give a couple of items to be raffled off at a friend's concerts to raise money for a soup kitchen/homeless shelter. I also do artists' displays at two libraries and people can 'buy' the items on display with a donation to the library.
I also read (mostly non fiction these days) and cook (I like trying new recipes) and watch videos - mostly on my hobbies.
I'm an amateur photographer - I take photos around my garden and house and also when we travel.
Sometimes I wish I had more hours in the day! Or that I needed to sleep less.

I am a constant reader, fiction, mostly mysteries, also books on buddhist meditation, communication skills, I guess you would call them self-help?
We have younger friends that we struggle (somewhat) to keep up with. We have started traveling a lot. We went on two cruises this year. We have been going out to dinner more, and having people over more. We just stayed overnight in San Francisco with two friends at the Mark Hopkins. Three friends will be spending the night at our house on the 16th. Mr. Lani and I will spend the Christmas night (staying over) at our dear friend's house.
Next year in March we are going to NYC to visit a friend (4 days), fancy dinner party with 10 to celebrate 40 year anniversary in April. Going to Maui in May (southern area) for 10 days with another couple. 10 day cruise with friends in September.
We lost a couple of close friends in October and that has really spurred us to spend more time with those we care about. Also, we are healthy enough to do these things, and who knows how long that will be the case.

We’d also like to visit those near and dear to us, and would like to travel while we are healthy. Being in nature is also important.

I've never put my life on hold because of weight issues. I'm engaged in various things, sometimes I'm more engaged, sometimes less, but slow times aren't because of my weight. I will say though that weight management takes up a huge amount of my mental and emotional energy. It's really not how I want it to be.
