Good morning and Happy Monday!
All crafters are welcome here as we discuss crafting, life and our weight loss journey. Crafting includes actual hands on crafting, such as crochetting, knitting, sewing, quilting, needlepoint, painting, jewelry making, etc.....plus reading craft catalogs, craft blogs, watching craft you tubes or other crafting videos, chatting here about crafting, chatting with another person about crafting, playing a musical instrument, reading craft emails, thinking about crafting, organizing crafting supplies, going into craft stores or the craft aisle in a store ,researching a new quilt shop, attending craft fairs,or any other activity that inspires or directs your mind toward a crafting activity- even visiting us here to join in our posts!! There are plenty of days in which the closest we get to crafting is a visit here, so even if you have no time to craft, we would love to hear from you. And one of us is never going to buy a fat quarter bundle again! We welcome newcomers to our friendly discussion! So glad you are here!! Please feel free to stop in and say hello!!

Brutal getting out of bed this morning…but another week begins. It was quiet here yesterday, and I hope that you both got so crafting time in yesterday!! It rained hard here last night, and continues to rain lightly now. Think the rain is supposed to be over within a few hours.
See ya later!

Good Morning - Hope you both had a nice weekend with good weather. I woke up to a wet snow on the ground and cars this morning. Fortunately the roads were too warm for it to stick. Ginny - Hope this week is less busy for you, but I'm guessing with the holiday coming it's pretty hectic. You're getting the rain we got yesterday, hope it's not too bad. Ruth - Hope you have made some progress on your DH's blanket. I finished the quilt top for the A Quilting Life BOM quilt along on Saturday and hope to get a picture of it taken today. I'm happy with how it came out. I did slice the side of my finger with the scissors though and thought I'd never stop bleeding It's going to be a busy week, so I don't know if I'll get to any more quilting, just have to see. I hope you both get to do some crafting this week. Take care and have a good day!

I was going to post a message last night but thought probably no one would see it with the new week starting. Ginny, I hope the rain does stop. I'm sure you're very adept at driving in all weather conditions so this probably is not a great problem to you. It rains so seldom here that when it does I can't see well to drive. It sure does sound like your Friday was extremely busy and Saturday too. I don't know how you do all that you do. I know it was great to see your dd and know she's feeling better now that her illness has passed. CJ, I'm glad you were able to complete that quilt and that you like it a lot. Again, sure wish there was a way that we could help you with this work you have to get done. Funny thing, I mentioned that two of my Indy grandchildren asked if I could make them hats. Well now my 9 year old dgs has asked me if I could make him a Christmas tree skirt like I made his parents. I laughed and so did my dh. What does a nine year old boy need a large Christmas tree skirt for . He's an awesome little boy so, of course, I'm going to make him one but I did email back to ask him what size he wanted it to be.They're at the homeschool coop today so I won't find out until tomorrow. I'm anxious to hear what he's going to do with it. My dh and I were discussing our plans for the future so now our moving date which got completely changed because of the pandemic and now dh's upcoming surgeries, will be in August of 2025, Lord willing. So I have a LOT of work to do to decide what the keep and what to leave, throw away, give away, or donate. And then, of course , after decisions are made about that. I have to pack it all up.DH did give me a couple more things to add to the donate bags and boxes. He did tell me, though, that I can take all of my yarn. And for someone that doesn't sew anymore I have TONS of fabric even though I did donate some to the senior center where they have a quilting group. I have on huge bin full of fleece that I was going to make the older grandchildren blanket with when they were young. They are on in late 20's and early 30's.

Good evening,
Just for your info….when I start the new thread for the week I usually check back to the previous week and either reference it in the new week or make some notice that someone had posted late. Post anytime you feel like it!!!
Ruth, well having a game plan is a good thing, and how you have dates for your possible move. Will you find another place to live than your current property? The good thing about the move and a date is you have plenty of time to find places to donate the fabric to (if donation is what you choose to do). I wonder if your Ds’s church has a ladies or girls group who would be able to use that fabric, Or perhaps a local church where you are might be able to use it. Fleece is forgiving….easy to work with and I would think would be easy to donate also. Have fun making the second tree skirt, I remember you making the first one. I wonder what DGS will do with a tree skirt?
CJ- congrats on finishing the Quilting life quilt top!! You have been so busy recently - I figure it felt really really good to get back to your machine and complete that project. Yikes! You got snow out of that system? Glad it was warm and no need for you to clear the snow. Hope that all that you are doing which is keeping you so busy is going well and that you can settle into normal life again soon.
Got a dentist appointment shortly and then Bible study, so I am posting now. Unfortunately today I was most likely exposed to the really bad upper respiratory infection that DD#2 tried to keep away from me with…(I did not see her for 2 weeks) but now DGS#2 has what seems to be that infection and I was with him all day. I do pray that I do not get it- and have washed my hands more times than I thought possible in the course of the day.
It got cold here today! Considering that Saturday it was in the mid 50’s, now it’s barely 32 and windy. Welcome to winter.
See both of you tomorrow. G

Ginny I'll be praying also that you haven't won't come down with that URI. It sounds awful. Is the dentist app't a followup for your tooth extraction? I never did end up going to my dentist for the follow up. They cancelled my app't and asked me to call and make a new one which I did not do. As you know I wasn't happy with the way the did the extraction. We'll be staying in this house until we move to Indiana but with dh not being able to walk up the stairs even now without a lot of effort and pain I'm sure he won't be able to do it after the surgeries he's going to have so who knows really what we'll actually end up doing. I think he likes planning these things because it gives him something to think about other than surgery. He's never had surgery before

Hello Ruth - It's interesting that your DGS wants a Christmas Tree skirt. I'm sure you want to learn why. Hope if you do move in 2025 that all your decluttering goes well. I've been doing that and it's really difficult making all the decisions of what to keep and what to give away. Ginny - I sure hope you don't get sick. Hope your dental appointment went well. Here's my finished quilt top for the A Quilting Life BOM. I wish I'd made the friendship star cornerstones in green fabric, but I'm still happy with it. The border and sashing fabric has green in it, you just can't see it in the picture.

CJ, I don't know which is the friendship star and I'm sure not good with colors but the ones I see with non green cornerstones look great and I think the would look out of place with green. The whole thing works really well and is beautiful.

CJ- Nice job on the quilt!!!! Its beautiful, and I bet with all the decluttering and household chores you have had to keep up with that it felt wonderful to be able to sit at your machine and sew.
Ruth, no yesterdays appointment was a routine cleaning- of course the dentist was there to take a quick look at the extraction site (which seems to be fine). Guess my question was your living situation in Indiana- I know you have the property purchased a few years ago but was wondering if that would, eventually, become your full time residence. I am glad Dh is helping with the decluttering/downsizing, which is a daunting task when you have to take it on by yourself.
Got all my goodies all packed for DGS and his nasty cough….which I hope he does not have today. See ya later

Hello - Hope you both had a good day and nice weather. It's chilly here, but sunny. Ginny - I hope your DGS is feeling better and enjoyed the goodies you brought him. Ruth - Hope you've had time to crochet some things. Thanks for your kind words on my quilt. It's always hard to imagine how these mystery quilt along quilts will look when you are just making a block a month. Although I really enjoy some of these I think I might need to take a break from them next year and focus on other projects like kits I have, machine quilting, etc. I'll have to see how I feel in January. I probably won't be doing any quilting for the next several weeks. In a way, it's kind of nice to have a break, but sometimes I do miss it. Take care

Ginny I hope the little fellow is ok now. If you took him goodies I'm sure he was happy at least.
CJ I know I would and will miss crocheting if there comes a time when I can't get to it for awhile.I've given up some crochet time but not whole days
Ginny we're trying to plan what we'll put on the property to make it into a place we can live in permanently. We don't need a lot of living space especially since we have the very large pole barn to keep things in.
Today I've had a lot of crochet time but there are things I should have done and didn't. I set aside dh's blanket because I have a yarn order coming with a better second color plus I needed more anyway because each skein only has 81yards.So, anyway, I started working on the dgc's requests

Hello - Hope you have both had a good day and nice weather. It's still a bit chilly here, but nice and sunny. I wanted to tell you why I've been so busy so you'll know what's going on with me. I will be moving to a new place - a rental in a 55+ community. I'd been watching for a rental to come up in this area and when I saw the listing for this house I knew I had to take it and fortunately they accepted me. This had been my plan for years - get a rental so I could move out of my current house to get it ready for sale, so I'm happy it worked out. So the last month has just been crazy packing and dealing with all the "rental" things to do. And I still have a lot to do at my current house, but hopefully it will all get done soon. Then it will be everything with selling the house, but I have help from family with that. I think the rest of December will be very busy and I doubt I'll be doing any quilting, but hopefully I can get back to it in 2024. Take care

CJ- congratulations!!! That is awesome news and I am so very very happy for you!! We have known the struggles you have had with a roof, heater, landscaper…..etc… and this sounds like a wonderful opportunity for you. I am sure this will be a struggle for you to leave your house, but I pray that the community is an a safe location and will be just perfect for you. Is it sort of near family? When is moving day?
Ruth, yikes another yarn order! I am sure you have plans for the yarn and will have a hoot working with it. Did DGS ever tell you why he wanted another tree skirt?
Sorry my friends I am tired. Was out late both Monday and Tuesday…I did finish and I mean finish the pillow (all hand sewing done). on to quilting tomorrow.
CJ- just so happy for you….this sounds wonderful

Oh CJ, I'm so happy for you too!!!!! I know it will be difficult for you to leave the home you've lived in for so long and where you have great memories. You will be safer there and won't have all those maintenence costs and worries. Is the new place near where you live now? Is it near your family? I'm glad your family will be helping with selling of your house. My neighbor is moving and he had a LOT of people there helping him.. I don't even know that many people so anyway I hope you have lots of help. It will be fun setting up your new home and especially your quilting area. I always loved that part of moving..the organizing the new living space.
Ginny with all the things you do I can for sure understand that you would be very tired. I hope you can get some rest. I'm glad you got Jane's gift completed. One more thing you can cross off your list. No dgs hasn't replied to my email yet. Sometimes their computer time is limited by their parents.Yes I made sure the yarn I ordered would complement what I already have and I do have plans for it but this definitely has to be my last yarn order since I'd like to use up a good bit of it before 2025 and the move and seriously, you would not believe the amount and variety of yarn I have. I'm definitely a yarn hoarder
I spent some time cleaning today but also did a bit of crocheting and will do more during the rest of the evening.

Ruth brought up a great point, what a blessing it is that you have family to assist you with th move. I pray that this community you will be moving into has nice neighbors and perhaps even a crafting group of sorts. Just thinking of something that if you wanted to get out and do something, you would have that as a possibility. And yes, you are leaving behind a home that holds so many memories for you. But your memories are yours and no matter where you live cannot be taken from you. I hope that your new home to be has a great location to set up your sewing supplies, your new quilting home.
Ruth, sorry for being such a nag, but I think it’s just so sweet that DGS wants a tree skirt….cannot wait to hear his response!!! And yes, its not uncommon at all for kids to have limited computer access.. Glad you got such a great yarn deal- and well, you have a year to use it all up. Somehow I think you will be able to accomplish that. Congrats on getting some cleaning done….my house could use some cleaning help too! Ha ha ha
No crafting yesterday….but hoping that today is a much easier day. I do have practice this evening and one errand to run. Really want to get back to the baby quilt. See ya later!
