Thanks for the start, Chele, I also hope that DN#3 can find her footing and move forward. She doesn't have a great local support system and, despite growing up where she is, she doesn't seem to have many friends there. Birds are so much fun to watch. The woodpeckers are the kings of our feeder and when they fly in, the others move out. We only seem to have one pair of cardinals right now, but that will probably change. If you have bluebirds, do they come to the feeder? The ones we have are close but never seem to feed. I guess they just like the company. What will Chef Iggy be cooking this week? Do you have leftover salmon and sides from yesterday?
Kathy, that was the best way to watch fireworks--no noise. Sorry dinner ended up being late, but I know that Italian place is one of your favorites. I wish we would have been able to see that moon--too many clouds. I was shocked at what an easy victory TN had. Not so easy for Michigan, but a win's a win. TX was oh so close. I have to say that Washington is a better team than I expected. I think they are going to the Big Ten next year. I guess the good thing is I don't have to choose between my two favorite teams in the national championship. Go Blue! I did some searching to see if a player had to transfer the next semester after being picked up out of the transfer portal and couldn't find anything concrete. I did see an interview with one player who did start at his new school the very next semester and he said doing so was very difficult trying to do everything he had to do and start classes on time. From what I read, players have 45 days after their season ends to enter the portal. If a player decides to do that later in the window, the semester may have already started at their new school. I assume players need to be constantly enrolled in order to maintain their scholarships. Moving was definitely easier as a college student and I think men have less stuff than women do. I hope Liz can find the time to do exercises with as crazy as things are for her most of the time.
I used Bonami for years, Linda, and love the little chick on the label. When I started cooking with the Instant Pot, they recommended Bar Keeper's Friend, so I switched and really like it. That's a beautiful auditorium in your avatar, and what an awesome memory of the concert. Will you be at the museum today? How are you feeling?
Laundry is on the agenda today but not much else. Dale is playing tennis when it warms up and I think I may take the opportunity to go through drawers and the closet to fill up the thrift shop bag. Dale will be close to there on Saturday after he finishes his half marathon and planned to stop there anyway. It's in the same shopping center as our Thai restaurant, so we will also have that to look forward to. Otherwise it might be a quiet day. I woke up with a sniffle so I'm trying to get it not to turn into something else.

Kathy, it sounds like a nice New Year celebration. Italian food is always a good choice.
Linda, I hope you have your fuzzy slippers on, since you didn’t go to the museum.
Karen, I hope you can stop those sniffles in their tracks. We have one bluejay that comes to the feeder off and on. This is the first year we’ve had two cardinal pairs and the first time we’ve seen the cardinals get aggressive. Food must be scarce already.
We had plenty of leftovers so I made teriyaki salmon bowls for lunch. Iggy made shrimp gumbo yesterday so we’ll have that tomorrow.
I gritted my teeth and took a trip to Walmart to get some things Meijer and Kroger don’t stock. It seems to be getting trashier at my local Walmart. Lots of items were on the wring shelves. I’m hoping it’s just a mess after the holidays. They, at least, had two cashiers.
It’s a cold, cloudy day so not much outdoor activity. We have most of the Christmas decorations put away. I say “we.” Iggy put most of them away while I was at Walmart. He’s usually the one that wants to leave them up until the 6th. I guess he was bored.

Karen, congrats on the Michigan win! It is kind of ironic that FSU now has a better record than Alabama and Texas. I'm curious on the actual rules of the portal too and also the NIL agreements. I saw that some of the top players are getting NIL deals worth over a million dollars, so that and the portal have really changed the sport. I was trying to find some actual stats on FSU's roster and the portal. I remember a feature during halftime of one of the games and I think it said Norvell had picked up around 7 players in the portal for the 2023 season. He developed a lot of the players over several years, so it's not like they all came through the portal. A lot of the 2023 team could've opted out last year, but came back for one more season so there was a strong culture there before "the snub".
Chele, now I'm craving shrimp gumbo! I think I'm going to get four meals out of the Italian takeout. The takeout portions were huge. I got a salad with my meal and it was as big as the clamshell containers from the grocery store. You were brave to enter Walmart. I always say never again when I go in there! It's always a mess and noisy and crowded. I order online from them sometimes and have had good luck with their shipping. I'll probably be the straggler with my decorations as usual.
Linda, hope you're able to relax today since you don't have to go to the museum.

.Hospital cases of COVID ARE RISING HERE. Also flu and a couple nasty colds. Nervous yesterday about open house gathering in small space, mostly near one I know is not sick and gone in 45 minutes. I may start masking in stores although I can usually keep distance. Unfortunately the new strain is so contagious six feet is not enough and it lingers in air. I have been seeing more masks on customers and employees. Pharm. never took down the plastic so at least they don't get coughed on.
Had stuff for Good Will and needed gas, so it got me up and out. Nice today. You can breathe. No fireworks last night.i had PBS Vienna New Years concert on tv to distract Minni though.
The whole neighborhood is Little early this year, but all but the lights under the front window and in side of house by gate are packed up and correctly labelled. This year was a guessing game. Moved some glass containers with lids and put a three shelf corner unit there for the dishes I sometimes use, but not much so I don't have bend and search in the dining room. That necessitated arranging the drawer with the smaller glass storage stuff.
Murphy's second law: you can never do just one thing!
Have a good day.
