Thanks for the start, Chele, and a big 🐇🐇🐇 to all! I saw something on the ESPN page about a really bad call on the Lions-Cowboys game. Which team was Iggy rooting for? It amazes me how many people outside Texas root for the Cowboys. I wasn't even a fan when I lived in the Lonestar State. LOL on Iggy bagging up things and putting them in the basement. They'll come back in style some day. I already have a bag started for the thrift store that Dale may drop off on Saturday. We had a St Vincent de Paul where I grew up. My aunt volunteered there for a while and we just called it "Vinnie's". You're right about my niece. I reminded her several times that she comes from a long line of strong, resilient women (the men, not so much). This being on the heels of losing her DM less than 2 years ago and all this stuff with the way her dad (DB) has been acting. I texted her this morning wishing that this year would bring her good things to offset what's happened the past couple of years. We think the cold weather here dampened down the fireworks enthusiasts. We had one volley loud enough to wake up Arya, but all the others were far enough away that she didn't notice.
Linda, both of your menus sounded wonderful. The first one seemed like a lot for just 2 people. The samosas and spring rolls will keep. What's your avatar? How are the knees doing? Are you going to take a little time to rest today? You've been going at it pretty hard for the past couple of days.
Did you, DM, and DS have a wild NYE, Kathy? Something definitely has to be done about the portal. I wonder if they may be able to do something similar to MLB where you're not a free agent until after the World Series. It's not like most of the players are going to transfer to their new school to immediately start the next semester/quarter anyway. The snub snowball theory sounds plausible for FSU, and when you think about it, 29 player really is a lot, even if some were injured.
I heard from Liz last night. She's still dealing with pain and "graduated" from PT last week, so it will be interesting to see how things go without the weekly interventions. Wally is continuing to decline but is hanging in. They had a quiet evening planned like the rest of us.
We have football starting at 1 with TN, then MI, then TX. We'll probably DVR the Longhorns game since it probably won't be over until sometime tomorrow morning. Doing laundry and cooking black eyed peas (it's a southern thing) for dinner is the rest of today's agenda. I hope everyone has a quiet start to an awesome 2024 full of health and prosperity. Having some intestinal issues this morning for some reason. I'm waiting for that to settle down and then try to get a workout done. Dale is doing a half marathon on Saturday, so he won't be running at the state park on Wednesday. So I'm planning to go to the Wednesday iTone class this week. It's been weird not having class for the past couple of weeks due to holidays, so this will work out. And, I can break in my new yoga mat and carrying bag that Santa brought.

My menus were small amounts spread out over the afternoon and evening. TJs samosas a bit too spicy, PF Changs spring rolls kind of blah.
avatar is the good concert room in Vienna. It will be on PBS with the new year concert today. We got lucky one October and got Strauss tickets. Sat in the side box second from the front in the left…great memory.
unusual fireworks in the neighborhood…really loud explosions periodically…illegals. Minni is ok with everything else, not these. She would run over to the bed, but she is the first not on it with me because she is so different and uncontrolled that she broke a knee last Dec.falling. Just before midnight I got in the floor knowing it would be nuts, and all she wanted to do was nip playfully at my hand and try to get me to chase her. Never works, but she tries. Finally got a hold of her as midnight and horrid noise happened. So getting off the floor with day-in-kitchen ,etc knees was my first thing this year.
Friend has a new year candle lighting party 2-5. I will show up for a short time. Really tired. ButWe started the year with clean Jammie’s and bedding.

Kathy, I hope you had a good time last night with DS and DM. Were there lots of fireworks?
Karen, I hope Liz keeps up the PT exercises. She’s going to need them. So sad about Wally. I hope your niece gets help to recover her balance if she needs it. She’s been dealt some heavy blows. Good news for Arya on the scarcity of fireworks. Iggy roots for anybody playing against the Cowboys. 😂😂😂
Linda, enjoy the concert on PBS. That looks like a fabulous concert hall. Sorry to hear you and Minni had to endure neighborhood fireworks.
We’ve been watching the birds this afternoon. We have two cardinal couples today. We saw the bigger make chase off the smaller one a d same for the females. We do have food in both feeders but I guess they could not share. Earlier the smaller male cardinal was chasing off the sparrows. Bird wars!

safest , best stuff I have ever used, over 100 years old, easily takes the hard water deposits from sprinklers off my kitchen windows and stuff off the black cooktop! No scratches. Bon Ami.

Karen, yes, we had a wild NYE! We got takeout from an Italian place and had a nice dinner. The restaurant got behind on their orders, so we ate pretty late. There were a lot of fireworks all around DS's house and all the way along the drive home. We drove around a bit and looked at the Christmas lights. There was a huge orange moon coming up while we were driving. It looked more like a harvest moon than a winter one. I hope Liz can continue some of the PT on her own to help with the pain. That has to be really rough to deal with that and working. Glad that Wally is hanging in.
I don't know how they're going to fix the timing of the portal and bowl games. If a player enters the transfer portal in December, don't they start at the new school in January? UCF starts up again next week. If a team has a late December bowl game, it doesn't seem like that would give them much time to move, although moving was a lot easier when I was a college student. Congrats on the TN win! I just saw the latest scores and hope MI can come through with a win over Alabama.
Linda, that sounds like an incredible venue and concert. Hope the fireworks aren't as bad tonight. It was loud in my area too. I've heard of BonAmi, but I don't think I've ever used it.
Chele, there were a lot of fireworks, but they ended shortly after midnight this year. It did make for a pretty drive home with the fireworks, Christmas lights and the pretty moon. The bird wars sound very entertaining!
