.I walked dog at eight, Minni in dog quilted coat, me in turtleneck, sweater, winter jacket and knit hat…need to find my gloves. It was 35 with a light breeze. My system has become used to adjusting for heat!
yard guys came and got rid of piles and piles of leaves. I had raked a lot into heaps because it is hard to blow wet leaves, and I think they were really glad to have a lot ready to bag.
definitely a make soup day.

Chele, that's fantastic on the pomelo. What variety of persimmon did Iggy have? We have native ones growing down by the lake that are very small and only good for something like jam. The wildlife usually get them before we do. Good that you worked out with Iggy, even though you didn't feel like it. When I was still working, I had a good friend who worked in Student Services and we did that for each other and it got me out of the office many times when I had work piling up on my desk. You need to give your basement gym a name. We call ours "The Pain Cave". Like Kathy said, you and GF seem to have the worst luck when you plan to get together for lunch. Osteo has been a good fit for me. Given the family history, it's great to be able to improve my bone health without popping a pill that could lead to some nasty side effects. I hope you didn't get much snow. We just had rain here and it cleared out by mid-morning, but it's still overcast and chilly.
I think Garmin could have done a bit better on the manuals, Kathy. Most of the time when I need an answer, I go to the forums. As you have discovered, YouTube is also a wealth of information. What two apps on your phone-- Garmin Connect and Garmin Express? If so, I just have Connect on my phone and have Connect and Express on my laptop. The latter is usually just used for updates. I have a separate Garmin that I use when I swim, so I can update both through the computer. I had a little head start on the Garmin because I got my swim watch almost 6 years ago. I find myself having to hit the top button twice when I'm wearing an external HR monitor. I think there is a setting that allows automatic start for an activity. Mine must be turned on because if I walk to the mailbox, it will start on its own. I think it's under Activity Tracking on Connect when you click on your device, and it's called Move IQ, and there is also an Auto Activity Start that you also need to toggle on. Have you heard if DN got back from AVL? Did he drive or fly? They are doing a lot of construction on I-26 south and it's just a nasty and often dangerous drive through there these days. You're right that it's tough to tell a cold from Covid, and I did test to be sure--negative.
Linda, in a place as large as where you live, I'm shocked that they don't have multiple puppy kindergarten classes available this time of year. Our local Petsmart offers one. Sorry about the pollen. At least people don't look at you like you have 3 heads when you wear a mask these days. I guess that was one bright spot from Covid. You were colder than we were this morning. Definitely a good soup day. We have a huge pot of minestrone in the fridge.
I heard from Liz. She was in a lot of pain yesterday but it was a work-from-home day, so at least she didn't have to go anywhere. She and Gary had Door Dash for dinner last night and Wally took off out the front door after the delivery guy and Gary had to chase after him with the leash. Even in his precarious condition, that pup still has some spunk. They are expecting 2-5" of snow starting this afternoon.
Lots of sneezing today, so I hope that's a good sign. I started spiking a low grade temp yesterday afternoon that dissipated before bedtime, thankfully. I told Dale it scares me to spike a fever after the last one landed me in the hospital. Dale called a few minutes ago to say he had finished the race and was heading home after picking up Thai. He said it rained the entire time, so I hope he doesn't get sick. He's never sick, so not the best patient. I changed the bed and baked a loaf of sourdough. Otherwise, I plan to be a slug.

.Made the soup up to last step which is wilt the spinach and add lemon juice, then serve. The Greek cheese is fried in slabs and put on baguette slices to go with it. Smells good.
I cheated and used TJs precut onion, carrot, celery mix. The tomato can is the large size ( or about 3 cups) it looks like 8 servings time, not 4 , but maybe it's a lumberjack recipe!

Karen, thanks for the tip on the automatic activity setting for the Garmin. I'm sure I don't have that set because it's not kicking in when I walk. I think I'll like it once I get it all set up. Connect and Express are the two apps. I followed the little "get started" guide that came with it and it said to put the apps on my phone. I didn't realize until later that I probably could've done that on the desktop, but I guess it doesn't really matter. DN flew and DS picked him up from the airport earlier today. I think he headed on home. Glad to hear your test was negative and hope the cold clears up soon. I don't blame you for being worried over the fever. Hope you can get some rest and get back to normal soon.
Sorry to hear that Liz is still having so much pain and wish there was more they could do for her. Glad to hear that she was at home. Running off seems to be one of the major goals in life for a beagle. They are little rascals! The race over here was supposed to be a half marathon at Disney, but they reduced it to a 7 mile run due to the incoming rain. It started raining here early this morning, so I hope they were able to finish. Glad that Dale could finish his race and hope he doesn't get sick.
Linda, 35 would be a shock to my system too! Soup sounds like a good idea.
Chele. hope you're having a good day.

Kathy, it's good to have Connect on your phone so you can sync your watch, but you won't use Express much except for updates. Good that DN made it home before the bad weather hit in NC. How much rain did you end up getting? Has it moved out? I know a lot of people at the Disney HM were very disappointed that the race was cut short. Some runners train all year for that race. It would be especially disappointing for those who were using it as a training race for a full marathon. But, safety first....
I'll bet that soup was really good with your COLD temps, Linda. I hope you've at least warmed a bit this morning so you aren't colder than we are. I guess if there really was rain, Minni didn't want to go out to walk. Not sure when Liz will be able to retire because there are some complicating factors at play. Health insurance is, of course, a consideration as well because she isn't old enough for Medicare yet.
Chele, what have you been up to this weekend? Did you get any snow?
Still a bit congested and nose is like a faucet this morning and I don't have a lot of energy. None of us slept well because the smoke alarm went off for no reason a couple of hours after we went to bed and we all laid awake for a while after anticipating it would go off again. Dale blew all of them out this morning. We are going to get them replaced in the next few months and hopefully that will help. I need to do some cooking/baking today, including Arya's homemade PB biscuits that she has every day. I need to cook some veggies and do the usual load of workout clothes that is unusually large due to the many layers that Dale was wearing yesterday. He used the new compression garment last night and liked it. He was even able to go out for a run this morning (in wind with a little precip) so that told me his legs and feet felt better than they normally do after that distance. The Thai was great for dinner last night. We get the spiced oil in the side so we can add less than they do and that usually clears out my sinuses, but not this time. I put my nose right up to the container and couldn't smell it. Hopefully I'll feel good enough to go to iTone tomorrow morning. I have to drop some things at the greenhouse after that the crew needs to start planting this week for the spring plant sales.

Linda, I’m glad you got rid of the leaves. They wreak havoc on the grass. That soup sounds good.
Karen, Iggy wasn’t sure of the type of persimmon but it looks like a Japanese persimmon. We also got Ohio apples (Roma and Melrose) for only 99¢ a lb. I hope you are feeling better this afternoon a d tne fever is go e. We had to replace our smoke alarms last year. Every time we opened the oven when we were cooking they went off. I hope they leave you alone tonight.
Kathy, is it still raining there? We got a dusting of wet snow yesterday and it melted quickly.
It was spitting rain mixed with snow during my drive to and from the restaurant. It was also very foggy. I took the surface streets, so I didn’t have to deal with the crazy fast drivers and some idiot in an SUV made a left turn from a side street onto the main road I was on and almost plowed into me. Idjit!
GF and I had our lunch at a restaurant in a shopping center. We were going to window shop after lunch but it was too wet and cold. We went to Doubleday’s Grill, a local restaurant, and I had a brown rice bowl with veggies, feta and a balsamic reduction. So good and big enough to bring half home.
Have a good afternoon and talk to you later.

i did get a little of a second walk in closet cleaned up yesterday. Going to sit on a stool and do my make up drawer.
Soup day again.
DH got me a surprise cookbook for Xmas because he saw it had good reviews mostly in Amazon after he saw the guy cook breakfast. Well most of breakfast was ok, but the chapter on cooking with hemp and the next in cooking with bugs mostly using cricket powder…WHAT? Others were that really healthy stuff mostly cabbage family based that I cannot eat or oily fish stuff neither of us eat. Going to Changing Hands bookstore for credit.
Arizona dog is hunkered down in her anti-anxiety donut. She was curled up and tucked under two the blankets in her bed last night.
Lot of wind and then Three hours of moderate rain half hour after DH did the Minni walk. 35 again this morning and I think it is 50 now at 1:30. Both dssil got 4-5 inches. Good thing the new snowblower came Friday. The Eastern mountains and NE mess got lot of snow, still snowing and heading eastward to you.

Finished a Xmas gift puzzle, one piece gone. She is so fast that when my sleeve dusts a pice off the table, she is across the room with it playing keep away. I did rescue three.

Karen, I don't know what the rain totals were. It didn't last too long, but was heavy for a while. It's a shame the rain had to hit the same time as the Disney race. I heard there was a tornado in Ft. Lauderdale. We had the potential for them here with that storm, but none developed. Hope the sinuses clear up soon. Chele, we got some rain earlier, but it was mostly dry today. It looked gloomy out though. We're supposed to get another storm on Tuesday. It's that time of year when they keep coming down from the north. Blame Canada! Yikes on the near accident and glad you avoided it. Glad you were able to have the lunch with GF and the brown rice bowl sounds great. Linda, you definitely have good weather for soup. Glad you can get credit for the cookbook. I think Liz is about my age or maybe a year younger. They moved our full SS retirement age up to almost 67, so she may have a while if she needs that. At least Medicare is still 65 for now anyway.
