Karen, thanks for the start. All Christmas shopping is done what little there was of it. Girlfriends and I decided to forego gifts. They have lots of grandchildren so they don’t need to buy for friends. I nave been procrastinating getting the shingles shots. Anthem covers CVS giving the shots but not the doctor’s office. Great to find a doc who is interested in the medicinal uses of plants and wants to be an MG. Did you get outside to run? The pizza dough recipe came from NY Times. Roberta’s pizza doughLinda, have you talked to your friend since she got home from rehab? I wish Iggy liked pierogis, because I love them. How did the casserole turn out? Look how pretty Minni looks! Is she a lot lighter in color than Micki was? Kathy, the sphere is very Christmasy. Someone on TwitterX wants to see the eye of Sauron on the Sphere. That would be cool! Nothing wrong with puttering. Have with the decorations. It was sunny this morning when we went out but the clouds are rolling in. We made a trip to the orchard. They still had the Gold Rush and Ludacrisp but no Melrose so we got Pink Lady. We stopped for coffee for me and went home. It is one of those rare days when I am cold. I might even make hot chocolate later.

Kathy, do you have Showtime? Apparently they have discontinued the Showtime Anytime app and we will have to pay more if we want to stream it through Paramount+. We still get it on Dish but it's not on-demand. We're talking about dropping our Dish movie package because we have gone to direct subscribe with Max, Starz, and most of the others. We already pay for Paramount+ so it makes no sense that it's not included there. That was pretty brazen of the CFP chair to say what he said in his letter. If the ACC is a Power 5 wannabe conference, how does he explain the 4 times since 2015 that Clemson, an ACC team, has played in the national championship game? And your Noles have also won the championship. Sounds like a justification for stupidity. Loved the festive Sphere. How's the decorating going at your house?
Minni seems to love being on the couch, Linda. Do you think she would use a ramp if you bought one and would there be room for one? I found a headrest seat belt like yours on Amazon and one of them came with the attachment that also clicks into the seat belt, which would give an extra layer of protection if we need it. Thanks for the recommendation.
Chele, are pierogis something you can get for yourself when he eats his meat? Thanks for the pizza dough recipe. You seem to be well stocked on apples. I think Dale may be planning to go to the orchard tomorrow. Did the coffee warm you up? Did you have your chocolate yet? The temperatures didn't warm up, so I opted for the rowing machine instead of a cold outdoor run.
Dale ran in Knoxville and stopped at Salsarita's. Since it will be too late for me to eat that for dinner tonight, we will save it for lunch tomorrow. It's going to be another rainy Sunday anyway. While he was gone, I did some laundry, baked a very large butternut squash that I will use instead of sweet potatoes for Arya's dinners, and made a batch of granola for me. It's a new recipe that turned out pretty well. I have a fabulous recipe I used to make frequently that has a lot of oil and sugar that I no longer eat. This one has sunflower seed butter instead of oil and maple syrup instead of sugar. I'll make it again, but next time I need to leave it in the oven a bit longer so it can be crunchier. I made soy yogurt over night, so I'll have yogurt with granola and fruit for breakfast tomorrow. I finally started watching season 6 of The Crown and just finished the episode with the crash in the tunnel. So unfortunate that Diana was hounded the way she was and that nothing concrete was done to stop the papparazzi. It didn't help that the chauffeur had been drinking. I wonder what she would be like if she were still alive.

Chele, someone said the sphere should do the death star from Star Wars too. I've been getting the Covid shots at Publix, so will probably do the same for the other vaccines. You sign up on their website and I've only had to wait a few minutes. No sun here! My avatar is our weather radar and you can't even see Florida! I think it's raining even harder now.
Karen, are you watching Appalachian State's bowl? It's just a couple of miles away from here, but looks like they're playing despite the weather. I don't have Showtime, but I have Starz through Amazon Prime's channels. It's cheaper than subscribing to Starz through my cable provider. I don't think Prime offers Showtime though. "So called Power 5" was trending on Twitter yesterday. I think the ACC bias is going to be trouble in the coming years too. There will be 12 teams in the playoffs, but the top four will get a bye week and the next four will get home field advantage for the first game. I was watching Saturday Night Live when they broke in for the news about Diana. I didn't think it was real at first. I wonder what she'd be like now too and how it would've affected her sons.
Linda, Minni looks very comfortable on the sofa!

Minni is gray in top and dark gray in tail but legs, tummy are white. Micki was quite black. I was surprised today that she was not in the sofa. I put her up with me for a while but she wanted to run to the window and bark. But later she easily sailed up and over my lap and took possession of the other half!
Pierogi casserole was quite good and Bob said it was best thing he had eaten in a couple weeks. I used whipped cream cheese instead of high density. Not much of it really if you make half the recipe.
in the stores Mrs.T's pierogies in frozen food are quite good and usually a variety of three kinds or more.easy to just boil a couple for yourself and sauté them with some onions. They can be a side instead of potatoes.
Back when we were following Cooking Light diet menus, they had a granola recipe with maple. I like it better than sugar.
First dog that ever talked back. This one is odd. Tell her no and once in a while you get a sharp bark of dissent! She was good while I fitted her no pull harness today (after I had to catch her)….sigh, only to find she needs a bigger size across the chest. So Bob took it back to Amazon along with a book you can drop off at Staples.getting next size although for me she has been pretty good. Other owner does not follow training instructions or have firm tine or use correct word commands, so she is giving him difficulty. Little imp.
Right knee will be ok a little bit finally today, them wham..deep aching up and down the outside or across the knee cap. I am past six month limit of shot relief and boy is this no fun. Sure hope it kicks in after two weeks as promised. Not real thrilled about other knee on Tuesday, but that one is not so unhappy, maybe not so bad a flare up with shot.

That rain seems to be going north. Anybody getting the storm?
Got desperate with knee pain spreading up and down the leg last night, worst flare up since 2016. I am not supposed to take Advil with tendency to diverticulitis, but three of them was what stopped that on dr. Advice back then. So I ate cottage cheese to coat GI lining and had a piece of buttered toast and two Advil and a Tylenol. Slept ten hours and so far it is a lot better.
hate when one condition messes up treatment for another, like no red meat with diverticulitis tendency , but red meat best for low iron problems. Dam….if you do and da…if you don't.
planning quiet day, a little desk work, a short slow dog walk later, leftovers for supper, book to finish.
Have a great Sunday.

Kathy, how much rain did you get? It didn't look good on this morning's weather map. I totally missed the App State game!! I thought it was either Monday or Tuesday this coming week. At least they won, but it must have been a messy game. I wonder how the NCAA chooses people to be on the CFP selection committee and if those members are bought and sold like our politicians are. Hope I'm just being cynical. Is next year when the CFP expands? With the break up of the PAC 12, those teams will have to align with a conference or risk the perils of being an independent. When Stanford joins the ACC, that will also change the balance in some sports but probably not in football. Prince William, as heir to the throne, seems to be more aligned with his father, but they portrayed him in The Crown as being close to his mother. But the one that I think was most affected was Harry, and I have to wonder how dramatically his life would have changed with Diana's influence. I can understand why seeing the announcement on SNL would have made you question its authenticity. I guess I need to check to see if I need an appointment to get my vaccines. The doc said just show up, but that could be a California thing.
Minni seems to be ambulating quite well, Linda, after her fall early in life. LOL on her talking back. Arya is the first one I've ever had that didn't. Sorry the harness didn't fit. Hopefuly the larger size will. Do you think the design will work well at least? Funny how they respond differently to each of you. Arya does the same with us. Glad the casserole was so good. I guess it will be a keeper. You probably used less cream cheese by using the whipped instead of the block. I think using maple syrup or another liquid sweetener instead of drier sugars makes the granola crispier. Did the doctor indicate how long it might take for the shot to kick in? Since it's a different one than you've had before, it may not respond the same way. WOW on 10 hours of sleep! Good for you. I wouldn't worry a whole lot about the no red meat thing. I haven't had red meat since 1990 and my iron-related blood work has always been fine. There are a lot of veggie sources of iron, like spinach (and actually a lot of other greens, too, but not lettuce), broccoli, sweet potatoes, green peas, lots of beans and lentils, and some fruits like dates and figs. It's also in oats. Many of those should also be good for your diverticulitis.
Chele, we haven't gotten a drop of rain yet. How about you? We do have a lot of clouds and were told to expect back-to-back cold fronts today and tomorrow. So much for being able to get outside to do some of the work I need to do before the new blackberries arrive. Maybe they won't send them until February and we'll have a little warm(er) and dry weather before then. Are Iggy's presents wrapped? Nothing has been wrapped here. No time yet. Can't believe we are one week from Christmas Eve!
Crazy day here because it was that once-every-couple-of-months day to cook the pilaf and veggies for Arya's dinners. We typically have all the frozen veggies bought in advance but that didn't happen this time, so Dale had to make a trip to the store and then I had to cook everything when he got home. He managed to find a lot of what we needed in steamable bags, so that saved a little time. We have enough in the freezer til February now. I also had workout clothes in the laundry and it's a bread baking day. I need 3 loaves to take to Osteo this week plus one for us. I did two of them today and will put them in the freezer to take out on Thursday and will freeze the other loaf on Wednesday after it's baked. We had our lunch from Salsarita's and I just sat down to rest a bit before I clean up the kitchen and start the first dishwasher load. I do have to put away the clean laundry and get ready to go to class tomorrow (last one for the year with Christmas and New Year's Day being on Mondays). Then I'll be ready to sit down and vegetate. I pulled the new avatar from a FB meme. Not sure if there are any bassets or schnauzers, but there are many others. I wonder if it's photoshopped or if they were able to get all those dogs to sit still to take the photo.

Love the avatar…gotta be photoshopped.
Minni is ignoring the sofa and napping in her fuzzy bed after spending some time in half open door in sun.
good veg list for me to remember.

Karen, they said we got 4 to 5 inches of rain in this area. I don't think we got any severe weather, but it was really windy earlier today. It's been dry so far today, but everything looks soggy outside. I turned on the bowl game just to see how bad it was! I saw a ref slip in the water and it seemed like almost every series was ending in a fumble. I think there were 13 total. The logos painted on the field were all running and some areas were muddy, so the players uniforms were a mess. Some of them were jumping in the water after they won. Next year will be the first year with the expanded CFP. There is a lot of money involved, so it would be good if they were more transparent about the process. I kind of doubt that will happen though. It won't be good to be an independent or in a "so called Power 5" conference either.
Linda, not sure about coffee, but I know that iron isn't absorbed well if you have tea at the same time as foods with iron. Hope the knee is feeling a bit better.
Chele, hope you're having a good day.
