This is a thread devoted to those in their 50s, 60s, 70s and beyond who don't have children or grandchildren but live rich, full lives. Please feel free to join our stroll thru life and come back often for support and to share. ***** It’s pouring out there. Good. We need it.

Thanks for the start, Chele. It's pouring here, too. We have flood warnings in several counties, so maybe the lake will come up a bit. I wish we could have gotten some of this in August and September, but I guess we take it when we can get it. It looks like the snow line was north of you at least. I haven't heard from Liz since the weekend, so I don't know if they had a snowy drive into the city this morning. Did you work out this morning? We don't have much going on today so I told Dale I would do my workout this afternoon. I'm a bit sore after iTone yesterday. Did you order your free FitBit? Which model are they offering?
Linda, good job trying new veggies. I would think the celeriac would be kind of bland without lots of spices. Do you have root vegetables like kohlrabi and rutabaga available there? I love to roast those with a little seasoning when I can find them. My washer wants to be cleaned monthly with something called Affresh. I found out that I can use 1/2 cup of Borax and set it on quick wash to do the same thing. Also works in the dishwasher and is dirt cheap (which Affresh is not).
Did you get any more rain, Kathy? The front that hit Chele and me was pretty large, so you may have gotten something from it as well. What kind of workouts are you doing these days? I need to figure out a way of adding another day of resistance training to my routine. Not enough days in the week to do everything I want to do.
I need to do towel laundry today but nothing else is planned (since I got it all done yesterday). This is Arya's preferred sleeping weather, so she's snoozing on the couch. I'll probably read after I work out and get a shower.

Chele, glad you're getting some much needed rain.
Karen, the storm hasn't made it here yet, but the wind is starting to pick up. We got a little bit of rain yesterday. From the current radar, it looks like it will be hitting us after 5pm today. I've been doing Yoga with Adriene's new 30 day series since Jan. 1. Other than that, just walking. I have a strength/cardio routine queued up on Jazzercize on Demand, so I need to get back to doing some of that too.
Hope everyone has a good day.

Karen, I’m glad the cold is better. I did a quick workout before my shower and a trip to Kroger. I haven’t ordered my Fitbit yet. You know what a procrastinator I am. You were a little dynamo yesterday getting all that done after your class. Happy snoozing to Arya. I’ve started using 1 lb weights for arm work while I am bicycling. It gets my heart rate up without having to kill my hips and knees.
Linda, I tried celeriac once. Hated it. We used to sauté escarole with garlic and EVOO but I’ve never tried sautéing endive. I’m not sure I’d like the honey. I like sweet and salty but not too big on sweet and savory. Your temperature is getting really low. No wonder you broke out the winter attire.
Kathy, are you under a tornado alert? I saw something briefly about it on TWC but didn’t see what part of FL was affected. I haven’t done yoga in a while. I need to as I can feel my muscles are not as flexible as I would like.
I braved the rain and got some fresh veggies, blood oranges, yogurt and some frozen items. Tomorrow we are expecting high winds, so I doubt if I will go out.

Chele, we're under a tornado watch until 9pm. Panama City Beach was hit by a tornado earlier today, but I'm hoping the system will weaken some by the time it gets to us. Looks like nasty weather all over the place! It's very blustery outside right now. I'm really liking the current Yoga with Adriene series. It's called Flow and is free on YouTube. It seems like she's going a little slower than with some of her other series.

Karen, thanks for the washer tip. And I think I will use vinegar in the wash instead of Downy. Cleaning that waxy ick out of the dispenser is gross and I guess it accumulated bacteria!
I like the celery tastes but yes, it sure is bland and no fan of purée.
Glad your cold is waning.
That wind went north and in NW Georgia mountains lifted up a 4x4and moved it 50.feet.
Winder how Texas is doing with cold this year. Anyone heard from.,,hmm..name is gone.
not much done today, as I promised myself, dealing with stuff in the mail next morning after it comes around supper. Cleaned up the litter on my long dresser …what happens when you cleaned up other stuff! Two loads of laundry and pasta dinner. Oooh excitement,
