HAPPY NEW YEAR! I didn’t make a resolution this year to lose X amount of pounds by Fourth of July or anything like that. Instead, I want to focus on the things I need to leave behind from 2023 so that I can make my life better overall. I’ve decided to try to focus away from food and into other behaviors, because then I believe food will take care of itself. My objective is going to be getting to bed earlier and getting more sleep, as well as trying to keep daily life a little simpler by slowing down. I tend to race around like a squirrel sometimes and in the process I get overwhelmed. Being more focused, and in the present will really help me I believe.
Have a great NY Day!
P.S. By focusing away from food, I don’t mean that I will discontinue my tracking and planning meals. But I am going to keep it simpler and try not to always overwhelm myself by allowing so much of the process to take over my thoughts. Heavy thoughts for early morning, but I think you all might understand what I mean.

Judy I soooo agree. Lots over think stuff. I'm just the opposite. I focus on less is more and I basically eat the same meals that we rotate. Carl and I both enjoy cooking and hardly ever eat out.
Lol haven't made a New Year's resolution I'm decades. May sound strange but I do mine in September . Why??? Maybe because it's my favorite month with no memories attached.
Not sure if I explained it....but again I do get where you are coming from.
Sorry about DD flight and mishap at home.
Time to shut down. I am wrapping myself up in family memories....

Yes, Ann I was thinking of you when I made my resolution to simplify life. You are a role model for me!

Happy New Year!
I started off the year by attending Mass this morning, then came home and joined DH in the kitchen. We had pork roast, rice and gravy, green beans, candied yams, blackeyed peas and DD1 brought cole slaw. I made 2 pecan pies for dessert, but everyonewas too full for dessert, so I sent one home with DD1 and a big chunk of the other with DD2 who loves it.
While we were waiting for everything to get cooked, the girls and DGKs took down all the Christmas decorations and got everything boxed up and back in storage. I am SO thankful that is done! After dinner, we face-timed with the MI crew and everyone opened their t-shirts, which is always a lot of laughs. Mine says “Nope, not today!” Which fits nicely with the slow down and do less theme for 2024, which I wholeheartedly approve.
It is a beautiful, sunny day here and 60 degrees, so I plan to get a walk in after resting a while. Everyone went home to take naps and get ready for work and school this week.
Enjoy the rest of the holiday!

Lol Judy I've been called a lot of things but never a role model.
Pam love the saying on your shirt.
Back from our final walk.
Time to kick back.
