MERRY CHRISTMAS - Hope you and your families have a wonderful day Ruth - I'm glad to hear your neighbor got better. You are right about the mileage on my car - the poor thing probably doesn't understand why I've been driving it almost every day I look forward to being done with that. Ginny - I'm happy you enjoyed the service. Did you play your flute at that one, or is there a service today that you'll play at? I hope the grandkids are having a wonderful time with the gifts. Christmas is always so fun when there are young children around. I spent some time with family yesterday afternoon and when I drove home I was able to see all the pretty Christmas lights on the decorated houses. My DB's house is so much closer, only about a 20 minute drive, so that is nice. Today I'm hoping to get a few things unpacked. I'm trying to be patient for the furniture to be moved and then once I put things away in those cabinets I'll have a better idea of what is left and then I can donate or trash those things I don't need. I also hope to make the gingerbread even though I'm not really feeling like it. I miss my days of doing nothing Take care

Merry Christmas ! Forgive me for not using pretty colored fonts like CJ!
CJ- it’s only temporary….in a week or so the furniture will be delivered and you will be in the process of unpacking and organizing. That is great that you were able to see pretty Christmas lights and I am so super happy for you that you live closer to your brother. Your rental is in a better neighborhood- and I assume you feel safer there? I can imagine it will be still a bit of work figuring out what you do not need or do not want to keep, but still all in all a good step forward for you. If you did not get to make the gingerbread, well tomorrow is another day! The past few weeks have been insanely busy for you and that gingerbread mix can wait another day or two and will taste just as good then.
Ruth, hope that your day was peaceful and happy. I am truly happy to hear that your neighbor seems to be doing better- and answer to prayer for sure.
I had 2 church services yesterday and played at both of them… (normal am Sunday service and a Christmas Eve service) Somehow saw all my family today, but it was a lot of running around and I am tired. Think it’s time for bed!!

We stayed home today and relaxed. I haven't even crocheted yet today and it's 11 pm so maybe I will now. I've been reading a novel that became available from my hold list. I like the stories but this is another author that feels she needs to include her political views in her stories
CJ, it's very hard to get rid of things. My dh and I both always think that we'll need something sometime in the future and as a result have way too many things. One thing to remember is that once you get rid of something you most likely will not be able to get it back so especially things like family pictures or letters you received from family members, things children made in school, gifts from certain people, etc are things we all think twice about giving away or even selling. We know you've already made some hard decisions and know that you will make more wise decisions in the future related to what you keep and what you dispose of.
Ginny, I'm glad you got to see all your family today and I hope you can spend the next week doing things for yourself

Ruth, just a comical aside….sometimes I have trouble falling asleep or just like some background noise. I have found a very BORING podcast that I llsten to at times, and the podcaster just recently discussed when it’s time to abandon a good without finishing it because the author cannot keep politics out of it. I am sorry to hear that the author whose works you enjoy is unable to keep her politics out of her stories. Were you able to get somel crocheting time in?
CJ- wondering if you got to making the gingerbread ! That would be a nice way to give your oven a try and make the house smell amazing! Hope you are progressing with your unpacking and are starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel.
Got a nice walk in this morning, and hope to work on the baby quilt shortly

Another quiet day. I did do a little cooking and drove down to the mailbox but that's about it. I'll crochet this evening.
Ginny, yes a couple of the authors who's books I read put in political views as part of the story. They're mystery writers and do write good novels but none of them seem to have the same or even similar political views as I have
CJ, I hope you're getting some R&R time in and enjoying seeing some of the things you said have been in boxes for awhile. Once your furniture gets there and you're putting things away you might find some surprises....hopefully pleasant ones. For instance maybe finding a fabric that has been in a box or drawer

Ruth, I have given up on a few authors who could not keep their political views out of their books. I read to escape, not listen to their politics. I did just download a mystery through my library….oh, it’s ok. But I am only a short while into it.
Just survived another Christmas with my husbands sisters family….not a horrible evening but I am surely glad that is over with.
I did get the leaves made for the tulips- gotta press them tomorrow and attach the stems
CJ, how did your day go?

Ginny, well at least the get together you had to go to is over. At least this novel I just read only made a few comments that were political but the story overall was subtly trying to get their interpretation of certain events across without actually coming out and hitting the reader with it. Despite their little innuendos it was still an enjoyable novel.

Sounds as though you finished the book, Ruth. Do you actually read the book, or listen to it? Glad you enjoyed it! How did you find this series/author? So many books out there….its hard to know what to select when looking for a book to read,
I just started a murder mystery (audiobook I rented from my library). I figured I would listen to the story while I sew.
CJ- how are you sleeping in the new house? I hope it’s starting to make sense and that you are getting comfortable there. Do you have a scheduled date to move your furniture?
Got the news on..enjoying my tea and a quiet morning.. supposed to rain most of the day so I hope to get the book on and listen to that while sewing.

Hello - Hope you are enjoying the holiday week It's a rainy day here, but not too cold, in the low 50s. Hope your weather isn't too bad. I drove up to my house yesterday and today and I've pretty much moved everything out of there now that I wanted to bring to the rental house. There is still stuff in the house, but after family looks through it I'd like to get it hauled away by one of the junk companies like 1-800-Got-Junk. I was supposed to meet with the moving company this morning, but for the second time they didn't show up so I'll be looking for another company. It's too bad because they are a local company and I knew people who used them and liked them in the past. But I guess they aren't as reliable anymore. I'm hoping to get some boxes opened in my bedroom and try to sort out what things I need to keep boxed until my furniture gets there and what I can put away/store. I definitely know I need to have a donate bag ready to put stuff in. Take care

Ginny, I like books that I can actually read whether it's online or a real hold in your hands book. My library seems to have a limited collection of books online. They use overdrive now. It used to be a different company who had a much more user friendly format and had more books. On one book I put on hold I was #73 waiting for it to become available. I have no idea how they work in the site. I thought that if they had the book available online that it could go to any number of people at a time. Since I don't hear well I can't use audio books unless I have headphones and really don't care for audio books. Mysteries are the books I prefer. The one I just read was a Patricia Cornwell book in her series of Kay Scarpetta a medical examiner.; The language in it is not horrible but could be better. Why so many authors have to use that type of language is a mystery to me.This was her newest book Unnatural Death.
CJ, I don't really think that there are a lot of people moving during the holiday season so being busy couldn't be an excuse for not showing up. It sounds like this moving company has really gone downhill since the people that recommended them to you used them. This has got to be very stressful for you. I know you want to get all this over with asap.
It's still pretty cold here but in the 30's so can't complain. I'm not looking forward to Jan and Feb as those are always the worst months here.

Hello - Hope you are both doing well today and having nice weather. We had a lot of rain last night and it's cloudy today but almost 60 degrees. I went to my old house today to put the trash out for pickup tomorrow - I had several bags from clearing out things on the second floor. And I also wanted to check and make sure there was no water coming in the ceiling in that room I have problems with. Fortunately it was alright. I also stopped by the post office and dropped off a few bags at the Salvation Army store. I may go visit family later, but I have to see. I sure hope I don't have to go out tomorrow, I'm tired! I need to sort out my quilting items from my office items in the room where I put all that. Today I needed some scotch tape, but I have no idea where it is So if I could at least get a box together with the office things I need to use that would help. I might even be motived to do a bit of sewing if I could get the supplies pulled out for that. I'm trying not to think about having to find a moving company, I think I'll just wait until next week to call a few places, it's such a limited week for most businesses this week. Take care

CJ- well it sure does sound as though you are making great progress- starting to truly unpack things at the new house and it sounds like you are pretty much done with the other house, at least for its contents. What a relief that must be to find that the ceiling did not leak…it’s been a wet couple of days. And I hope you can just stay home tomorrow also!!! It’s a busy week for most companies, and perhaps, just maybe the moving company you really want to use will get back to you.
Ruth, wow….Patricia Cornwall is one of the few authors I would most likely forgive for putting her political views in a book. I just did a quick look and noticed that Unnatural Death is in the Scarpetta series. I will ask for no details other than this- is Kay still with her husband Benton? (Yes I have read the whole series and do enjoy them…what I love about PC books is her attention to detail and forensics). And her language is not too bad also the books are usually missing a lot of gratuitous sexual content. If you have not read her earlier books it might be a good idea to go back to read them. Think the first book in the series is Postmortem….and it was excellent. Yes, I have read them all, I think- except for this one.
Got some work on the baby quilt today and am now actually putting together flowers making complete blocks. As I am going nowhere tomorrow, I hope to finish the complete flower blocks and then start adding the ditzy daisy blocks.

CJ, you definitely are making great progress on your moving. After your family goes over to that house and takes what they want and the company you're planning to have take the rest all will be done as far as the move goes. Then, when your furniture is delivered you be able to get the new place fixed the way you want it. I hope you can find a good moving company. I'm happy that there was no leak from all the rain.
Ginny, as far as I know I've read all in the Scarpetta series. Some of the earlier books were a little depressing so I held off in reading them for awhile but got back into them and was glad I did. Yes she is still with Benton. you do need to read this one. It's really good. When you do you'll see the part I was referring to regarding politics. It sounds like you're making good progress on the quilt. Will you be sending it to be quilted?
I haven't done much today either. I've had a lot of those days recently. I did crochet for a short time and I do want to get the rest of the hat requests done then I need to do the lambs that are to hand on whatever babies have things hanging on and then the tree skirt.I kind of laugh every time I think about a 9 year old asking for something to save until he reaches adulthood. I got some wonderful pictures in the last couple days from ds and then from ddil. All the children were home there for Christmas so I got pictures of all of them.
See you tomorrow. I hope you're both sleeping well.
