Good morning and Happy Monday!
All crafters are welcome here as we discuss crafting, life and our weight loss journey. Crafting includes actual hands on crafting, such as crochetting, knitting, sewing, quilting, needlepoint, painting, jewelry making, etc.....plus reading craft catalogs, craft blogs, watching craft you tubes or other crafting videos, chatting here about crafting, chatting with another person about crafting, playing a musical instrument, reading craft emails, thinking about crafting, organizing crafting supplies, going into craft stores or the craft aisle in a store ,researching a new quilt shop, attending craft fairs,or any other activity that inspires or directs your mind toward a crafting activity- even visiting us here to join in our posts!! There are plenty of days in which the closest we get to crafting is a visit here, so even if you have no time to craft, we would love to hear from you. And one of us is never going to buy a fat quarter bundle again! We welcome newcomers to our friendly discussion! So glad you are here!! Please feel free to stop in and say hello!!

Ruth, thanks for the info on RSV- what I read last nite is that most babies end up getting it in the first 2 years of life, in other words my kids got it and I did not even know what it was! Dd is sensitive to it- a friend from HS (who is also a nurse) just had a little one who had to be hospitalized because of RSV. I am glad DD is taking DGD to the doctor again today, she trusts her pediatrician who will I am sure, answer all her questions. Of course, now I have been exposed….so we shall see how this week goes for me. Guess there is a chance I am sick for Christmas. It’s in His hands and I do trust Him….
Got a few more blocks trimmed last night. Maybe I can finish squaring off tonight and start sewing them together tomorrow.
CJ- hope you slept well and are not overloaded with the process of moving today!
Heavy rain and wind here……

Yes all the children I saw who had RSV were those that were hospitalized. If either of my children ever had it I never knew and I never heard it mentioned back then. Maybe that virus didn't exist or it did and everyone was unaware and no test was available for it.
CJ, you have really inspired me to start downsizing now. I know you did the same by starting to downsize a couple or a few years back. Even when you start early, right before you do move it's tons of work as you know.. Dh and I moved a lot in the beginning but back then we didn't have a lot of "stuff".Moving here was a much bigger problem than our moves back in NY. DS has told us that he has already discussed our move with people at his church and several offered to come here with him, help him load the truck we will rent and help drive back to Indiana. I thought that was extremely nice of them since there's only one of the men there that I know but ds' fellow church members are very willing to help others even when it entails being away from home for several days and helping to drive 1800 miles.
I got an email from Joann's fabric the other day. I had ordered yarn and wouldn't you know, the one I really wanted was out of stock. Usually those stores just tell you. "sorry it's out of stock" but this email told me that it would be in stock in 2-3 weeks and she would make sure that I got it at the sale price and free shipping.Being that I get a lot of emails offering me "free stuff" I was leary but it's actually a legit offer. I also heard, but not from Joann's directly, that they do the same as Mary Maxim in that when you leave things in your cart they will soon send you an email with a code to get free shipping. I haven't tried that yet since I bought the amount needed for free shipping and 10% off anyway
Well see you later.

Good afternoon!
Still kind or rainy and windy here, but they say that the system is moving out. Temperatures are dropping but it’s not supposed to go below 32. That is great as Ds is working another double tonight and will drive home in temperatures above freezing
DD took DGD to the doctor who was actually very encouraging. As DGD has not peaked a fever and she is sick almost a week already the doctor felt that she is going to get over this just fine. She did prescribe a nebulizer, just in case…. And gave DD simple instructions on treating this, plus details on when additional medical help might be needed. But the doctor was not concerned. Very thankful for that.
Probably won’t be back until tomorrow. Have a great night.

Ruth, think our paths crossed….think RSV has been around a long time and well we did not have testing for it or a vaccine (ha ha ha, gotta love the pharmaceutical companies for wanting to make a buck). Mind you I used to work for “big Pharma”. That is wonderful news that Joanns will hold the sale price for you!! I had one item I ordered for DGS#2- Disney (who I ordered from on 12/6) says its not left their facility yet. Well I refuse to wait 110 minutes on the phone….I have emailed them to cancel the order and found the same item on amazon- and it arrives Wednesday. Sounds like Joanns knows how to do customer service…very nice of them to treat you that well.

Hello Ginny - I'm glad to hear the doctor wasn't concerned about your DGD, and I hope she gets well soon. I also hope you don't get sick. I appreciate you saying how you felt that your mother's house had served it's purpose, I'm trying to feel that way with my house, even though today I'm feeling a bit upset that I have to move, but I know it's past time. Ruth - I'm glad your yarn came and I hope you get your DH's afghan finished for Christmas - I'm anxious to hear how he likes it I had to go to the rental house early today because a repairman was scheduled to come to fix the icemaker. He could have been there anytime after 9:00 but when he called he said he wouldn't be there until 12:00. I was able to get some things put away while waiting for him. When he got there and starting working he found that he had the wrong replacement icemaker, so now he has to come back again with the correct one. I don't really care that much about ice, it's been about 6 years since I had an icemaker in my refrigerator. But I was not happy that he unplugged the refrigerator, and had the doors open for awhile, and it got warm inside, so the few things I had in it were probably spoiled. I didn't want to take any chances on eating something bad, so I threw out the food in the refrigerator. I kept the few frozen items I had and hope they might be O.K. I'm glad I hadn't brought all my cold food to the new house yet. I'm going to wait a few days and make sure the temperature is alright before putting food in it again. When he comes back the next time I'll get my cooler out and put my freezer packs in it and put my food in there so it won't go bad. I hope to get more things taken to the new place over the next few days. I'm really glad I had done several declutterings but I still can't believe how much I have. I'm going to have to get rid of some of the stuff I'm taking to this new place, since there isn't as much storage as I have now. I did buy two new end tables for the living room and they are just the right size for me to make a square 18x18 table topper like I'd made in the summer and fall. I look forward to making them and putting them out. Take care

Ginny, I'm very thankful that your dd has a good pediatrician who is very informative and feels that dear little baby will be just fine. I hope you won't come down with even a cold.
CJ, I'd feel the same about having an ice maker. I don't have one and trays for ice cubes work just fine for us even though dh drinks ice coffee year round. Your food probably is fine but you're smart to not take a chance. Last thing you need is to get sick with all you still have to do to finish the move. Congratulations on buying new end tables and I'm glad they're the right size for the table toppers you have in mind.
What an end that was in tonight's football game. My cousin, I'm sure, is not happy.
I'm pretty sure that dh has figured out that the blanket is for him. He even gave me suggestions on adding another color and he's right that it will make the blanket even nicer

Good morning….
On the subject of ice makers…my dad (who was an engineer) often remarked the more fancy stuff you add to appliances, well that it just makes more stuff to break. I have never owned a refrigerator with an ice maker and never will. They are also a problem because if they leak- its a small capillary that feeds the water to the fridge and leaks are usually not discovered until a lot of damage has taken place (as in dripping all over the floor under the fridge).
CJ- that stinks that your food has to be discarded…. But I suppose better safe than sorry. I know that food can stay safe for a few hours in a refrigerator with the door closed during a power outage. Good to hear you planning on making some table runners to decorate the new house!!! Do you have a color scheme in mind?
Ruth, well of course Dh would figure out that the afghan is for him!! Ha ha ha….but I love, and have always love that he is engaged in your crocheting and that he made a good suggestion for the color addition. I did not see one minute of football from last night, but have to say that I dislike both teams and the outcome of that game means nothing to me, if both teams could lose in the same game I would be happy.
After a LOT of running around, Dd was able to locate the saline solution for the nebulizer for DGD. She was able to get it at the small (but very personal) local pharmacy in my town…. I hope that DGD continues to do well and gets over this quickly. I am taking vitamins….and one of those anti cold vitamins that I have in the house, hoping that it prevents me from getting sick. I did last night finish trimming all the blocks for the DGD’s quilt, so its machine time again. Looking forward to getting back to sewing.
See ya later

Hello - I'm posting this message from my rental house I brought my computer down this morning and set it up and I'm happy that it's working alright. Ruth - That's funny that your DH figured out the afghan is for him, I'm sure he'll enjoy using it Ginny - I'm wishing for the best for your DGD to get better and for you not to get sick I have some pretty blue and white fabrics that look wintery that I thought would look good through January on the side tables. Most of the stuff is out of my house, I'll be bringing more tomorrow and have a few other things to do too. I just have to keep working at it but hopefully I'll be done soon. I brought all my fabric today that is sorted by color, I can't believe how much there is and I don't think it's even half of what I have I hope to bring the rest of the fabric tomorrow. Maybe I'll be able to set up a sewing machine and make something this weekend. Take care and have a great day!

CJ- that is awesome that you are starting to settle and are able to post in the rental!! All your “needs” (repairs, lawn service etc…) are covered by the community you are moving to I hope? That should really save you a lot of frustration if so. Glad that you already have a color scheme selected for the table toppers.. Regretfully we all have too much fabric, or yarn. You know we did not purchase all that stuff, it just multiplies in our closets overnight? Ha ha ha. Hope your move is completed soon for you.
Ruth, did you sleep well last night?

Hello - Hope you've both had a good day. It was sunny, but a bit cool here today. Ginny - Yes, the community takes care of lawn maintenance and things like cleaning the gutters and snow removal. That's a big relief for me. Ruth - How is your DH's afghan coming along? I had a really busy day with lots of moving boxes. My feet and legs are really hurting tonight. I'm spending the first night at my rental house and with a new mattress so we'll see how that goes. I can already see one problem I'm having. The air in this place is making my allergies act up. I'm hoping I'll adjust to the new air soon. I'll probably take some allergy medicine before bedtime. I have to go back to my house each of the next few days since there are still things to move. But I've had help from my DB and DSIL and that was really appreciated. I'm just overwhelmed with all the things I've brought from a 4 bedroom house to a 2 bedroom house. There are a lot of boxes to unpack and all my quilting things to set up too. I also still have to go check on mail at my house since I waited too long to put in my change of address, so that will probably take a few more weeks. And then today the moving company was supposed to come to give me an estimate, but they didn't show up so I had to reschedule that until next week. It's always something . Take care

Ginny, you're awfully quiet. Are you and family ok. I just heard from my #4 dgs and he told me that he wants the tree skirt the same colors (red and white) and the same size as the one I made for his family. He wants to save it for when he's an adult. Guess he thinks I won't last long enough to make him one at that time . I found out that most of them have colds including the baby and I'm wondering if she has RSV. I guess after having 9 children my ds and dil would think about that. CJ, yes that's seems to be true that if it's not one thing it's another. I say that a lot. And it doesn't sound very good for that moving company when they fail to show up when they were supposed to. I do hope that your body adjusts quick to having different air and maybe the dust, etc that is in the new house that you can't even see. I hope the new mattress works well for you. That might take some getting used to also. Taking the allergy med might help you sleep too. Did either of you get a lot of rain. I keep hearing about all the rain along the east coast on the news. I was going to go out today to take care of one more errand before Christmas but didn't end up going so will do it tomorrow. It's supposed to be warm again. I did crochet a bit and did a little decluttering by adding a few items to my donations bags.

Good morning! CJ- hope that your first night in your new home was peaceful and that you rested well. (I was wondering when you would make the transition!!) Moving is a VERY dusty process, also you do not know what the previous owner left for you in terms of dust. (Did they have a pet that left all kinds of dander that you cannot see?). I would wait a few weeks, and if after some good cleanings and your belongings being in there, perhaps your body will adjust. I know that the community might have a no pet policy, but that does not mean that the previous tenant obeyed that rule. I am glad to hear that you have an extra bedroom for all your quilting supplies and machines. Yes, that is important!!!!
Ruth, so sorry to learn that your Ds’s family has colds…who knows if it’s RSV? If everyone else has the cold then I guess it’s probably just a cold. What I read is that a person can get RSV many times in their lives, so who knows. Hey, so glad you got your marching orders for DGS’s tree skirt! Aw he loves his grandma and just wants to keep you working on gifts for him.
Got a lot of rain…..but my house (with the exception of one small area) stayed dry. (Thank you Lord). I know of many who were not so fortunate.

After a crazy day, I am happy to be in my pajamas and ready to head to bed to read.
Little by little I am getting ready for Christmas. I have one last item that I am waiting for delivery of, and they say it will arrive tomorrow. It’s a gift for Ds and is sort of a gag gift. I certainly do not need it for him for Christmas but would like to have it here. I did work this am…and then had music practice at church. I am happy that that is all over with…and now have 11 days off from work or babysitting. Believe me I am looking forward to that. Tomorrow is a busy day, but with pleasant stuff for the most part. I made some Salisbury steaks for dinner and have left overs, so I will not need to cook for dinner. (yay!)
No crafting today…but I am hoping that tomorrow I can get some time in on the machine. I do know that tomorrow I will be wrapping and starting to clean my slightly messy house. It’s just been such a busy week.
Hope you both are well, CJ and Ruth.

Hello Ruth - That is really sweet that your GDS wants that Christmas tree skirt made to use when he's an adult I had all the heavy rain over the weekend. I'm glad your weather has been warmer. Ginny - Hope you didn't get sick and your DGD is doing better. You were posting the same time I was, I'm glad you had a good day. Sadly, I didn't sleep well last night. There is a perfumy smell in the house that isn't too bad in the living room, but in my bedroom last night it felt like it was blowing on me. I'm not sure if it's coming from the HVAC vents or what. One of my family that I mentioned it to said the owners might have used Febreeze in the house to clean before it was rented. I'm very sensitive to perfume smells and they cause me migraines. Maybe the smell will wear off once all my stuff is in the house, and I put several boxes of baking soda in my bedroom to hopefully absorb the odor. I ended up sleeping on the couch last night because it was so bad in the bedroom. I moved more things today and had some family help. I hope I only have a few more trips of moving things to have everything out of the house except for the furniture to be moved and whatever else is left. The moving company has been used by my family members and is recommended, so hopefully they will show up at the appointment next week. The man I talked to was very apologetic and said he would be the one to come to my house. So hopefully it will go well. I'm very stressed about all the boxes and bags that have been dumped in this new house. And it's been very difficult transitioning to a new home. I feel sad about leaving my old home where everything was familiar. But I know I didn't really have any choice. Hopefully in another month or so I'll have adjusted to the changes. Thanks for your support Take care!
