Day 42 – Practice, Practice, Practice
Beck congratulates you: You’ve learned the Cognitive Therapy skills you need to think like a thin person. She reminds you the longer you use them the more automatic they will become.
Describe some differences in your thinking from before you started to lose weight to now.

We still have chapter 11 and chapter 12 to do and then it is back to the regular routine.

With the help of the Beck strategies, I plan most of my eating ahead of time, I keep trigger foods out of the house, I check to see if I'm hungry and if I'm full, I talk to myself a lot when I need to modify my behavior, I track and weigh and measure.

Differences:
I know the points-calorie values of foods and use this food information to choose healthy balanced meals that are filling and on program.
I know I can lose weight and believe in myself. I stock items in the kitchen that makes it easy to prepare healthy melas I keep tempting higher point foods out of the house or limit how many come in ETC
I am gearing up to move from "maintain" to "lose" mode as soon as the last event this month is behind me.

Focusing on this round - I've been paying more attention to hunger/desire/craving, overcoming cravings, and preventing unplanned eating. I set a goal to journal these issues for 100 days, to help me practice eating when hungry and not eating when not hungry, and to help me practice more healthful eating.

When I first started being concerned about weight, I was an emotionally immature teenager, so the changes are too many to list! I'm another person now. But Beck was the finishing touch as far as tools that work for me. I just needed to be ready to apply them.

I think I’m Beckterms much of the time but not all of the time. I need to work on planning meals and sticking with them and vacations, holidays and retirement travel. Consistency will be my major goal moving forward.

Most of the day, I find the Beck strategies keep me in check. I no longer worry about hunger. I can tolerate it. I don't carry emergency food - except on plane trips. I focus on getting exercise in - spontaneous exercise was something I didn't think about before. Now I run up and down the stairs as often as I need to, I park further away from entrances and walk, etc.
What I am really going to continue to focus on after this review is my thinking - trying to label the desire to eat, trying to respond to sabotaging thoughts and trying to break my desire to snack late at night as a form of relaxation.
